Biggest rip off in the history of scammers...

"This company is a complete rip off. I've only dropped a grand or so, but I will spend the rest of 2019 managing this nightmare. Leads are over priced and customers are very poor quality. Got 2 leads on Christmas day and 1 the day after. Couldn't connect with any of them but not eligible for a refund...know why? Got to call them within 24 hours. Christmas day, right.
I emailed Every client within 12 hours...and ironically the only job I did get was a $400 job ($75 referral fee) that I never called but connected with online via my email. Just a terrible company but the owner makes 62 million a year....by ripping off the working man.
This is my 17th year of successful business ownership....gave these jokers a try to fill in a bit of slow time for winter...and regret it. Thieves is too kind of word.

HomeAdvisor Bad

"I have a construction company, and I have a membership with homeadvisor, and now
I realize they are thieves. In April 2018 I was working and of course my leads were paused
homeadvisor start sending leads to me by e mail ONLY, I never had a call either text messages
after 4 days when I saw my e mail, I realize they were sending leads but I didn't know
they $358,50 from my bank account, I called to costumer service, but there wasn't nothing
to do about it.
In January 2nd 2019, I had 2 leads coming from homeAdvisor; one of them told me she never
request a service from homeadvisor, then I called to costumer service to request a refund
of $80,60, this was the very high price of the lead, which didn't exist, but again I couldn't
do anything about it; they said I had to evaluate the investment with them, because
according with them, I was making a lot of money with the jobs they are providing to my company
definitely this people are THIEVES

Do not trust

"
I hired Shine Home Cleaning services in Utah and it was very dissapointing. I broke my leg and I needed help cleaning my home, so I checked Home Advisors in the hope that I can find the right help. The reviews looked legit, however Shine Home Cleaning services from Utah were expensive $385 for a deep home cleaning and $150 for a bi-weekly cleaning, not up to par, argumentative when I showed what they need to do better next time, no show as per schedule, broke a blind and put it together with clear tape to hide it, while they pushed to give them my home keys to clean when I was not home (which I found it awkard). Then I found out that friends can fake services and write reviews. From now on I will go with cleaning services companies and not use Home Advisors as I can't trust the companies they list on their website.

CONTRACTORS DO NOT USE

"We started up again with Home Advisor on 12/12/2018. We were assured the leads would be verified and not bogus leads which is why we put our account on hold. They refuse to credit a lead that was a renter and did not own house ( their reasoning was that it was still a lead and maybe the landlord wanted it done) HOW RIDICULOUS. The other leads the customers say they did not fill out anything and does not want anything and do not call again. Again they refused to credit. Another lead told us they have no intentions of doing any home improvement work, do not call again. Also not credited. This is a continuous way of them getting your money and you have nothing to show for it. We have called them twice today with our concerns and they said there was nothing they could do. So again we cancelled all future leads with them. Cusotmer service is horrible to dael with. Save your money. "

Home Advisor Bad For New Humble Businesses

"I was solicited by a home advisor salesperson a few months ago. I was sold a service without all the information and almost immediately felt buyer's remorse. Nonetheless I gave HomeAdvisor a try and found that any time I spoke to a paid lead it went nowhere. It fell as though they were not quality customers looking for actual service but instead shopping around for a lower rate. Long story short I cancel my membership after weeks of keeping my lead flow off because I was having more luck with local word of Mouth than paying for leads on Home Advisor. One day I receive a lead and I'm surprised to see that I have one as I had intentionally kept shutting off the lead flow management. I immediately call Home Advisor to tell them about my experience with the service and that I do not wish to be a member any longer. The reason for my cancellation was I cannot afford to pay for leaves as a new business owner and feel as though the sales person who sold me the service sold me something different from what he had rehearsed over the phone. HomeAdvisor explained that does their policy to not do refunds but rather credits. I explained to them that I had already canceled my account and that a credit would not serve me. They continue to assure me that they do not do refunds. I then express how I am dissatisfied with the fact that when I signed up for service I was not informed that there was a 3-day cancellation. For a full refund and that had I known that I would have gladly obliged. I asked for them to pull the tape but then they tell me that that will take 14 to 20 days because the very difficult and painstaking process. I asked to speak with another manager and I'm told that all are busy and it would probably take one to two days and that they would not be able to help me either way. As a brand new business owner who has never made an income higher than the poverty level I am greatly dissatisfied by the actions of Home Advisor. I had explained to two individuals that this lead that they are fighting tooth-and-nail over is also the same lead that Sue other professionals received and we're likely charged the same amount and that there is no good reason why Home Advisor could collect around $90 for one lead but not be able to afford to refund my $28.78. With no doubt HomeAdvisor is a million-dollar company that can certainly afford a $29 refund. There is no good reason why Home Advisor needs to make money off the backs of small business owners. I will never use Home Advisor again and I will never speak kindly of Home Advisor. I feel as though Home Advisor only prey upon new business owners that they have Googled (states away mind you) and ask open-ended questions (that anyone would answer yes to) in order to coerce into purchasing their service."

