"An online marketplace needs 3 things to be legitimate: good tech, good reputation, and good customer service Gunbroker.com has none of these. Tech: Their system sent an address I did not designate for my purchase to the seller, costing me and extra $55 (big thanks to Crossroad Pawn for giving me back some of this, even though it wasn't his fault). Reputation: read reviews of this site. I didn't before shopping here, and had to endure the nightmare of figuring out how bad they were AFTER buying with them. Customer Service: their customer service was basically nonresponsive and provided useless FAQ answers which showed they didn't even read everything I sent them. I had to write a new email to them multiple times to get them to respond at above a 3rd grade level. Then they tried to BLAME me and the seller for a technical error on their part. This is their response: "The cause of the matter was two fold. Part of it was the buyers fault for not keeping the account defaults up to date before placing bids on items and the other part was the seller for creating the label before the buyer completed seller review. The seller has agreed to refund 25.00 for the transfer fee, we feel that is fair. We are closing out this matter. Have a great weekend." NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH GUNBROKER.COM"
"I purchased a firearm and the seller sent me a nonfunctional piece of JUNK. GB did nothing and their Buyer Protection Program is nonexistent. If you buy here, you will get screwed. BUYER BEWARE! AVOID DOING BUSINESS HERE OR YOU WILL END UP BEING SCAMMED. "
"they put in many hidden fees,,buyer backs out, they still take it out of your account,,asked many times for a legal address to serve papers, never responded,,do not do business with them"
"Had a dispute with a seller who charged me a restocking fee of $150 for ammunition they sent fedex that fedex never delivered to me even though they had the correct address and returned to the seller. I disputed this and expected somehow gunbroker would mediate the problem but they never replied to my three e mails at all and just went ghost. This outfit **** eggs all they want is their commission but provide nothing else of any value. They can take a long bob on a wrinkly knob I will never buy anything through them again. You all will be well advised to steer clear of this scam called "gunbroker.com""
"With intent, the owners of Gunbroker.com has no contact phone number and ONLY provides automated bot email responses due to numerous investigations into their business practices and complete failure to act on their own Terms of Service to protect buyers and sellers. They sell and share all of your personal information, clearly stated, for ad revenue and to "contractors". Their hidden fees are hidden in a way to increase their profits above and beyond what is shown and presented to buyers and sellers.
Complaining here with specifics of your nightmare does no good what so ever. Report your problem and issue with and thru Gunbroker to the ATF, the FTC, the CPA (Consumer Protection Agency), your state's Attorney General, and as a last resort to the BBB (which in reality does no good).
Also, read and research who the owners of Gunbroker really are."
"Gunbroker.com is a SCAM!!! They LIE about their fees and charge you for all kinds of things you didn't use. You cannot contact any person to talk to at this site. If you write them the only thing you will receive is a generic response that has nothing to do with your question. I sold one gun for $1000 and they charged me$400 for a 7 day auction. I MEAN ITS A CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION!!! PLEASE DONT GET CAUGHT UP IN THIS SCAM!!!"
"There customer service is terrible they have no phone number all is done thur email and it’s a bunch of idiots you’re dealing. I’d stay as far away from them as possible "
"They charge fees but don't responsible for any troubles. If seller or FFL dealer listed on gunbroker.com f***ed you up - it is only your problem, even if you presented all proofs."
"I’ve used GunBroker for many years to buy and sell firearms. Recently I sold a firearm to a buyer in Arkansas and shipped it to their FFL by USPS after purchasing the mailing label and insurance directly from GunBroker. The firearm was lost/stolen by USPS. After several inquiries to GunBroker about the insurance claim process, they finally admitted that the insurance purchased was from a third party, not USPS. They have absolutely refused to provide me with any timeframe for the insurance claim to be paid. I’m currently out more than $1,400 due to GunBroker’s misrepresentation. I will never use GunBroker’s shipping system again after this terrible experience. "
"I have used Gunbroker for a very long time -- well more than a decade and never had a problem with them until I got scammed by a seller who took my payment for an auction and never sent the item.
Turned out this seller was doing this to multiple people as well.
And the seller was a "Verified Member"!!
After realizing I had been scammed, I followed GunBroker's instructions to file a "Buyer Protection" claim. I followed them perfectly. I collected all of the documentation, filed a police report, made copies of the payment, etc etc and then sent it all in as required.
I received no response from GunBroker.
In fact, over the course of EIGHT months after filing the claim, I got no response from them after repeatedly emailing and opening support tickets. They would just close the support ticket.
Finally, I filed a complaint with BBB and provided all of the documentation, including copies of the emails and tickets and no response from Gunbroker. I requested that Gunbroker pay the Buyer Protection claim and provide me with some explanation.
After several weeks, I received a check -- but no explanation. No apology, nothing.
I still use Gunbroker because it is the largest online market, but I wish there was an alternative. I would switch in a minute.
Gunbroker made promises to support and protect me as a user -- and then when it finally came time for me to rely on that, they completely failed and showed zero remorse or concern. Whoever is running Gunbroker is human garbage.

"I have had an account for over 10 years with no issues. I had one transaction go south with some idiot who can't get his address correct and my account gets blocked for 90 days.
I was able to obtain information on another auction I won so I didn't lose out on that deal. But non the less they keep adding compliance fees and have zero customer service options, won't respond to emails or anything else. Total laziness and no customer service. "
"NO PHONE, They don't answer emails for weeks !"
"I have done many transactions on gunbroker.com and loved them until recently. I bought a rifle from a seller and was coaching my sons football tournament. I won the bid on Friday night and emailed the seller that I would send out money order Monday afternoon because I was coaching a tournament all weekend. He said not problem. Monday afternoon I sent out money order. The following Monday I checked my personal email and saw the seller had sent me and email Thursday night saying he would cancel my order on Friday if he did not hear from me. He apparently has never used US mail before he thought it would get to him in 48hrs apparently. Any way no of these is gunbrokers fault….. except the fact that I did everything I said and this tool bag flagged my account and gunbroker suspends my account, without me even having the opportunity to dispute claim. Now it says I’m locked and my account will be reviewed after 90 days. So I’m locked out of gunbroker and I guy has my money…. Thanks gunbroker great doing business with you in the past. "
"They let there sellers misrepresent there items. Buyer beware! "
"I have bought everything online including firearms and have never been asked to provide a company what gun broker.com is asking for. The requirements for signing up for gun brokers is ridiculous. They ask for a copy of my driver's license front and back which I hesitantly did. That wasn't good enough then they wanted two forms of ID and a selfie of me holding an ID. All this to buy a laser sight. I did what everyone should do bought it elsewhere."
