"I bought a product (NOT listed as out of stock) from Gander Mountain on 3 June (Sunday) for approximately $85. I received an order confirmation email that same day.

On 7 June (Thursday), my order was finally processed and shipped, and I was charged the correct amount on my credit card. I was sent a shipping confirmation email that day.

Aside from the inordinate amount of processing time, this is the only part of my first (and last) experience with Gander Mountain.

I was not tracking it online during this time - which I should have 20/20 hindsight and all - however I was able to check my mail every day (as well as my apartment complex office which picks up all packages which are not delivered directly into the hands of the recipient).

No notices were left on my door, nor with the office, nor was anything delivered. Finally, I went online to track the package. It said delivery date was now estimated as 27 June. Ridiculous I thought, but at least it was coming.

27 June came and went without a package or notice again. At this same time, I learned that I had left part of my address off of a separate order from another company. The USPS had returned it undeliverable (they do not bring anything into the apartment office unfortunately).

Concerned that I may have done the same thing here, I checked my confirmation emails. Thankfully my address was correct on my order confirmation. However, looking at my shipping confirmation email, the address was complete except for the apartment number (it even had "APT", just not the number!).

I logged onto the FedEx tracking site, and now saw the entire tracking history as the package had been...delivered? Yep. Delivered back to the manufacturer on 26 June, and it was now 2 July.

Immediately piecing it together (a little later than I should have), I realized that somehow the address had been incorrectly transposed onto the package, FedEx hadn't found my place, so they returned it (and the 27 June estimated delivery date was for RETURN, not delivery to me!). Not only that, but the package had sat for 6 days from 13 June until 19 June with notes from FedEx saying "Cannot locate recipient" and "Notice sent to recipient with no response - Unable to deliver shipment - Returning to shipper".

However, much to FedEx's fault, NO notice was given to me OR the apartment office (I had been going there every day and they knew me by name as it is a new complex).

Shipping issues aside, why hadn't Gander Mountain called me about a problem like the aforementioned other seller? Or why hadn't I gotten a credit back? Well, when I called them, they had NO idea the package had been returned - until I called them that is.

I was offered a 10% discount on reordering the same item as compensation for nearly a week of processing, and nearly 4 weeks of shipping/return for an addressing error made on their end. I told them that was a sore compensation for the inconvenience and preferred my money back.

Bottom line? Gander Mountain let this order go completely awry and I will not be using them again. I wish I could say the same about FedEx, but unfortunately, we don't have as much choice there (but when I do, I'll use exercise it).

"I ordered a battery. i got the battery and it was damaged. called customer service, listened to country music for a few minutes, then talked to a rep. they said they would call back mon. or tues. talked to rep on tues. apologized for the damage will send out a replacement right away. one week later still no battery. this is where the fun starts, call cust service, 4-5 min country music,transfer to claims, con music 5-6 min,leave message recording. next day, repeat last 2 sentences! next day i talked to a rep. he transferred me to claims I said no, i will stay on hold and you get ahold of them. He said sure please hold, country music, gets back on and said "they don't seem to be answering" I said "what a surprise", "but I bet you could leave a message!" Then he said "Is there anything else I can help you with?" I am going to Sears to get a battery for this weekend. "Thanks for using Gander Mt.""

"I ordered a screen for our garage door on 4/22 to make sure it would be here by Mother's day as we are having both my wife's family and mine over for a cook out. I received the order confirmation the same day I placed the order but nothing else for two weeks. I called Gander Mountain customer service over and over again about this and kept getting the same answer. "We'll mark it down as a priority Mr. ***** and get back to you a.s.a.p. with an update on your order." Nothing. No email, no phone calls. Then they give me a bogus tracking number that when pulled up on UPS says that it has been delivered to someone in Ma. I LIVE IN WI! The next bunch of b.s. was the girl told me I didn't read the tracking number right. Delivered meant it was just moved to the next UPS dock. Right... They then proceeded to blame it all on the vendor, Shelter Logic and said it was their fault. Blame game like a bunch of children. I called Shelter Logic and was told by them that they hadn't received my order. I called G.M. back and talked to the supervisor who was completely rude to me. He told me that the package was shipped. I asked how do you know. He says the vendor told him. I said then why can't you give me the correct tracking number then? Long Pause. "because it's the wrong tracking number". Around and around we go. Lies leading into more lies. They wouldn't even be decent enough to send me another one just so I would have it by Mother's Day. I will never spend another penny there and will bad mouth them to anybody whenever I can. Their customer service is RIDICULOUSLY HORRIBLE!!! "

