" This is my first encounter with Lenovo and it is a very bad one for a company as big as Lenovo.

On Feb. 26, I went online at logicbuy.com and hope to find a good laptop for my daughter. I saw a Lenovo Y550p laptop with i7 and window 7 home premium listed at $1,295 with a discount of $300 off and a stackable e-coupon with 20% off which brings the units price down to $759.20. Looks like a very nice deal right! So I went online Lenovo and ordered the laptop before the e-coupon expires which is on the 27th.

I used my debit card and completed the ordering process, got a customer number and an order number got a estimate shipping date an everything was good right. Wrong!!!! Two days later, I got an email from Lenovo saying they have cancelled my order because they'd made an error online with the e-coupon pricing so now is at a price of $100 more. Don't get me wrong, even at a $100 more is still a good deal but the fact is that this deal is good for the first 250 customer and if my math is correct the mistake they made would only cost them $25,000 for a multi million or even billion dollar business that is not even enough for 30 seconds of advertisement right. Why would they risk their reputation and getting 250 customers unhappy. Anyway I went to best buy and see if I could get something else around that price range, and I saw a toshiba model which is very nice and my daughter likes it so I went to the cashier and with the same debit card trying to
purchase it but I found out that Lenovo had charge
the card, and now that got me really upset. This is a badly run company and their customer support is all mess up. I'd call their sales center and they said they only know to charged my card but they didn't know anything about the order status.
WTF, I have to call my bank and see if I could get my money back, and I have to contact the BBB to see what I could do. For everyone out there I strongly recommend that to stay away from these people and go with another brand. Imagine if they could do this on an order, what will happen if you do get the product and have to deal with their support. I will never in my life purchase anything from Lenovo I promise. To sum it all up is like Lenovo is trying to bait you in and then get you to pay more, not to mention charge you credit card first then figure something out later. It is all my fault I should have read reviews on this forum before I press the switch and I didn't know Lenovo is a China owned company. This is a Chinese runned company and I am chinese, believe me I know how they do things in China, they have no sympathy for anybody, just their profit, so after you paid you are dead. In my case I didn't even get anything and they charge me.

"I truly wish that I had taken the time to look Lenovo up on this website before placing my order.

Typically, when I have something shipped to my house, I'm not home, because I have a job. But usually, I have the opportunity to pick my package up from UPS. Apparently, with UPS ground, this is only an option of the shipper requests it. I assume that most shippers do, because I have never had this problem. But Lenovo does not. Strike one.

When Lenovo received my order back at their warehouse, they charged me a $5 reprocessing fee. Strike two.

For a company as large as Lenovo, their customer service line has the worst hours: M-F 9am-7pm EST. In my job, it is rarely possible for me to call during these hours. Most of their competitors have hours seven days a week. Strike three.

Granted, I bear some of the blame in this fiasco, but I really feel as though much of the hassle I experienced shopping with Lenovo would have been avoided had I shopped with a more reputable retailer. All I want in exchange for my hard-earned money is my product in my hand. I don't need difficulties reaching customer service, frustrations, and fees. I have nothing to show for it. I will not be shopping with them again.

"In my entire career in IT, no company has managed to match Lenovo for truly awful customer service.

I placed an order for about $8000 worth of laptops and accessories for our business on the 23rd of November, 2009. I had no issues ordering them and getting a confirmation e-mail stating that the order had been received and that they'd ship within a few days. The accessories shipped on the 26th of November, no problem. The laptops did not.

I've spent the past 11 weeks on the phone with these people attempting to get two laptops shipped. I've been assured countless times that they'll be shipped by such and such a date, and they never are.

They tried to cancel the order on their end on the 26th of December, sending me a cancellation notice that forced me to call them and inform them that I've got $1200 worth of docking stations and a/c adapters sitting here that I can't use if the order is canceled, so no, they can't cancel it and I expect them to ship the notebooks.

It's now the 26th of January, and the latest update is that they'll ship on the 4th of February. Supposedly. Apparently they really, really mean it this time. They promise. With a cherry on top and everything. Right.

