"I will never use Fandango again. This is my third and last purchase using Fandango. The system asks for Movie membership information to apply discounts. Each time I apply my AMC Stub card information before checkout, which should remove the convenience fee and ensure my AMC points are applied to my Stub account. After check-out, however, there is no reference to my AMC Stub account number and I'm always forced to go to customer service at the movie theatre and have them apply the discount to my card. This of course negates the "convenience" of using Fandango. Unfortunately, it never gives me back the fee they charge for the "convenience" of their service. In essence, I'm forced to pay more for more hassle. Calling their 800-customer service is a joke. They only tell you what they can't do. They pretend not to hear your requests and let's not talk about refunds when you've had enough of their bull. They tell you they will first have to contact their "refund department" and then email you if your request has been approved. By then, you've already purchased new tickets at the theater and if your request hasn't been approved, you're out of luck? Don't ask to speak to a manager, as they put you on hold for another 5-10 minutes and then tell you that a manager will have to e-mail you back (not even call). This entire process is a big joke. Don't use Fandango!!!"
"I tried to order one adult and one child movie ticket for an upcoming movie. It said that there was an error and from what I'm hearing, I'm pretty sure they will still charge me for the tickets even though I haven't received the tickets. There weren't even any messages in my email. The website was also timing me to buy the tickets and the page would "expire" if I wasn't quick enough. I really hope that Fandango doesn't take my money. Basically Fandango isn't trustworthy to buy tickets so just buy them at the theatre."
"NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES (even 48 hours in advance).
In accordance their Terms of Use, Fandango does not offer refunds or exchanges of tickets purchased on the Fandango Web site or via our mobile site. In addition, tickets purchased through Fandango are subject to a per-ticket Convenience Charge, which is non-refundable.
Their chat system takes forever to connect you to an customer service representative (who are just as incompetent as Fandango as a company)."
"They suck. Tried to buy 9 tickets on their website and it always returned me error message so i had to get the tickets at the box office. When i finished the movie and you know what? -They charged me fees for 18 tickets WITHOUT even an email confirmation. Called the customer service asking for refund, was told they can only refund me the convenience fee.
Update: After almost 20 phone calls with the Fandango and the cinema finally they submitted the full refund request for me. Still pending."
"If I can give "0 Stars" I will do so! EVERY attempt to use Fandango GC's has been a hassle! Tonight, downright MADDENING!
Could write for hours, but already wasted over an hour on CustomerNoService, with a non-apologizing, non-helpful "Anna-Alecia." Kept giving me non-helpful info like "your gift cards are valid," (DUH!)... and finally suggested I *try* to clear history, start over, and purchase a ticket for show at 8p... when I TOLD HER, multiple times, that I was *trying* to purchase for my daughter, ALREADY AT THE THEATER - WITH FRIENDS - WHO ALREADY HAD TICKETS!!!! Right... my daughter should pay full price, opening night, and either miss the first hour, or ask friends to stay an extra hour late so she will have a ride home. Just what every 16-year old wants to do!! NOT!!!!!! Grrrrrr!!!
Movie was "closed out" by theater, as 10 minutes past start time, while I *tried* to purchase using these GC's on another computer... Anna-Alecia disconnected telling me to "have a nice day."
Did I say Grrrrrrrrrrr!!!! yet??
Unless and until I receive satisfactory compensation for the time, money (my daughter ended up paying cash, when HOLDING PERFECTLY VALID, LOADED fandango gift cards), hassle, stress on my daughter/her friends/me, and lack of empathy/understanding - frankly "support" from the "Customer Support" line... I will be posting same/similar ratings/reviews everywhere I can find to do so!!!
If you see this, and have had similar experience... Please help me trend #FandangoSucks on Twitter/Facebook/all social media!!"
"Hopeless!! Completely ripoff. Don't even think to buy any gift card from "Fandango". Other reviews are right, I didn't save any money on top I paid extra "$1.25" for a ticket. "
"I was given a gift card and the only way to redeem it is through their website with a $1.25 "convenience" fee per ticket. Then, the so-called printable ticket at home (to supposedly avoid theater lines) is also plainly and simply, a lie. It's merely a printable scan bar and confirmation number that MUST be exchanged for an actual ticket printed by the theater itself which means, you guessed it, waiting in a line. There is nothing convenient about Fandango gift cards and besides, I'd like to know who they believe has done any work for that $1.25 to cover exactly? Then to be blatantly lied to about the ticket exchange process is unacceptable. If I ever owe someone I don't particularly like a gift, I'll be sure it's a Fandango gift card."
"Overpriced -- "convenience fee"....ugh...I think we need a better business model out there and/or just cheaper fees"
"Bought 2 x Travel Zoo coupons for "Movie Night for 2 w/$100 certificate Restaurant.com bonus", good for "any Fandango movie tickets including IMAX and 3-D films", "including new releases". When I tried to buy the tickets for a Sunday morning showing of 'Gravity' on opening weekend Fandango site said "unable to process order please try a different showtime". In fact, all the showtimes on Sunday were unavailable, but Tuesday showtimes were all available through Fandango. I phoned the cinema directly and spoke to the manager - they had plenty of tickets for Sunday. After 30+ total min wait Fandango call center they said they were aware of problem - I had to clear my cookies and "Ray" showed me how, and that did work and I was able to purchase the tickets - but WHY would Fandango put a cookie on my computer to block a weekend sale for Regal Cinemas? Then using Fandango charges an extra 'convenience fee' (= more than a third of the price of the ticket!) to use the TravelZoo prepaid ticket... Lucky me - I spent $56 for $30 worth of movie tickets through Fandango!
(PS - the Restaurant.com certificate 'deal' was a total rip-off too but that's a different story.) "
"I ordered 2 personalized gift cards for family members for Christmas. Both orders were a mess. One I was charged for and it was never processed or sent. When I called customer service, he advised me to dispute the charge with my cc company and reorder and send digitally. It defeats the purpose of the "cute" personalized card- besides, my parents are in their 60's, they do not want a digital gift. The other was the incorrect address (my mistake). I called back after realizing my mistake to have it resent. 24 days later, it still has not arrived. I am embarrassed that our Christmas gift still has not arrived and we are almost over January. I will never order a gift card from Fandango again. If you order personalized gift cards- do not use Fandango."
"Horrible. Hides and charges an expensive convenience fee. Waste of time, printer ink and hassle."
"Fandango refused to resolve an issue in which I could not retrieve tickets at the kiosk at the movie theater. What is worse is that they did not provide information that would have supported their claim that the movie theater should resolve this problem. Will not use Fandango again."
"Fandango.com is the absolute WORST! I attempted to purchase 6 adult tickets for a movie the website told me they could not process my order because my billing address was incorrect So I tried again thinking I put my wrong address and it said the same thing In all even though they said my order didn't go through they still charged me! with a total of $165 in movie tickets and said they couldn't refund me for 10 business days! the supervisor I spoke to Dixie was extremely rude and no help at all I will never order on there website I have lost $165 and have no tickets at all now"
"Miserable experience. It mattered to my wife and I very much that we be able to print our tickets at home. The Web site doesn't explain that this option is only available at certain theatres. Turns out that there are icons giving this information, but you'd never know that looking at them. We only find out AFTER purchase, at which point their customer service rep refuses to refund the tickets or the "convenience fee," which at this point I'd call an "inconvenience fee" because you still have to wait in line at the theatre to pick up your tickets, in addition to the time spent keying in all your credit card info and email address online. What a ripoff!"
"Fandango charged me a "convenience fee" to use their website, which they hid until the very last page. I do not appreciate sneaky business practices such as this; therefore, I will no longer be using their site."