"I order an ATV sprayer that had a slit and leaking fitting that held the wand nozzle on. I asked them to replace the wand because a new fitting could not be located. They told me I had to send the whole unit back and emailed a return label that wouldn't print out. Called for the 3rd time and finally got a call that said it's in the mail. Doesn't make any sence to return whole sprayer when all it takes to install new spray wand is a screw driver for the hose-clamp. This company is unreasonable to try and work with and I will never spend another dime there. Customer service is terrible"

"After the fourth insulting experience at Store #122 in Franklin, WI I have vowed to NEVER use GM again. Their firearms department is riddled with clerks that pretty much treat you like dirt if you are a female looking for a gun. They talk down to you, make you feel like an idiot when THEY don't have the proper knowledge of an item. One guy at this store is actually good, but every other clerk in firearms is a total waste of time and skin. Go to Cabelas, Bass Pro, or local or online dealer. This place is a freakin' joke. OH, and complete morons about archery too."

"placed my first order with them on the 11th, opted out of spam email. Notified on the 14th, that there was a price error & my order was cancelled. I'm sure they knew about the error on the 11th, why wait 3 days to notify people? - Have already begun to receive spam email from them which I opted out of. This pricing crap is a way to get people's email addresses. They should compensate for my waste of time. "

"If you want a Bait and switch and never receive your product you ordered then this is the company.. because this company is to mis price items so you think you're getting a great deal and switch it around on you and try and sell it to you for the price with a coupon. It's bad business for them to do this. I can understand since their business is going under. It has since pulled out of the Nasdaq Global Market in 2010.

This is typical for a company to do so the owners and ceo's can take the stock and keep it among st themselves. Don't plan on them staying in the game any longer. They have to do the bait and switch method to gain income.

"I ordered a jacket from Gander Mtn. and I thought I had gotten a great deal. Well that wasn't the case. They sent me an e-mail confirmation, but when I never got any shipment info, I called them. What they told me was really upsetting. They said that they cancelled my order (without my knowledge or an e-mail, or letting me know in any way) due to the fact that the jacket had just sold out. Well I told them that when I ordered the jacket was available, so they got all my credit card info and sold me the jacket when they didn't have any in stock?! They didn't try to reimburse me for my lost time or stress. It really was a shame that I got so excited about my jacket only to find out AFTER I paid for it that they didn't even have it in stock. 2 days later, I saw on their website that the jacket was again available. I didn't even want to waste my time with them again though and have to go through this all over again so I paid $30 more for my jacket elsewhere. I would rather do that than try and deal with this company again! What they did was unethical and very un-professional."

"Gander Mountain is a reputable dealer. They offer good sale prices and coupon codes w/ free shipping. Their rating on here is rediculously low because they apparently accidentally messed up pricing on an item (marked it like $9.99 instead of $59.99) and cancelled those orders. Every rating here except two are people complaining about this one event. So order with confidence. I have bought online from them many times and I always get the item ordered for the price advertised within an acceptable time. One mistake w/ pricing doesn't make a dealer one-star. I understand why people who thought they got a steal on an item were disappointed to have the order cancelled, but I think they are overreacting. My guess is someone place a link to this site on some forum and everyone came over here to complain."

"Yet another Gander Mountain Scam...I will let the following email exchange speak for itself.

So which was it? A misprint on the website, or a sale item sold out? If the sale item was sold out, I would like a raincheck please. If it was a misprint, why did you sell any at $9.99. Has Gander mountain sunk to the level of Butterfly Photo and others of that ilk producing misleading ads and using bait and switch tactics. You guys used to be reputable. Wait til this hits the blogosphere! The loss of my 9.99 will pale in comparison. Also, please stop spamming me with ads in my email inbox. I didn't sign up for that.

My account has been charged for the slippers so I'd appreciate recieving them or a comparable replacement.