In short: Order from someone else. Even Dell manages to get their orders out in a reasonable amount of time. Nigh on 12 weeks is absolutely inexcusable.

"UPDATE: After my emails to their customer service and filing a complaint with the BBB.org, they suddenly shipped my laptop directly from China with expedited shipping and I should get it by Dec 31st according to UPS. However, I am changing the rating as they missed the Christmas and they shipped the laptop only after I gave them so much headache.

Original review:
I wish I had checked the seller ratings here before ordering anything from them. Since Lenovo bought computers division of IBM, I thought it is a decent company to buy from, but they proved me grossly wrong.

I ordered a laptop on 11/30/09 that showed availability to be shipped within 5 business days during my order. It was a Christmas gift and there was plenty of time for it to be delivered before Christmas. After not receiving the laptop for 2 weeks, I kept checking the order status page. The shipping day of my laptop delayed 2-days at a time until 12/18/09, which was still OK to get it on time. But guess what, on the 18th it suddenly jumped to 01/29/2010!!! Of course they don't respond to my emails and their customer service line is useless since even after waiting for 1 hour and 15 minutes, you cannot get a live person. There is no online chat option as in other reputable companies as well. Now, 2-days before the Chistmas, I don't have the laptop I promised for, all the good online deals are over, local electronics shops are out of popular models and there is not much I can do.

As a summary, Lenovo doesn't ship orders, respond to emails, answer their phones and obviously doesn't care about their customers. This was the most horrible experience with a computer seller yet and I ordered from almost all the other companies before. Even if their prices are lower, trust me it doesn't worth it! Because, I am almost sure that you won't find anybody standing behind the product or provide support when you need it.

I will update this review if ever they ever decide to respond my queries or contact me.

"Lenovo make great laptops, but their customer service is unbelievably bad. Once you place your order on the website it is essentially set in stone. You will have to move heaven and Earth to make changes or cancel it. I tried and failed. I tried to make changes and failed. I tried to cancel and failed. I ended up receiving the laptop I originally configured. "

"While my experience with Lenovo was the worst I had with ordering anything on the internet, it wasn't as horrific as many reviews on this website would leave you to believe.

First of all, ordering on the website was pretty good. I configured my laptop the way I wanted - changing the default processor, hard drive size, and wireless option. When I got the laptop, it was configured exactly as I ordered...with 1 big exception...

I ordered a Y550 laptop during the promo with the release of Windows 7. Naturally, the laptop was supposed to have Windows 7 installed, instead it came with Windows Vista.

I immediately called the Lenovo support -- got a support person right away, no waiting. The tech support person took my information and told me that they were aware of a manufacturing issue and offered me 2 choices - send the laptop into a depot or wait for a CD (in 1 month). I chose the CD option, but was sent a FedEx overnight box anyway.

I went ahead and sent in my laptop on a Tuesday...got it back on Thursday morning with Windows 7 installed (impressive turnaround). I was also sent the CD after a month...don't need it, but it is nice to have for a backup someday. Lenovo spent a quite a bit of money (with overnight shipping)to make it right.

Oh yeah, for my inconvenience, they added another year of warrantee.

Some more food for thought...it took 3.5 weeks to get the laptop. It was assembled in China and did a 1.5 week world tour before it got to me.

After all that, I really love the laptop. It is slightly on the heavy side (the website specs tells you that though), but it seems to be very high quality...and I have used quite a few laptops in my work.

All-in-all, I got a really good deal (the Win 7 sale made it so) and got a lot of laptop for the money. I'd probably do it again, but only for a good price and I'm not in dire need to have a PC right away.

"HORRIBLE. I attempted to purchase a computer for my daughter's Christmas present. The order confirmation page said that it would ship on 12/15. The next day, I checked my account on the website to make sure everything was OK. The est. ship date had changed to 12/24 -- though they didn't send an email to warn me. I called to clarify, and got a 30 min hold time at their call center. The representative was totally unhelpful, so I asked to speak with a supervisor. The supervisor was even less helpful and a bit rude. He tried to convince me that it was somehow my fault.

