"Ordered a copy of Skyrim that was on sale, paid, then no key was delivered. Had to open a support ticket to be told that they had "run out of keys". Absolutely pathetic, worthless retailer. If you ask for a refund, it'll be given as credit, not back on your card. Pathetic. "
"I've ordered a hand full of times from Green Man Gaming, their prices tend to be good.. but hope and pray you don't need any help. Their customer support is horrendous. I just had a ticket go 12 days between responses...and I have NEVER had a good outcome from contacting their support. "
"This company is the absolute worst. They had a free giveaway of XCOM: Enemy Unknown as a promotion for the Golden Joysticks Awards where if you vote, you get a free copy of the game. I voted. I got the link in my email. I clicked the link.
"Have you voted yet? If so, we’ll need your patience.
Thank you for your interest in the Golden Joystick Awards. You must have registered and voted in the Awards to qualify for a free game (while stocks last). If you have not yet voted, please
go to the official site, register and vote!
If you have already registered and voted, we’re waiting for confirmation that your votes have been accepted before you can claim your free copy of XCOM: Enemy Unknown from us. We may need around 24 hours to ensure your votes have been counted, so please try again a bit later."
Waited 24 hours. Tried again. same message. contacted customer service. "Did you use the same email for voting as you did for registering?" Yes. Still getting the same page. "Well, send us a screen shot of the page you are getting and we'll look into it." Screenshot sent. No reply. several angry messages and TWO WEEKS LATER, still no game. These jokers are partnered with Playfire, which is just as bad as they are. Do not, I REPEAT, DO NOT DEAL WITH THEM!"
"I made an account on GMG because they had a giveaway on Xcom and some other games in what they call the welcome package. Now, more than a week after doing this, I have still not recieved Xcom or the free games promised as the welcome package. Nothing, absolutly nothing. I'll be sure to spend a lot of my money here ... or not!"
"Easily the worst place to buy PC games. Sure the sales are amazing but they have a refund policy that basically makes it impossible to get refunds even if the product is broken, mistakes were made by them, etc. I had bought several games from them with no problem but then bought one that was impossible to play. The publisher could not fix the game so I went back to GMG for a refund or at least store credit. Customer service was rude, and lied. I will never do business with this awful company again."
"To repeat what everyone else has said, avoid these guys like the plague. Just awful customer service. Saw one price on their home page for a game and was charged something entirely different and higher. When I reported to customer service what had happened, they chose to ignore me and claim there was nothing they could do (despite the fact that I was a new customer). I'm not going to cry over $15, but I will never do business with these sleezeballs again and encourage everyone to avoid them, as well.
Stick with Steam or Amazon and steer clear of GMG"
"Wow. I'm surprised to see such a low rating for GreenManGaming.com. I've placed 16 orders with the site since I joined seven months ago. I haven't had any problems with the games, keys, or their Capsule software.
My most recent purchase which included 3 "Legacy of Kain" games & two "Just Cause" games for well under a ten spot total was incredible. The email came with full installation directions for each of the 5 games. I didn't read it as I just copy & pasted the steam keys to my account and started playing shortly afterward.
Since they came on the downloadable game scene along with sites like GamersGate.com, IndieGala, BundleStars, Gamefly and others, there has been more competition for Amazon & Steam and prices on games for pc drop allot faster now.
Immediately after placing an order, I can get my keys or downloads from my account and the email with the order information hasn't ever been delayed.
I do recommend GMG, but as with everything make sure the game will work with your system and global location and you should be a happy customer. "
"I have bought 15 games from GMG and have only had one single issue with them. This has ranged from steam activated games to capsule run games and Origin activated games. I have only run into one time where my key was delayed but this was on launch day and I received it that night which was a small inconvenience.
They have great sales most of the time at launch or a few weeks after. I have not had to contact customer support for any refunds but when I did contact them they responded within 10 hours of my request.
