"I recently bought an electronic dog door and an x-10 pet fence. They both work from the same radio collar and I love these products. I looked all over for the door and the fence, and just happened upon a review of High Tech Pet and noticed that their electronic pet items all worked from one collar. I bought the 2 items and they're working great so far. My dog comes in and out as she pleases and I bought a collar for my cat too and he looks so cute with it on. At first, when he walked up to the door and it whizzed up with a little whirring sound, he jumped straight up and ran away. So I didn't think it was going to work for him cause he was totally freaked out. Then he kept watching the dog come in and out and finally he used it, and now he acts just like it's his personal door. So I'm very happy with the 2 items I bought."

"This is a great product when it works, but right after the warranty ran the unit broke. $349 for a product that lasts one year is ridiculous. They advertise "engineered to last a lifetime". One year is a pretty short lifetime. They also advertise great customer service and desire to meet expectations. When I contacted the company they were happy to suggest I spend more money with them to fix their product that IS DEFINITELY NOT ENGINEERED TO LAST A LIFE TIME""

"High Tech Pet's products are nothing short of awesome and customer service is excellent. We ordered the combination Power Pet door and X-10 Humane Contain dog fence. We really liked the fact that one collar operates both systems. The Power Pet door was easy to install and have already seen a drop in our winter heating bills because it is so much better insulated than the flap door we replaced. The product is well made and very attractive. We placed the door in our family room wall. Best of all, the dog absolutely loves it! The Humane Contain electronic fence is equally impressive. The collar is very small and comfortable on our dog. Installation was relatively easy and it is doing a great job of keeping our dog in the yard. We like the large, easy to use controls on the base station. The fact that the collar is rechargeable is also a big plus. Overall, we give High Tech Pet and its products an A+++ and would definitely purchase from them in the future."

"I purchased a high tech large electronic pet door and have been trying to use it for 3 m0nths! The transmitters are cheap and keep breaking, The sensors on the unit have failed and it is just a cheaply made piece of china junk. Their customer service does not respond. I wish I had done a little more research before buying.

"Dec. 24th and still waiting for order placed Dec.6 and getting limited information after almost 3 weeks. Phone calls result in "they will ship it end of next week" with no other confirmations to follow. They already took the money from my credit card and still no shipping date or follow-up. I may cancel this order next week.

UPDATE JAN.5: The patio sliding door doggie door arrived and it works well and was easy to install. We had a Renewal by Anderson replacement patio door and needed the "shorty" patio dog door. After I called Hi Tech on Dec.28; I was told they would ship the door in the beginning of January and they refunded the shipping fee. The door was sent via FEDEX from Ventura. Overall, one must be persistent with Hi Tech and they eventually get the order done right. Their customer service still needs to get their information straight.

"First we rec'd a defective collar, they did replace, we paid for return of the defective collar, they didnt send return label, they claim they do. Then door quit working. On 11/19/2010 we called, a new mechanism was ordered and we agreed to pay for a saturday delivery, they said there would be no cost for the mechanism. We rec'd email charging us for all. I replied back and they agreed to refund mechanism cost but not shipping. We did not rec Saturday. When checking into the shipmt w/fedex, the information showed our item going to AZ, we are in CO. Our acct was debited for the shipping we did not rec. I have called the top management, Nick Bodge and left 3 messages and sent 1 email and there has been no respone either way. Our calls are being ignored. As of Monday 11/22/2010 I cannot get anyone or anything done about this sorry excuse for a company and thier ineptness. I also faxed a copy of the email to the hitecpet company. I will NEVER reccomend this company to anyone I know and will post a negative review of this company. We told them we needed the parts before Monday so that the door would be opperational when we went to work. We cannot use the door as it is STILL broken! PROBLEM IS NOT SOLVED! Invoice # is not registered in this complaint because we dont know what is ours and what belongs to the person who rec'd our order.
DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!!

"Purchase this product a few months ago and does not function as designed. Worst product I have ever bought, stay away from them and look into other companies. I promise you won't be happy, I have given two separate weekends trying to figure out if I did something wrong, nope its the product. I installed it just as directed and the dog just seems to shake it off, I have used the teaching techniques they stated in the manual and still no results. Now that I see so many people on here complaining I understand why. I bought the best system they have, HC-8001 and its not worth the money. Now have to go through the hassle of getting a refund. STAY AWAY!!!!"

