"I ordered a Lenovo laptop from J&R to be shipped and delivered by a certain date. The next day they tried calling to say the credit card approval hadn't gone through. There was an issue with my phone number. Realizing I needed the laptop in a couple of days, they managed to track me down, got the payment resolved, and then offered to upgrade my shipping from 2nd Day delivery to overnight, without me asking and at no cost to me!
I had talked to three different persons in the process, and in each case I was treated very well. I very much doubt if any other seller would have gone to this length to keep a customer satisfied. But in my case i can honestly say they did. Clearly it was a very pleasant experince, and I hope they continue to maintain it. "
"The purchase went well. The only thing that didn't go exactly right as advertised is that I placed the order Friday night and per the purchase confirmation, the computer was to ship on Monday. It didn't ship until Tuesday. "

"I received a defective product but could not get through to the customer service number printed on the shipping insert for more than a week-- I was continually transferred to another 800 number that then disconnected me. When I finally called the sales number to try to reach customer service, I was told that my 30 days had expired and there was nothing I could do. Terrible customer service and with so many other online shopping options with fair return policies and easy to reach, helpful customer service, there is no reason to give J and R any more of my business.
added 4/2/13: After my last disappointing experience with J and R customer service I received a call and email about half an hour after posting this response. The customer service representative apologized for the other experience offering to refund the purchase of the defective product. I mailed back the product and hope that they will in fact refund my purchase. I am happy that they responded to my request for help (I had also emailed asking for help) and am not sure if it was this negative review or my email that prompted the quick help, but it would be easiest to provide that kind of support at the outset (i.e. a working number/correct info on the materials shipped out and helpful and trained phone representatives). If they do refund the purchase I will post an update here.
Also, I only called the SALES number one time as the CUSTOMER SERVICE number listed on the info J and R sent was the one that kept sending me to a number that was disconnecting me.

"I bought an open-box laptop from them and it arrived with no battery. There is no way to use a laptop without a battery. I got an e-mail from their customer service on 03/22 stating they would help me obtain the oem battery. I have not heard from them since and it's been over four days. I'd expect a little more agility in handling the issue. I'd like them to either send me a oem battery to replace the missing one or refund me $85 to purchase one myself. Overall, I'm really unsatisfied with the way they are handling this situation. I will likely never buy anything from JR in the future not recommend the company to friends/family. "
"I was a reluctant to have a 55" plasma TV delivered across the country to CA, but my experience with J&R was great. I ordered my TV over the phone, the sales rep was nice and helpful, and I was able to get a lower, unadvertised price because I called in and asked. The TV arrived in perfect shape, although J&R do open the box before they ship it to put more padding inside for better protection. From what I can tell, they inserted two bags of expanding foam on each side of the TV to better secure it, and taped accessories to the packaging to ensure nothing was lost. Great experience, and would order with them again!"
