"I purchased an OrangeRx T-SIX Transmitter that was faulty. I returned it to HK. I thought they would notify me when the refund was granted. After three weeks I went to their web sight to find a $64.99 credit.
I am not satisfied with this settlement. I thought they would simply send me a replacement. Originally I paid $64.99 for the transmitter plus $29.79 for postage. Then I paid $15.22 to return the defective device. To obtain another Orange Transmitter this way I will have to pay another $64.99 plus another $29.79 postage and wait two weeks before delivery. I will have paid a total of $204.80 for a $64.99 Transmitter. They refunded $64.99. Total lost $139.81 plus two weeks. Shame on you HobbyKing.
NOTE: Originally when I first reported the problem, HobbyKing’s customer service had the nerve to ash me to make a video of the problem and place it on You Tube for review. You know like I have a video camera and know how to place video on You Tube. Give me a break!!"
"I purchased three Turnigy brushless motors and all three were defective. The magnets were not properly installed and they came loose while the plane was in flight fortunately I was able to do a deadstick landing with no damage.I bench-tested the other two motors with identical set-ups only to have them fail in the same manner.Hobby King's U.S. warehouse offered to replace them with the same units or similar items from another manufacturer which they did.The failure of these units was not HK's fault but it does show what happens when price rather than quality becomes your main focus.I have purchased "airframe only" models and equipped them with name-brand items from our shop with the end result of a nice model with reliable electronics and motors.I still advocate using local shops and vendors where possible since most if not all will help you if there is a problem. They have learned that a satisfied customer will tell his friends about you but an angry customer will tell EVERYONE about you.If you are a U.S. customer of this company try using their U.S. warehouse for your purchases as this seems to reduce the likelihood of defective or damaged models and thus far they have been more cooperative than their Overseas branch when it comes to customer complaints. If you cannot get a satisfactory solution to your problems with HK you can try a number of options such as filing a petition with your credit company to reverse or redirect the charges to the offending company's account,If you purchased using PayPal then use their services to help get your money back or a fair resolution of the disputed charges or file mail fraud charges.I have been lucky thus far but I will caution any potential customer to be careful with regard to the rather bad reputation that their Overseas (International) warehouse seems to have acquired."
"Horrible Customer Service! Live Chat is a Joke! Filled with incompetent and lazy employees.
Their website does not even function properly and has very questionable system for which to pay.
Stay Away!"
"Wow could not justify shipping using Singpost. I didn't even order lipos, they sent my 5 pairs of plastic tail blades by Singpost. Which I might add, I used speed post regular. Front HK to Canada, should take at most 2 weeks but took 5 weeks using Singpost. Btw, Hobbyking products are a rip off, sure it's cheap, but your going to break them easily enough times to buy a real legit one. Clones are easy to break. QC is always none existent. They ban you from their forums if you complain ever so slightly, that's how they justify customer service. Also the remove true and detailed posts from users... So you never find complaints on their forums."
"Ordered an RC plane and acc. form them and got ripped off. Ordered says it was shipped but it is supposely in customs in India. Well when asking for help there is very little help from them Hobby king will not respond to my emails anymore and it has been 4 weeks since I have had this ordered shipped. Their carries SpeedPost has never responded. All I get is it is in customs and contact your local post office. Have you ever thried to contact anyone in India. Huh... I think I have just benn ripped off for this item and the rest of my order of $236 USD. I am a expat American in India and finding anything here is almost impossible."
"did three orders in the last 24 hrs. IN all three orders something was broken, defective or missing. Most importantly ordered a 70mm EDF rated at 6S. Ran a bench test at 3S, Blads began to rub. Turns out the motor that was supplied the shaft bent (on a 3S thank god I did put a 6S in there!) I was told I voided the warranty because I used a 3S. Do not use this company!"
"Recieved 2 Bixler planes from HobbyKing. When I tried to get them to work they were dead. On inspection I found that 1 had a servo not going and the other plane had 2 that were stripped and no good. Thought contacting Hobby King would work. What a laugh going back and forth with emails. In the end they wanted a video, I sent one of a dead servo sitting on the table. I know I won't get them replaced . I not a big business only just a person from a big club that hoped for customer service,as said what a laugh. Going to buy more to replace the ones that didn't have quality inspection."