As a Contractor DO NOT USE!

"I've been with Home Advisor when they started out as Service Magic. There prices have doubled and send more bogus leads than real leads. Just beware, most contractors that I have spoke with about this service stopped using it for the same reasons. Stay away or leave."

DO NOT USE HOMEADVISOR, HORRIBLE COMPANY

"I have used homeadvisor for years. I have had numerous arguments about bad leads to the point where I stopped paying but eventually did. They DO NOT back their contractors, they only want their money. So far, right this minute I have been placed on hold for over 50 minutes. There customer service is horrible to put it nicely. I have spoken to other lead companies who are much more professional and stand by their contractors. Do not give into homeadvisor's sales tactics. Find another company. You will deeply regret using homeadvisor. Not to mention, their prices for leads are always changing.

For the contractors that are thinking about using homeadvisor, understand you WILL get MANY homeowners that will not answer calls, emails or texts even though they put in leads for work they want done. Homeadvisor says you can dispute this but later on tell you it is not their fault the homeowners do not answer. Do not waste your hard earned money on this company.

They send scammers. Beware!

"This is very bad service. They send me some scammers from Oak Plumbing in Vacaville, CA. They came for an appraisal, told me it would be $520. I hired them and signed. Then they called me saying it would actually cost $1400 but they gave me a $400 discount. I refused them, called another plumber that did the job right for $200. When I tried to put a review on HomeAdvisor they rejected them saying I didn't have them do the job. Of course I didn't they are ripping me off. I feel bad for others that might rely on HomeAdvisor only for them to send scammers and to cover their rip off up by not allowing an honest review of the scam."

Cant Get A Hold Of Customers To Save My Life

"We have found it to be next to impossible to get in contact with customers, and cannot figure out how to solve the issue. We have a CSR dedicated to answering the requests as SOON as they come in and only get in contact with around 20% of them. This creates a whole other part of the job for the CSR, they spent a good portion of their time requesting credit back on the leads we don't get in contact with, as well as time spent reviewing the leads, which we thought would be reporting to HA that we are having trouble, but this obviously hasn't worked because we are still calling dead lines or getting voicemails. ALSO the opportunity feature has been a total crash and burn for us, we get the notification, and before we can even pull up the phone number to call the customer it is expired. I'm not exaggerating, when i say this either, me, my partner, and our CSR were together when all 3 of our phones alerted us of a lead, we all scrambled to pull it up and call the customer only to find out that within the .5 seconds it took us to unlock our phone, the lead opportunity had already expired."

Frustrating experience

"My message would be for contractors who are planning to do business with Homeadvisor.com. Think twice before you sign contract with these guys. They will cheat on you and rob your banking account the way they treated me. After three weeks of being with them I checked my account and was in complete shock to see that I was charged $500. During this period of time I didn't receive a single call from the customer, which means never performed a single job. Still they charged me for every lead they sent to my account, and those were not cheap, several of them were $85. After two days of fighting with their so called customer service when they kept either hung up on me or transferring to different representatives I cancelled the membership with $900 taken from my account ( including $347 fee for membership). Now it's up to you to decide if you want to deal with these thieves or not. Very disappointed with their customer service and professional attitude."

Hit and miss

"I'd say they get it right about 70 percent of the time. Problem is they will publish all the positive reviews you want to write but when you post a negative review... well not so fast. Maybe they will post it, maybe they won't.

Home Advisor is a Scam for Contractors

"Home Advisor bought Angies List and is a scam for honest contractors. They use to be called service magic but there was so many complaints and law suits they changed to home advisor. This company could put contractors out of business. Let me repeat: This company could put contractors out of business. This company could put contractors out of business.

Home advisor works on a SECRET CREDIT RATING!!!!!! They keep this to themselves and don't tell you. They over billed my company - continuously. They Do Not give credit for unreachable potential clients and give sales tax service charges not disclosed during sign up. They charged our company for 95% for wrong information or wrong phone numbers. Stay Away from home advisor. 55 calls in 3 months and only 13 were real people who needed service, and only 3 books. Meaning i paid an average of $30 for 55 leads $1650. with only 3 jobs that we grossed $420. They charge every single contractor who lists with home advisor more then the job and regardless of contact or getting the work.

Deceptive policies

"If you are a single horse company (no employees), run far and run fast. If you don't have somebody to babysit your account, deceptive alerts will accompany any account pauses you may have placed (as in my case). And they DO NOT REFUND; you're dealing with a fat man CEO who thinks you are invisible and could never register a legitimate complaint, especially if it involves a refund."
