Horrible place to shop online: ETSY

"12 days Ive been waiting for a dog collar. 12 days and it still havent arrived. Contacting the company is close to impossible and contacting the shop is the same as contacting the Wall, a stupid answer from a stupid business...I wonder why people still buying from these places? it a horrible place to buy from with **** products and they are giving you the line: "its all hand made" I am sure its not and I am sure its another product from China. Dont buy there if you need your product in timely manner. There are other website out there that will give you the same product, for the same price for half of the delivery time. If a $7 dog collar, takes 12 days, how long a more expensive item takes? Etsy is a horrible place to shop, don't do it..!!!! "

My account with Etsy got deactivated for no reason

"My account with Etsy got deactivated and I called to ask why. The customer service agents I talked to over the next 2-3 weeks kept insisting that I received an e-mail (I didn't) and they don't know and all they could do was submit another ticket to the department who is in charge of accounts. I waited about 3 weeks before calling customer service again and today I asked for a supervisor, and the agent put me on hold, then came back and told me our business dealings are over and to quit calling them. He then hung up on me. I still haven't received any sort of reason as to why my account was banned.deactivated. This is TERRIBLE customer service."

Policy change and new business model not notified.

"I advertised my products for 1 month free. The following month they suddenly started charging, and offered no option to back out of the agreement between us prior to changing their business plan. Probably illegal but if not still a dodgy practice. I closed my account immediately(had to pay up first to be allowed to do so"

Thieves

"I have been selling on Etsy since 2013. Recently, they automatically changed their relisting settings (I had mine set at manual) to automatically relist. So they basically stole .20 cents from each of my items listed. People thinking of opening a shop on Esty BEWARE.....BUYERS SHOULD ALSO BEWARE...

I switched from Ebay to Esty because the fees were lower and they were more user, customer service friendly and helpful.....fast forward six years.....they BLOW.....

DO NOT SELL OR BUY FROM ETSY....STAY FAR, FAR AWAY!

Plain dishonest!

"I placed a plant order the afternoon of Friday 10/04. Credit card was charged right away by Etsy. Had to cancel order same evening after going into respiratory distress due to pollen according to pulmonologist. At first, seller didn't respond to cancelation, then said she would refund, minus $5.00. Then, after several weird messages from seller, I received a USPS tracking number letting me know estimated delivery was 10/11 to 10/18. But when I went on the USPS site to track the order, to this day 10/24, I get: "ORDER HAS NOT SHIPPED". Couldn't get help from Etsy so I stopped payment on my credit card, and filed a complaint with the BBB. "

BUYER BE WARE!

"MY EXPERIENCE WITH ETSY HAS TO BE ONE THE WORST AND HORRIBLE PURCHASE I HAVE EVER MADE. I PURCHASED A DRESS AT A VERY HIGH PRICE. IT WAS NOT WHAT WAS ADVERTISED. I CALLED THEM AND THEY TOLD ME TO TALK TO THE SELLER. AND THE SELLER TOLD ME TO SELL IT ON EBAY."

Never got my refund on cancelled order

"Want my money back ! Contacted seller and said to contact etsy. Order was placed and canceled same day back in August, and it's been over a month and nothing . Never buying from etsy Ever again. Worst customer service Ever . Transaction # ***-***-****"

Etsy is not a seller friendly site

"Etsy does not support freight shipping so sellers are forced to list items with free shipping and request the buyer message the seller for a shipping quote. If the buyer purchases the item anyway and refuses to pay additional shipping fees they a can leave a negative review even after the order is refunded and canceled. Etsy is not in favor of the seller, it lets all reviews stand even if the buyer threatens the seller in the communications. There are way too many sites that are in favor of the seller and dispute aggressive behavior to deal with etsy. Do yourself a favor a deselect international shipping if the site allows it. The etsy translation is not accurate and fuels the fire between the aggravated buyer and the seller.
On a positive note esty support encourages you to call them out when error result in your negative reviews by mentioning it in your response to the negative review.

bad experiance ever

"etsy doesnt respect the seller and they suspend any account they want. the customer service also are Terrible:
-they not respond to my messages and my tickets.
-etsy team doesn't listen to my complaints.
-They never respond to my appeal more than two months ago
-they suspended me from the chat while I am talking to them .. I swear to you i did not smell or do anything wrong .. Just told me wait a little to see the problem and then they told me without any introductions you will not be able to chat with us again without even talking about my problem !!!!.


my advice to anyone who want to sell on it .. please try any other platform because etsy will make you lose all the time that you spent to build the shop, the traffic and the customers.. and will make you lose any investment like marketing budget on promoted listings, fees and social platforms ads.

In the end, I loved etsy more than any other platform in the world, but after being disrespected, I hate it very much now and most of the reviews I have seen agree.

And I think etsy is a bubble and will explode sooner from any competitor who builds good relationships with his vendors. and It follows the interest policy of sellers and buyers, not just the interest of the company

Etsy- Not Protecting Buyers

"Apparently in an Etsy review, you cannot share what the seller wrote to you...in this case, Katya from BeGenuine. I opened a case and found out my review was removed at the request of the seller because I quoted what the seller wrote to me. So, in reality, I would assume that most negative reviews are removed. Also, the ability to write a new “compliant” review is not an option. Basically, this reveals that the reviews on the sellers are misleading. Sellers appear to be reputable, but they may not be. This is fraud in my opinion. "

Lack of integrity and transparency

"I purchased from an Etsy vendor who is deceitful and etsy took down my review because it was hot topic. The vendor claimed their items are handmade and it was a family business..all my items came in a plastic bag with made i china stamps on them...i’ve Purchased 10k worth of goods from legit family owned businesses from Etsy..this vendor calls me a racist when i asked about the items ..that made me angry because Iam ethnic and they’re using the race card to defend their lie..and Etsy is there with them after they took my reviews off their site..."

Etsy.com has very bad customer service

"Etsy.com has very poor customer service. They have thousands of small Jewlery maker in their website. Some of them is good, lots of them make the product very poor quality. It breaks in few days or weeks. If you want refund or replace will be very hassle depending of each individual owner. Etsy.com don’t do anything to making sure these shop owner live up their quality and service. So, just be careful who you purchase it from. You could be totally loser if you don’t be careful."

Did not receive item and cannot leave a review

"I used to enjoy shopping at Etsy, but I would advise not to shop overseas. In my case they took a month to ship the item and then another month for the item to ship. However, it never reached my house. I contacted the shop, who did not respond. Soon after, the 100 day window ended, so I cannot open a case or review the items that I never received. I am no longer shopping at Etsy."