"This company's products are hit and miss. Most are of poor quality unless they are known brand names. This company will knowingly send you a defective product and than make you do and RMA to get a store credit. They never give a refund.
Do not buy anything that is not a quality brand here and put it in an expensive model unless you are willing to destroy that model.
I have placed over thirty orders with this company, I am a sucker for cheap prices. One in three have had one problem or another.
Bottom line, you get what you pay for.

"Shocked at the lack of positive ratings for Hobby King. I've just put in my fourth order with HK and have had overwhelmingly positive experiences across the board. ** Order only from your local wherehouse and you will be fine; order from the 'global' / 'international' wherehouse and you are GAMBLING!! ** The purchased items are of top quality and the value for $$$ or £££ is unmatched. I've had great and respnosive Customer service both via trouble ticket and also via the online 'chat' feature. I had a quick refund (store credit seems easier to get than full money back but I'm so far ok with that) and quick advice on issues even on a second hand purchase I made. This review is specifically regarding the last order that I've received (I've since made subsequent order that has yet to ship out) For this order I got a 1100mm P-51 EP warbird from their Durafly line. It is fantastic! I can't wait for some decent weather to fly her! I also have a 1200mm FW-190 that I won't be able to fly for a while as my skill level isn't there yet. Both planes have standard 4 channel flight controls PLUS FLAPS, LANDING LIGHTS AND FULL RETRACTS on the main gear. Both tail wheels do not retract. in the case of the FW-190 the main gear have a synchronized doors to cover the wheels... it all works fantastically well. Top notch quality all around. The P-51 especially has excellent build quality. Paint and scale features are extremely well done. Both are EPO models. The P-51 has a reputation for a brittle four blade prop so I ordered extras, plenty of spares and replacements on the Durafly line. I did some taxi tests on both planes and everything seems ready to go, I just need some practice on the WOT-4 and some good weather! The only negative on the p-51 is that the actuator horns for the control surfaces are particularly weak looking and have me a bit concerned. I'm looking toward spares right off the top! I'll follow up with my flight experiences. I've purchased several batteries, hand tools, a charger that was returned and refund for store credit quickly and with NO FUSS and loads of adapters and leads. All of satisfactory to outstanding quality. Absolutely no complaints there. I purchased a second hand YAK-54 on gumtree and got easy support for my questions troubleshooting a motor mount issue. And have had a few successful flights (apart from my learning curve!) I can say that this is a very durable and responsive flyer... it has easily survived my poor piloting and trashed muddy English football pitches (a yank trying to sound Brity here :) Nothing but Positive experiences so far and I find the exclusively negative reviews here to be dubious. I think much of the negative reviews here come from ignorance (through no fault of the buyer) in which wherehouse one orders from. EVERY ORDER I have made from the local (UK) warehouse has been IN STOCK... this is very important as if even one item is 'backorder' then it will hold up your entire order. This is likely the case for many of these negative reviews. HK is clear and upfront about this so I find many of these reviews to be unfair. My items have all shipped within 24 hours and have been at my door within 36 hours of order. In two of three cases they were delivered the very next day. I am in NW London. Also understand that if you order from a warehouse other than your local warehouse you are rolling dice. The 'global' or 'international' warehouse means CHINA. I made this mistake with my first order. I was ensared by the even cheaper 'sale' prices. Well the item shipped fast. Was in the UK within 5 days of order. Then there was not a single update on the tracking for four weeks! At which point I was informed that a customs duty was due. Total cost of shipping + customs was DOUBLE the cost of the item!!! I refused to accept delivery and had the item sent back to HK. I contacted HK via online chat to inform them of this and they said my refund (store credit at this point but I am negotiating) will post to my account once the return arrives and is confirmed. This is completely fair. I'd be fine with the store credit except that I just couldn't wait and ordered a different EDF Mig-15 park flyer to abuse! So I couldn't wait to use store credit and hope to just get my money back... but even if not I WILL be making another order sooner rather than later... my next order yet to arrive includes HK's 'Orange' brand of Spektrum compatible Rx... I will report on the quality and performance as I purchased a micro 4 channel, 7 channel and a few satellite Rxs. This is a LONG review, but I'd like to defend HK. Given their crazy good prices and excellent quality even crap service would be appreciated... but the fact is, in my experience, their Customer Service as EXCELLENT and much better than can reasonably be expected at the discount. Just remember to make sure you purchase 1) items that are IN STOCK!! 2) items FROM YOUR LOCAL WAREHOUSE!!! 3) use the online chat feature and make sure you get a trouble ticket number /reference number for your issue and you will be better than fine. And plan for STORE CREDIT in case of return. 30 day return for store credit with NO QUESTIONS ASKED... I find the poor reviews completely out of proportion and unfair. Sure some is legit, but the VAST MAJORITY is the result of lazy 'effers who don't read the rules and don't pay attention to what they are doing or have stupid and unreasonable expectations. HK ROCKS! buy in stock and local and you'll be rewarded."
