"I live in Romania (Europe) and I was looking for a US based merchant willing to ship outside US. I was pretty disappointed when I realized that big companies like Amazon or ToysRus don't care about selling outside US (Amazon will ship books, CDs and DVDs anywhere in the world but most toys are unavailable outside US).

A friend told me about FatBrainToys (she bought some toys from them). So, I tried the website.
I was looking for a merchant that will ship to Romania but I discovered much more than that - I discovered a company that cares about toys and their educational value. My 5 years old son has a mild form of Autism (he had finished his early intervention program with very good results) and I consider that toys are now his main way to learn and to improve his skills and abilities. For example, I want him to improve his attention span and be more focused and Fat Brain Toys had an amazing list of toys I found appropriate for this. He rarely payed attention to an activity for more than 5-10 minutes but now he loves the Perplexus, the Ball of Whacks or the building toys we bought from FBT and plays with them for hours, learning how to keep calm and focus on a loooong task.
The fact is children want toys and parents want educational activities for their children and FBT looks at toys from this perspective. That's why I love the list of toys they carry (each one of the toys in their catalogue seem to be picked by an education professional and I was not able to find more mainstream toys (read this as trendy and not so valuable from the educational point of view) like a Buzz Lightyear Action figure my son wished for Christmas.
So, I bought the action figure from eBay and another 7 toys from Fat Brain Toys (The guys at FBT did a great job creating lists of picks based on the abilities the toys will help to build - and the reviews and awards the toys received are a good indication of a toy value as well – so I enjoyed exploring the toys catalogue and picking 7 toys and mind games) . Buzz performed all kinds of flying stunts for a whole day but now he sits in a corner and looks how my son Tudor is playing with the Perplexus or the construction set I bought from Fat Brain Toys. And I just love the way Tudor stopped running around the house whooshing and launching rockets into invisible aliens and discovered how fun it is to sit down and put his brain to work :-).
