Harassing phone calls and texts

"First a call from Home Advisor Co, Rep from ***-***-****
asking me if I was interested in leads from Home Advisor,
I was then sitting with a customer placing an order and this unsolicited call was interfering with business.

I said "No Thank You, and explained we are busier than ever, but thank you for the call"
and hung up. Then the texts started asking me if I " rudely hang up on all my customers"
DO NOT USE THESE SCAMMERS, they are obsolete and won't be around long

IF YOU'RE A SERVICE PROVIDER OR HOMEOWNER DO NOT GO TO HOMEADVISOR FOR LEADS!! BEWARE!!!

"We have been a service provider with Home Advisor since before it was HomeAdvisor and since the change from Service Magic about 8 years ago it has gone downhill. First of all, if you're a contractor, they charge you PER lead, regardless if you get the lead or not. You have to call the customer immediately in order to get the lead. We are good about staying on top of this so that isn't the BIGGEST issue with us, albeit, still a huge issue. Next, many of the leads are garbage and you have to fight tooth and nail with someone at HomeAdvisor in order to get credited back your money. To top things off, and really what put the nail in the coffin of this horrible scamming company--we just found out that we were being charged a "Membership Fee" of $84.99 per month for the past 3 years! After speaking with a customer service representative, we were made aware that they have an ANNUAL membership fee of $289.99/year which, if we were made aware of, we would have chosen since it is much cheaper to pay in full like that. After 3 years, we found that we have paid $3,059.64 for this "Monthly membership" when IF WE WERE MADE AWARE, we would have paid the annual fee for a total (3 years) of $869.97. If you do the math, the difference, what we OVERPAID, is $2,189.67. So we spoke with customer service reps, as well as a supervisor and the BEST they offered us was a pathetic $100.00 reimbursement. This company is out to SCAM you if you're a business-owner and it's completely pathetic and dishonest. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH HOMEADVISOR. The phonebook is much better than this! So dishonest. BEWARE!!!"

BUM LEADS

"GARBAGE GARBAGE GARBAGE GARBAGE

Home advisors lead base are people that; "already hired a contractor a week ago", "were just messing around on the site to see how it works", never answer their phone, are not home for appointments they set, or don't have the money to pay for the services they are requesting. That'll be $150 you are out of pocket by lunch time. IT DOESN'T GET BETTER! Who wants more free leads like that?

I was a home advisor contractor for 3 years.

I NEVER landed a single job from their service.

Bad

"The people I've hired through Home Advisor have lied about what they've done where I had to have the work redone and completed later, didn't follow through and never returned again, and were rude and obnoxious. For example, this yard maintenance company sent his young son to do the work. It took several weeks to do the yard cleanup and he never completed the hedge. He said I needed to have rocks put up against the house to prevent damage from the rain. He brought the rocks, dumped them then never came back. The guy had talked a lot and kept wanting to do other things taking him away from the Initial cleanup. I had to always stand over him to get stuff done. I sent him a text and email messagesasking when he was coming back with no responses. I proceeded to let him go. I will never use Home Advisor again."

Expensive Garbage Leads -STAY AWAY!!

"I was dumb enough to sign up a second time with them after falling for their pitch of better lead filtering, etc. NO! The leads are 90% garbage, their requirements to get a credit are ridiculous, and you end up paying A LOT for VERY little.

Especially if you are looking for commercial leads - STAY AWAY!! Take the advice of the many others on this site and DO NOT GET HOOKED by them!!

Deceptive company

"We clicked on Stanley Steemer and got HomeAdvisor instead. We didn't order anything nor did we get a quote since we soon realized whose website we were using. A while later we got a phone call saying the bill for their 'service' was $35. "

Absolute effin' scam.

"The sentiments of those on here are well founded. I signed up for $300 or so a year, got a ton of "leads" at $12 and was billed for each lead sent. Its like Best Buy billing you for every single TV you look at or every CC company signing you up despite only knowing your address. Stay the heck away. Stay away stay away stay away. I just lit $700 into flames. On some level shame on me. DO NOT use them if you are a home owner and especially if you are a subcontractor. Stay the hell away. How many bad reviews do you need to read?"

F!U! HomeAdvisor !!!!

"Scam!!!, Rip OFF!!!, Fake Leads!!! I have been charged for nothing, customers don't even answer, some of the leads were fake, fees for the leads outrageous, I pay every month for other advertising, but at least I am getting business or I am talking to real people, I am in business for a very long time, and after calling them multiple time, they are teaching me how to run my business and what I am doing wrong, anyway, Homeadvisor is a waste of your money, energy and have fun to talk to them or getting refund for horrible leads. I have one question, why in this day technology, we don't have an organization or something like internet policies to shut them down or make them proof and regulate somehow, so they will STOP Scamming honest technicians. I hope they will pay one day for all this because me and all my friends that used them, we all paid a lot for nothing!!! "

STAY AWAY, BIG SCAM, If I could give it no stars I would

"I can echo what everyone else has said, this is a HUGE SCAM. Your first few leads are reasonable, then after a month or so, they start screwing you over with fake leads, outrageous fees even for the leads that don't answer. Duplicates that you get charged for. They don't give you refunds to your charge card, they say they will give you free leads the next month, but you will never see it. In the 6 months I have been a member, I have had to call every month and spend 2 hours disputing my bill. I have a cap of $650 a month set on my account, but somehow they always go over. so far they have charged me in 6 months $8855. I am disputing at least half of these charges, but will probably never see a refund or anything. I'M DONE WITH THEM."

Home advisor for contractors is a rip off.

"They charge $30 for a lead for a job that might bring you $150, $200 max. "

Sorry to say but they are a complete rip off!

" I have been a contractor with Home Advisor for a few months now, I booked a complete remodle so I wanted to put my leads on hold, through there website you can put them on hold for 14 days, I needed longer so I called there customer service dept and placed them on hold until I contacted them back. Didnt think anything of it until they took $900 + from my account, according to home advisor there is nothing they can do. Please do yourself a favor use thumbtac or another lead site these guys will rip you off and quick and belive me you will never see it coming! Please heed all these warnings and don't use this company. I'm disgusted that a company can get away with what Home Advisor gets away with everyday its awful that they scam the honest hard workinng people like they do."

Dryer Vent Cleaning

"I signed up on HomeAdvisor to find someone to clean my dryer vent. An appointment was made on line, confirmed on line and I was reminded of my appointment on line with Preferred Home Improvements which was HomeAdvisor's recommendation. The time came and went and after several hours I tried to reach them with no success. I had to rearrange my schedule for this appointment and just wanted people in the area to know that this company did have my phone number, did not have the courtesy to let me know they weren't coming and have not returned my calls."

Not good for your business.

"I have used Home Advisor (HA) for about two years, only turning it on during slow spells for the company. Every time I used it though I was let down because the cost for leads was to great, the market is flooded with business that are new and go under within a year or two, and the only reason I did not cancel is because it felt like a safety net to fall back on when times got slow. I did however cancel today. HA went back on their word regarding a credit for an "opportunity". They said that I would only have to pay if I made contact with the customer (it was a business asking to talk to with me directly, this one lead cost $136.00). The customer however did not answer and HA will not refund me even though I showed them their own email stating the agreement, and had also called the customer from the HA app multiple times with no response. HA is not a good company for a business to develop a relationship with and my advice is to cut the cord as soon as your company has the ability to. Relying on HA is like man living on credit... if you need the cards to live your life will only be harder, so stabilized and find other sources of income."
