"Flashrouters came through for me. I've had major bandwidth issues in my apartment in New York, and tried numerous fixes - including consulting with service people at best buy and other electronics stores. Nothing worked...until Flashrouters diagnosed my problem and set me up with a great solution. The router they sent (Asus N66u) was custom configured for my situation, and works great. The human factor - the time they spent with me working through what I needed and then making sure I got it - made all the difference. Highly recommended"

"I needed a router with OpenVPN running on it to increase the privacy of my whole home network, but since I am not that much knowledgeable with VPN technology, I decided to buy a full-fledged solution from FlashRouters.

I decided to buy a Linksys e2500 router with Tomato Shibby (1.28) (120 USD + tax + shipping). They sent me a detailed manual that indicated how to set up the router with my VPN provider (Private Internet Access). I am located in Canada and received my order quickly (3 business days).

It is true that the routers they sell are more expensive that the ones you can find on Ebay. However, these guys have offered me very good and responsive customer support. For instance, I had disconnection problems with Private Internet Access and they offered me a solution that worked reliably.

I have also asked several other questions before I bought the router and was very satisfied with the information they provided to me. The only thing they might improve is to tailor their suggestion concerning the router model to buy and the type of Internet connection (bandwidth) of the prospective buyer. OpenVPN requires quite a lot of CPU power for data encryption. The Linksys e2500 has a 300mhz CPU and this is enough for my 7/1 connection. People with higher bandwidth might however need a more powerful router. I am quite certain the guys at FlashRouters would be able to give the proper information, so do not forget to ask them about this in order to get the router that will fit your needs.

Based on my personal experience, I am very satisfied with this company and I recommend it to other prospective buyers.

"I recently moved to Singapore and was surprised to see that neither Netflix nor Hulu were supported, at all. I had already purchased a flashed router from flashrouters.com for other purposes and on a whim decided to bring it with me abroad. As soon as I realized that there was no Netflix support I was also very glad I brought my router. I wasn't sure if flashrouters.com customer service would help me with my issue, given the span of time since I made my purchase, but it turned I had nothing to worry about. Dave, the rep I spoke to, understood my problem and was more than happy to help. In less than 20 minutes he logged on to my router remotely, adjusted my settings accordingly, and I was up and running Netflix. I'm REALLY glad that I had purchased from them and am relieved with just how quick and painless the entire process was. I cannot recommend them enough."

"I bought the most expensive router that FlashRouters sells. With the extended service plan a 1 year warranty, and shipping my bill came to $455.10. That is a lot for a Netgear R7000 router with a street price (7/4/14) of around $190. I believed this price was justified because the new router came flashed with dd-wrt firmware and 1 year of extended service.

When I used the service plan the first time the technician forwarded a link to an article on the subject of my question from the dd-wrt website. I had already read that article and it didn't cover my issue. Then the technician told me that they didn't cover my issue (configuration of USB storage) and gave me a link to the support page of FlashRouters. Sure enough, USB was not specifically mentioned but neither were many other features of the router that I would expect to be covered.

During the following week or so we traded many emails where I tried to get the technician to read over the screenshot I sent to him and comment on it and he continued to deny to do that. I don't believe he ever did read my screenshot or question because he never commented on it. I even told him that all I wanted was an opinion and not a guarantee so that he wouldn't be responsible but that didn't encourage his to supply a comment. I have to admit that I didn't read all of the support page but I did believe that after buying and extended warranty for $35 and a support plan for $25 that I would be covered.

The reason I am taking time to write this review is to warn any prospective customers of this company to be very careful about expecting good support. Maybe it was just the technician I got, or maybe not. I only have this one data point.