I would recommend GMG for the great sales and would take lightly some of the other criticism as some seem to be user error in my opinion. "
"I can not recommend Green Man Gaming. Please keep in mind: Green Man Gaming offers no refunds on purchases, no matter how quickly you catch the mistake. They state that they are "unable to give a refund as we have already assigned the licence key". The key is "distributed" instantly! They could easily check if the key is used (especially if can only be used on their own Capsule client), invalidate the key and apply a refund. But they won't. Even Valve/Steam are not this cruel. Buyer beware. Also: Yes, they cannot accept credit cards, only PayPal. Can't say I'm surprised."
"There's this deal on GMG for DOOM BFG, it's only 10.49. So I tried putting in my bank card.FYI, it works on any site i go to, including Steam, 6pm.com, Amazon etc. I called my bank and they said its clearly your guy's problem because there's NO block on my card! I want to PAY them, but clearly they don't want to fix it.
It will suck if the sale is over til u guys fix this! I wont buy it then.
This is the error:
"Your Payment Provider has not authorised your purchase. This may be because some banks (incorrectly) believe that Green Man Gaming is a gambling website. Please contact your bank to discuss your order. We are working with these banks to resolve this issue."
I Just looked on their forum and it seems many complaints are just like mine."
"I went to Green Man Gaming's website to buy a video game since the price was low. I went there assuming they would provide me with a UK key instead I received a US key. Steam has territory restictions so naturally, I explained all this to Green Man but they gave me a very generic response: "Hi,Unfortunately we do not support key switching between accounts and regions. Apologies for any inconvenience" I explained to them that I wanted a UK key not a US key since the product didnt work and Steam cancelled the key there was no way I could use it. I provided proof of this via several screenshots. I also contacted Steam Support, they advised me to request a refund from Green Man Gaming. When Green Man refused to provide a new key I requested a refund. They replied with nearly an identical response as last time: "Hi,Unfortunately this key is region restricted. We are sadly unable to offer you a refund as you purchased the game and have had a key distributed to you. Very sorry for any inconvenience." I luckily paid with PayPal so I filed a claim with them. Once I escalated my claim through PayPal the claim was settled in my favor. I received a refund but its not worth the hassle. Please do not buy from this seller. If you really want to risk losing money then please pay with PayPal, they will help you out."
"These guys are terrible. They advertise so neatly on their website and have very serious security issues. I had experienced unnecessary stress just from trying to open an account and make my purchase for a game key. Their help desk was nothing but a repeating system, almost felt like the were not real people at all. No sense of urgency to reply and properly address account purchase. I used every single possible safe methods of payment, yet all rejected. I know how to shop securely from my end too. Until finally it had something to do on their part to finally fix. They lack simple instructions on how to use their service properly btw. Lots of pictures, low prices but no guidance, such a tease. I made one purchase, then suddenly they inactivated my account, removed all my help desk questions with out a trace! I will be reporting this to UKs Office of Fair Trading. Think about this, they buy all these keys from many US based companies but they make it very difficult to sell it back to us US Americans. You can see many others are having similar or related issues. I wish we had a better alternative right here in the US that i can find."
"Bad gaming store. My pre-odered copy of a game was delivered really late after release date. When I submitted a ticket, an automated message said that it will be answered within 2-4 days (which is a joke). They have a really bad refund policy. I would not buy from them again. Buy from a bigger store instead where they actually have a trading history."
"Stay away from that seller. Worst customer service ever seen. Purchased a game but there was no MAC version available. Nothing was in the requirements about MAC support. Mentioned that to the customer service and asked for refund. Didn't get my money back because of "refund policy". Never buy from them!"
"Don't buy from Green Man Gaming. Horrible customer service and bad business practices. I had an account with them for a few months, bought some games, didn't touch the account for a while. One day I decided to log on and make another purchase and discover they deactivated my account. Emailed support and they said my account was terminated for "suspicious activities." When I further inquired about such activities so that I could resolve the problems, they wouldn't tell me, and refused to reactivate my account. No communication, no chance to defend my rights, no nothing. Buyer beware."
