"The material appears to be strong and tear retardant. I had to drape the cover two ways to see which orientation best fit my pergola (roughly 7 ft. x 7 ft. inside dimensions). One orientation did not work well, but the other is decent and visually appealing. The ties at the four corners came in very handy because they allowed me to secure the canopy to the upper corners in such a way to reduce wind disturbance. I am using 2 1/2 to 3 inch round wooden tree stakes cut to size rather than metal bars to provide sufficient weight at the folded ends of the canopy to stretch the material evenly over the pergola roof slats. If I remove a stake this will allow me to lower canopy (remove the fold) for more shade. I can then secure the ties to the vertical posts at a lower level. I can do this with one or both folded ends depending on the orientation of the sun. This sounds complicated when I read it, but if you have the same issues it will make complete sense."
