"I really wanted to like J&P as a friend recommended them. Instead my experience was a mix of disappointment and daily phone calls for almost a week as I attempted to fix their problem.
I will say that the front line phone folks do a good job, but are handy capped by technical problems with their website and their tier 2 "supervisors"
I ordered a set of Michelin Road 6 tires for my K1600 GTL from their website. After the order was placed, a e-mail was set to me outlining the details of my order. The e-mail showed the wrong back tire. I went back to the website and looked at my order, and it was correct. I called their support line to discuss the discrepancy between the e-mail and the on-line system. The person (who I didnt get the name of) who answered the line was very pleasant and told me to wait for the tire to arrive, and if it was in fact the wrong one - they would expedite me the correct tire and fix the problem.
The tire came, and it was in fact the wrong one. So I called in the very next day and Judy supposedly got the situation fixed - she sent me the return label so I could send back the tire that was wrong and I thought all was well. I drove out to UPS and returned the tire. The next day, the on-line system did not show that I was getting a replacement. So I called in again to ensure the system showed I returned the tire that was incorrect and that my new tire was correct. This time I believe it was John (I had many phone calls so I may have the names out of order). John said Judy accidently ordered the wrong tire as she didnt notice the system was wrong. So John fixed the order and told me to wait 24 to 48 hours to get my tracking number.
24 hours later, their system still showed no updates. Now of course I am paranoid because I have trip planed with the bike and I have no tire. So I called in and a very pleasant person said if I had not heard anything by the 48 hour mark to call back.
48 hours later - nothing. No website update, no e-mail. So I call in and this time I think I got Steven (again names could be out of order). Steven could not figure out what was happening, but gave me the canned response of "...well you need to wait 24-48 hours". So I tell him it was in fact 48 hours. Now what? He said let me get a supervisor.
The supervisor was Connie. Connie was less smooth that her front line phone people. She gave me the feeling that she was being pleasant because I was a customer, but was irritated that she had to deal with me. In the end, she let me know that she wasn't sure why there was no update for me, but PROMISED she would call me back within the hour.
No phone call back from Connie. So the next day I call in again. It's now 72 hours past the 48 hour "expedited" guarantee we will fix this problem window. I get another very pleasant front line person so apologized for Connie and said she sent an internal message to have her call me and updated me why my expedited tire had not shipped.
Another day goes by, another day no phone call from Connie. I am now mad at Connie and thinking about how her actions are affecting the way I think about J&P. She is also the reason I am taking the time to write this story. I call in again, 4 days beyond the expedited "we promise to fix this" window and 2 days after Connie promised to call me back within the hour and 1 day after she was asked to call me back and didn't.
At this point in time, I am looking for a local shop to get me a tire because after all this time my trip is going to happen and I still have no tire from J&P. The front line person who answered the phone this time is of course very pleasant and apologetic. I tell her that when/if the tire ever comes from J&P it will have to be a spare because their "expedited" process is exactly the opposite. She said she felt bad about the situation and gave me a $25 credit. Which was very nice.
Long story short, this review would have sounded much different had Connie done her job and called me back, gave me updates and at least let me feel like my upcoming trip which depended on this tire was important. Instead, she single handedly made my experience a two star affair. If she had behaved as her front line people, I would have made it a 4 star as system glitches happen and I could have planned accordingly. I hope this review gets looked at by someone higher up in the food chain than Connie so that the appropriate "training" can happen for her. Perhaps she is not cut out for a customer facing position."
