"after they insisted work with this company, I decided try, they start send me a leads from areas that we don't cover start charge me tons a money. Contractors on general please don't make deal with this joke company. "
"I'm a pro.... the bad bad experience ever I had as a company, they trick the companies and don't explain good how it works and once you're in they charge $900 weekly only to share the customers info. They're like w drugs cartel, I'm less than 2 weeks with no jobs take and I owe more than $2000 and spent around $600 this is incredible.... don't don't use this tricky people.. and the first seller marketing block you to receive your call. "
"These people are a joke. You ask to just be listed on the site and then without asking they send you leads after you express that you don’t ever want a paid lead. Then they send you a bill for the leads that you never use. Also, what kind of lead is worth $75 a piece? I don’t know how this business exists since all of what they do is illegal, you can’t charge someone for something they never asked for. "
"Their contractors do not show up for their appointments. I called HA after being stood up twice ( I took off work). The rep looked me up and found my account. When I was cut off, the rep didn't even call me back. Yes they had my number. Their service is non existent. I will never use them again."
"I am a small AC company in Florida. I signed up for HomeAdvisor and was sent 11 leads from 1/2/19 to 1/7/19. Each was at a cost of $70. I spoke with one customer and they had no idea why I was calling. The company refuses to compensate me in any way for the over $700 they charged me. They are a huge company putting small business out of business with promises of leads."
"DO NOT SIGN UP!!! these scamers will call you all day long, every single day.
Then they just take your money for poor service if you can call them a service.
Your number will be send to even more scamers and they will just **** your life.
They are pieces of **** looking to make easy money, DO NOT SIGN UP, HOME ADVISOR IS A SCAM!!!"
"It would be easier to simply throw your money in the garbage rather than deal with the unending stream of absolute nonsense from HomeAdvisor. For a being a giant operation, I am unsure how they are not technically a scam. Their infrastructure is garbage. Their website has links and buttons that do not work. Their people are unqualified and uninterested in doing ANYTHING but upselling you something that does not work. Run away from this company as fast as you can... "
"The vast majority of the leads we received were worthless. I even had a Home Advisor employee inform me that the leads are not really leads, just advertisement to get our name out there. Sounds like FALSE ADVERTISING on Home Advisors part to me. So we opted to cancel our membership. They are still trying to send us leads and bill us after we cancelled our account. I received an email from them on 1/3/2019 asking for feedback as to why we cancelled our account. On 1/7/2019 they sent us a lead. When I called them to ask for a refund they denied me. I also have an email from 2/8/2018 informing us that they are crediting my account for a lead because they were able to confirm that we did have our leads turned off. This seems to be a bad habit of Home Advisor. "
"Our contracting and remodeling company agreed to work w/ HomeAdvisor. They do not do what they say, they send leads that are out of our range. They charged our credit card for leads that did not pan out. They would not give our money back for charges they automatically charged every week. The phone would ring or text at all hours of the night and said we had to return the calls or emails within 15 minutes of the notification. We emailed to stop and they continued to charge us. They said they would only give credit to the account with them and not our credit card. We had to freeze our card and report the fraud. A nightmare! I would not trust them on either side of the transactions."
"I am an architect and thought this would give me some business. I was out almost $500 in the first week and in line to loose hundreds more. Home advisor does not tell you how they charge and they are misleading. THIS IS A SCAM"
"I signed up for this service for my business and was soon met with false leads for services I don't offer and charged lots of money. They always picked the most expensive lead. I was calling people and they always seemed confused as to why I was calling them about the service I had been told they wanted through the leads. This service is a business scam. I deal with tech support scam in repairing computers and this is just the same exact thing but in a different form.
I repair computers and provide other tech services such as security camera installs. I do not install 60+ ft tower antennas and was being sent for those leads. A simple TV repair is an inexpensive lead but they turned it into a home theater install which is a costly lead.
There were some legit leads but they were all price shoppers and you were forced to compete in a bidding war with other contractors. These customers were very low quality and just looking for the cheapest price. So much for helping the business. And we have to PAY for the right to go through this nonsense...
All of the negative reviews you are reading here are absolutely true. I told them I wanted to cancel and never got a response. It was only after I told them that I had cancelled my debit card that I was given a call. Yeah, I had to file a fraud dispute, cancel my debit card, and redo all my autopay accounts which was a hassle.
They then threatened to send me to collections. I told them to go ahead and do so because they weren't going to get anything from me. They waived all charges owed to me at that time.
This is a scam so do not let the smooth talkers claim things will get better and that this is a good service for your business. It is a parasitic scam and needs to be shut down and those in charge held accountable."
"Hired a contractor from Home Advisor who skipped town with my $5,000 deposit. Home advisor says they do background checks on their contractors. Turns out my Home Advisor contractor is a convicted felon with warrants out for his arrest. Met with a dozen other victims who hired this contractor from Home Advisor who got ripped off for thousands of dollars. Do not under any circumstances use Home Advisor!"
"Wow did I get bated into this shark trap. I was foolish and took the bare without doing my research. Soon after within hours I actually cancelled it. Having not recieved the refund and not trusting them I filed a disputed via credit card company. Long story short Home asdvisor threatened to send me to collections for the payment that I filed a dispute for. They said they sent me a refund hmm we will see. So yes very deceptive manipulative and evil company. Don’t trust them. I paid the money that they were asking but I don’t trust them even with my card number thankfully I got out not having tons of charges for leads I didn’t even ask for like so many others. They will have their place in the lake of fire. Repent Home Advisor sharks for being evil theives!"
"I just started a home improvement business and thought I could get it off the ground so I tried home advisor. I got busy put my leads on pause but they still kept coming through my phone for 2 months and I thought that you only pay if you do a job. I never called any leads back and they still took over $3500.00 from my bank account and no refunds they completely mislead me I think this is a horrible company and stealing money from hard working people. Please don’t use this company."
"This company is a complete rip off. I've only dropped a grand or so, but I will spend the rest of 2019 managing this nightmare. Leads are over priced and customers are very poor quality. Got 2 leads on Christmas day and 1 the day after. Couldn't connect with any of them but not eligible for a refund...know why? Got to call them within 24 hours. Christmas day, right.
I emailed Every client within 12 hours...and ironically the only job I did get was a $400 job ($75 referral fee) that I never called but connected with online via my email. Just a terrible company but the owner makes 62 million a year....by ripping off the working man.
This is my 17th year of successful business ownership....gave these jokers a try to fill in a bit of slow time for winter...and regret it. Thieves is too kind of word."