"I love these guys and their products. This review follows my purchase of the Super Hush Puppy 2 Progressive Sonic Bark Collar. It's working! My previously obnoxious barking dachshund is now quiet. She and her sister are much better behaved teenagers now that they have their electric fence, Pro Trainer and bark collar. My stress level is down and we're all happier with them. I'm definitely a loyal customer."

"After purchasing a large pet door almost a year ago (which has been flawless) i had to get one of the collars replaced, After multiple attempts at calling and emailing i finally was connected to yvette, She got everything taking care of and was perfectly professional and friendly, She changed my opinion of the company after having a bad experience with another lady that had answered one of the times i called for information. So far im happy with my purchase and as long as you try to deal with yvette if you can regarding issues or getting items replaced you should have a pleasant experience. "

"Two years ago I purchased a High Tech electronic dog door for our new home, thinking we would be in heaven not having to open the door continually. Also bought the invisible fence the worked with it.

The first day out, the dog went through the ditch, splashing the "water resistant" collar, and from then on the collar was dead in the water, so to speak. Repeated calling to the company finally got a person to answer. I was told the collar should be water resistant and to send it back and they would replace it. Two months and numerous answered and unanswered calls later, I finally was sent a replacement collar. This collar(#2) only lasted a few weeks, becoming more unreliable as time went on until it too was dead. Having already invested so much money and time in this system, I stupidly bought collar # 3! The wiring in the yard fence was so cheap it had continually broken and we gave up on that. Collar # 3 lasted a short period of time and we've resorted to walking over and pressing the open button to let the dog in and out. Finally, tiring of that, we have turned it off and taped the door open during the day. Fortunately, it opens onto a screened porch and we don't have problems with other animals.

Amazingly, the door will still work manually, considering the shoddy electronics and lack of customer service from the company.

Don't waste your money!

"I had to contact High Tech Pet because my automatic dog door from their company stopped functioning.  When trying to figure out what the problem was, I ran across negative review after negative review, complaining about the unresponsiveness about their customer service.  I emailed the company and explained that I bought the door from Petsmart.com, but they still warrantied the purchase and sent me new sensor cables (step 1 in troubleshooting) for free. I installed those and they didn't work, so the company sent a new circuit board (step 2 in troubleshooting), again for free.  I installed that and still no fix, so they sent me a new collar transmitter (step 3 in troubleshooting), AGAIN for free.  Finally I got the thing working again.  But the fact of the matter is the company was 100% responsive to every email I sent, promptly sent me replacement parts, and stuck with me until I got the door fully functional.  I really, really appreciate their responsiveness.  Don't hesitatevto give them a shot. I am 100% satisfied with my purchase and the customer service almost a year later."

"Do not use this Company. I have been using this company for 5 years. i bought the underground fence. While the fence did work great and filled our needs the company has not. They do not respond to there system email request. You allways get an Immediate response from SIC "Nick Bonage" saying you are important and someone will contact you. yea right. here is an outstanding ticket

Now the transmitter does not work. i went through 8 collars and just found out after 1 year you have or you will have to pay full price to replance anything.
I've had it. I just changed to INNOTEK at least they have a 10 year warrenty and lifetime warrenty on the collars (after a year you can get a replacement to less than 1/2 price.

"This company makes defective products. We spent many hundreds of dollars on their products over the last 2 yrs. & have had no satisfaction. Their customer service dept. hangs-up when we can eventually talk to someone. we believe they don't answer their phones so they don't have to talk to irate customers. We are very dissatisfied & would never recommend them. We have been left holding the bag with a table full of unusable/defective products. If anyone has any idea on how to get satisfaction from the company it would be appreciated. Thank you. "

"The very expensive Hightech Power pet doors come with collar transmitters that very easily become too wet to function. The "water-resistant" version for almost $40.00 becomes too wet to function if the dog simply plays in the rain. I have already had 2 transmitters break in 2 months time when taking them apart to try and dry them out. You would think a $600.00 dog door would come with a fairly dependable transmitter, but this one absolutely does not! Don't waste your money on this product. It has been nothing but aggrevation for us. Another issue is when the dog lays in front of the door, triggering it to open and close, open and close, on and on. It really needs a lock-out timer on it to prevent that. I give this product two thumbs down. It could be a fantastic door, if they would just finish working out the "bugs"."
