"Just was Scammed by getaroom.com | never used their business intentionally thought the hotel i connected with was the actual Radisson affiliate
Country Inn Suites. Once I realized when I received a receipt not coming from the actual hotel I cancelled it not realizing they treated it as a non refundable reservation . The reservation came through as cancelled although the payment was just used with my credit card . Called so called customer service they said I cannot get my money back due to their policy . which is clearly ecommerce FRAUD.
Be aware reported to actual Radisson affiliated location plus FRAUD unit for my credit card .
This company needs to be reported and brou down !!!!!!"
"No cancelations or modifications to reservations…. Because they aren’t the company you are booking with. I was also charged double the price of the room on the real company website"
"Scam website - Avoid at all costs. They are thieves!!"
"Gettaroom did everything they could to look like Hilton. Took my money but did not pay for the room, so I had to pay in person as well. Can't actually reach anybody to talk to, and even knowing they did not pay for my room argued the dispute with my card company and claimed they could not refund me because of the dispute. "
"I booked a room in sydney (accidentally through getaroom.com), I tried to contact them immediately but of course their numbers could not be contacted. I called the hotel and they assured me I would be charged $219 Australian dollars anf on departure printed a receipt for the amount of $219. When I got my credit card bill I was charged $322 Australian. I contacted the hotel and said that $322 WAS NOT the amount I should be charged. They put me in touch with Agoda who was the platform booking agent for getaroom, that was nothing short of a nightmare trying to deal with them, they asked me questions regarding information on confirmation email, every time i gave them the correct information I was told it didn’t match their information on my confirmation email. After 3 phone calls to Agoda I was finally given a phone number to call, it was a car rental company!!!!! Called back and they emailed getaroom, in turn getaroom emailed me asking for information. I sent a copy of my receipt from hotel, their response they regret inconvenience but can’t do anything, also blamed my bank saying the $322 must have included the currency conversion, which it did not!!!! When I contacted my bank they in fact refunded me the currency conversion as they too felt that getaroom was deceitful in their charge
I will NEVER recommend getaroom or Agoda, go elsewhere that won’t rip you off"
"My experience...
Booked hotel on March 3, for 3/22-3/24.
Tried to cancel on 3/20 (cutting it close to arrival date, I know). Went to my email confirmation and clicked "manage reservation." It takes you to a page where they make it VERY easy to cancel, but also VERY unclear what happens if you cancel. I clicked cancel, thinking if something screws up and I'm charged more than I want to be charged for the cancellation, that I could always call their customer service "reinstate" the reservation...essentially just undoing the cancellation I just did.
And I have to pause here because this was my first mistake. If unclear about what would happen if I cancelled, I should have called their CS right away and asked. But I proceeded, like a dummy. My thoughts were:
- since it said no-cancellation policy, if i click this button it likely won't even work, right? it'll just say "sorry, no cancellation possible" or something like that. Or,
- I might get charged a nominal fee, $50 or something, and
- "what's the worst that can happen, I can always call their CS and straighten things out or reverse the cancellation"...
Well, what "happens" is you just get charged the full amount for your reservation, and now you don't have a hotel room either.
Next step was to call getaroom.com customer service. They said something like "sorry, per our cancellation policy and system limitations, there's nothing we can do. You are charged the full amount and your room is cancelled. End of story, no other options." Of course I was furious.
Next, I called the hotel and they too said their hands were tied..."you booked through a third party, you need to work through them, nothing I can do..."
Next I contacted my credit card company and disputed the charges.
Then, filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau.
Called back getaroom.com CS a 2nd time, went through the whole spiel again, and again was given the same line "due to our policies and system limitations, nothing I can do...you can talk to the hotel"...and HERE is where it turns around. I Told him I DID already talk to the hotel manager, and got her approval to refund, if getaroom.com would refund. so the getaroom.com CS agent says he just needs the name and title of the person I talked to at the hotel. I had the title (assistant manager) but not the name. So I ask the CS rep if I can put him on hold to get the hotel manager's name, and he says sure...well of course he hangs up on me right away then.
So I get the hotel manager's name and call back getaroom.com for the 3rd time. Told her the scenario, the hotel manager's name and title, and she called the hotel for confirmation that it was okay to cancel and refund. I then got a ticket # and verbal confirmation that they would refund. Getaroom.com agent said i'd get a confirmation email but I never did...so now waiting for that. Supposedly will have a refund in 5-7 business days. I am highly skeptical that I will ever receive a refund. And per some other reviews, American Express was not helpful in getting a refund from this company either.
