"bought a pair of polarized ray-ban baloramas from jomashop. had already purchased a mid-grade tonneau-shaped "beater" eco-drive citizen from them already. wonderful price. fast and careful shipping. exactly what i wanted.

back to the sunglasses.... been wearing baloramas since 1989. as a biker, they're perfect. plus the dirty harry/do you feel feel lucky punk thing. the last pair i bought was 2002 but they either weren't made for a few years or were incredibly hard to find; harder in the years afterward. then i went to the theatre to see "ford vs. ferrari" in november. at times this film seemed to be an advertisement for ray-ban baloramas (and coca-cola). if you've seen it, you understand. of course i went online to search for a pair and jomashop had the best deal.

unfortunately what arrived were not the baloramas i remember, much less the ones splayed ten feet wide on the movie screen.

these were lightweight (originals had some heft and felt like quality eyewear), shiny (originals were nylon and semi-matte in finish),
the logo was pressed into the arms (no logo there before) which was not flush but looked as if the plastic was still hot when it was applied, leaving a wave around it. the lenses are supposed to be greenish glass but have a greasy blue tint on the inside. worst of all, the rivets on one arm were not flush, both sticking out about two millimeters.

they were total junk.

i called jomashop and spoke to a rep who assured me they were real and were purchased from ray-ban directly. i knew this already and spoke of the poor quality. he directed me to other brands with a similar style and suggested i buy a pair from ray-ban to be sure. i did, for $66 more, to find the same junk (rivets flush this time).

i returned the first pair to ray-ban for a refund (which is another ongoing story). i've gotten used to them as they fit well and with the lighter weight are more comfortable for long rides and all-day wearing; yet, i miss the substantial feel of the originals and i could give a [CENSORED] less about the logo pressed into the arms.

i visit jomashop often and will continue to purchase watches from them. as for ray-bans.... maybe not.