"I purchased an RC car from this site for around 400 bucks and the reverse did not work at all. I have contacted their support group a couple of times and NEVER get an answer as to what THEY are going to do about this DOA unit. I asked about shipping and even though the unit was bad when I received it I will still have to pay 50 bucks to ship it back. The following is a link to one of the request/responses I have gotten from the.

The case is under investigation yet they deemed it as solved. I call in to talk about the issue and they said I needed to open a new ticket because the old one is resolved. Look elsewhere to purchase items even if they are a little more expensive. It will save you a lot of time/money in the long run. It's highly annoying having a half working RC car. "
"I ordered a lot of material to build a tricopter back in october of 2012. It was never delivered and returned to shipper (HobbyKing) in December, 2012. Hobbyking will not issue a credit even though I never received the package. they say that they keep asking the postal company to track the package to ensure it was delivered back to them. Since it was never received by the buyer(me), they should issue the credit and do their own research on the package. Instead, they hold me hostage for something I NEVER received."
"I ordered a T-45 Goshawk R/C 64mm EDF Jet EPO Plug-n-Fly from Hobbyking and it arrived without a nose cone and the cockpit seating was warped. They required me to send the jet back to the China manufacturer, which would cost more in shipping than the jet itself. And no, not all sellers do this. I ordered a 90mm composite BAe Hawk from Scaleflying.com and it arrived damaged. After sending them photos of the damage, not only did they let me KEEP the partially damaged BAe Hawk but they quickly sent me ANOTHER brand new BAe Hawk and they paid for shipping! That kind of service goes a long way with me. "
"I'm a student in BSEE Program of Miami Dade College and I've ordered several items for my Applied Robotics Class. During checkout there were about five shipping options, none of them I was familiar with. I chose the option checked by default. None of them had any estimates of time in transit, however, the prices were on the order of what UPS, FedEx, or DHL are charging for similar weight. After I received the confirmation email with HK Post Tracking Number, I tried almost every day to get tracking info, but nothing is available almost ten days later.
If something is sounds too good to be true, its definitely is NOT good, and neither is Hobbyking's shipping methods or its customer service."
"hobby king stole my money and is now in dispute through pay pal. Do not under any circumstances order from this online store no matter how good the prices are. pay pal paid them and they showed the order was unpaid after 2 weeks then the entire order was deleted from my customer account. there is no way to talk or contact anyone. email is not working!"
"This site is absolutely terrible. I placed an order over 3 weeks ago. The credit card was charged immediately, and the status was switched to shipped within 3 days ago. Almost 3 weeks later, I can not find any information about where it is. I have tried to chat many times, but before I can even type what is wrong, the chat session ends. I sent an email 2 weeks ago, and have not got a reply. Of course there is no telephone number. I will try to get the credit card company to refund the money. Do not do business with this company their low prices do not mean anything if you cannot get what you ordered. I wish I could give it a zero star."