TL;DR - So the key here is to get the hotel manager's name and title and approval to cancel/refund your reservation, then call getaroom.com and let them know that you've already spoken with the hotel and have approval, and ask them to confirm with the hotel and refund you. I hope this helps ANYONE unfortunate enough to ever book with this type of company!"
"Took my miney. Never booked the hotel. Waiting for refund which i probably will never see."
"Such Scammers! PLEASE DO NOT FALL FOR THIS TRAP. i first went on their website to book a hotel which showed me £90 for the complete booking. Then at the end after inputting my details, it confirmed taking the amount.. Immediately i was on the phone with customer service to explain something went wrong and it was taken with the wrong amount as well as the check in dates, the amount was wrong and the customer rep i spoke to adviced me that this is not refundable but she can speak with the hotel. So she asked if i wanted to cancel and reach out to the hotel, not understanding that the hotel will refuse if we cancelled. they played me and kept my £180. Any sort of communication or me trying to contact the manager is met with opposition, rude customer service. AVOID AT ALL COST."
"Stay away from getaroom.com, apparently a subsidiary of priceline. Quite honestly if priceline is supporting this business, I won't be using them either. The fine print says that the hotel is non-refundable. I get it. But when you go to cancel it is the easiest thing to do, and it makes it seem like everything is fine and your refund is on the way.
I wonder if I showed up to keep my booking if I would even have a room waiting for me. WORST HOTEL BOOKING EXPERIENCE EVER. Customer service is NO help - after all, what do they care, they have your money AND get to book the room again."
"My experience with Getaroom was extremely disappointing. Initially attracted by what seemed like reasonable prices, I was shocked to discover hidden fees that essentially doubled the total cost. The discrepancy between the price shown and the final amount was frustrating and misleading.
Moreover, the customer service provided by Getaroom was abysmal. Representatives were unhelpful and seemed poorly trained, unable to provide accurate information or address my concerns effectively. Overall, my encounter with Getaroom left me feeling deceived and dissatisfied. I would caution others to approach this service with caution, as the hidden fees and inadequate customer support detract significantly from any potential benefits."
"Absolutely horrible experience dealing with getaroom. Stay away from them go directly to hotels you want to book, don't use this 3rd party junk company. I made a huge mistake to book through them after a long flight. If you book with a hotel you want directly they have a reputation to protect, this company is a 3rd party junk and there shouldn't've be a reason for them to even exist but was sold on this from a google ad which they probably pay for so they can come up on top of the search. You want to book Hilton, go directly to Hilton, not getaroom like I did which ended up with me writing a review to help others not have to deal with a junk company like this one"
"I booked a room through the Hilton website, but it happened to be with this company. I booked a room in Milwaukee for $700 for two nights. There is no review page before my purchase went through and then when I got the confirmation email it was only for one night and still charge me $700. I’ve been fighting this for months and still have not got my money back and I probably won’t. Do not trust this company. They have fine print that allows them to scam you."
"Sponsored advertisement thought I was opening the hotel website. Advertised a $475 room at $625 and claimed it was a last minute deal. Said the total was $625 and when I confirmed payment it charge my card $914 with no option to cancel. When I contacted the website customer service they processed a $60 refund and blamed me saying all fees were previously disclosed."
"I first ordered accommodation, probably through getaroom.com. UNFORTUNATELY. Due to the fact that I traveled for work and on personal leave and ordered a lot of accommodation, I also flew in. The money for the accommodation, 11650.24 CZK (claims 421 USD), was withdrawn from my account, but I did not receive any confirmation email about the order. THIS WAS THE FIRST WARNING. When I wrote to the hotel if they had my reservation, they confirmed that they did. Confirmed, paid MASTER CARD AND FINAL 4-NUMBER. Unfortunately, I had to cancel the accommodation due to health reasons. Emails from getaroom that they will refund me within 5-7 business days. Nothing came. I contacted again. They confirmed that they refunded the money to the VISA card and another 4-number. So I'm another robbed moron and have no money back."
"Customer service was horrible and I didn't get my room... It was booked for the wrong date and they wouldn't change or gone my money back"