After I hung up, I decided to cancel & found out that you can't do it on their website... so another 30 min. hold time. They said they'll try to cancel my order, but it's a 2 day process. I asked for an email to confirm cancellation. They said that it's against company policy to send cancellation confirmations.

At that point, I checked resellerratings and found out that my experience was the rule rather than the exception. I wish I had checked before I ordered, but mistakenly thought that there should be no problem buying directly from the manufacturer.

Hopefully someone will read this review and avoid ordering from Lenovo and potentially ruining their own daughter's Christmas.

Update 12/13
The adventure continues. After buying a different computer after being totally frustrated by Lenovo, I got a notice this AM that they shipped it (and, I'm sure, charged my credit card). Now the nightmare of a return hassle begins.

"October 22nd Microsoft officially launched Windows 7. Those of us that skipped terrible Vista finally had an upgrade path we could take after Windows XP. Lenovo took advantage of the Windows 7 release, and advertised a Windows 7 launch of there own, with special sale prices on new laptops that would take advantage of all the great things Windows 7 has to offer. Not only that, but Lenovo worked with MS to specially tweak these Windows 7 laptops, and called this Windows 7 Enhanced Experience. The Lenovo Y550 was one of these special laptops. Great. Sign me up!

A long month later, the laptop arrived. It turns out that it was all a big lie. There never was a Windows 7 laptop or EE. They instead took all the old Vista stock they had left in China, slapped a Windows 7 sticker on the outside, and shipped them. 1000's were dubbed by Lenovo. All received the same as me, a Windows Vista laptop with a Windows 7 sticker. Even the Bios was still set at Windows Vista (SLIC 2.0).

The solution to them was after a couple more weeks, when they finally actually had the stuff to sell Windows 7, you could send your laptop back to have it updated by them, or wait for them to send you re-imaging DVDs about 4 more weeks after this time. They also noted that because these Y550's were old Vista laptops, they wold never be able to release a Bios update to bring the laptop up to Windows 7 SLIC 2.1. What you bought is what you get.

Luckily for me, as a MS tech, I already had several retail versions of Windows 7, and was up and running in a short time.

But now that I have used this laptop for a few weeks with Windows 7, I see that besides all the continued screw-ups by Lenovo, it really is a pile of junk anyways. The screen has to be one of the worst I have seen, with no viewing angle accept dead on. Many reports of these being shipped with bad batteries. This thing is heavy compared to other brands. I bought it for the wife to replace an older laptop, and the poor quality and feel was the first thing she mentioned.

There is much more, but I get angrier every time I think of all that I have had to go through with Lenovo so far, so will stop here. AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!

"I ordered laptop through a deal from lenovo on 14th of November and chose 2 day shipping to get it fast. I made a mistake by not looking at resellerrating before and making the choice now it seems. The shipping date started to get delayed and customer service was looking at the same page which I am also looking so they won't have any clue what's wrong or why it's taking time. My estimated shipping date got delayed again and again so finally I called them up again yesterday and cancelled the order. To my surprise there were no cancellation numbers nor any email was shown to me and the only record is the conversation! I found it very very strange from lenovo, so crappy support system they have. I went to bestbuy and got myself a dell instead, although there are some thinkpads on display I never looked at them. Worst customer experience. I hope now the order gets cancelled properly."

"Oh the multitouch tablet screen saga continues...

Let me provide a bit of background for you, the reader to decide if you wish to purchase from Lenovo. Around September 2009 Lenovo released the multi-touch version of their award winning tablet the x200.

There are still people waiting for orders that were placed on this tablet from October-through the present. Lenovo ran out of the multi-touch screen and is having issues supplying it. Many customers have called only to have their ship date changed 5-6 times. Your ship date will change every week. Mines has personally changed 3 times in the past week. So I decided to call Lenovo and ask for the screens part number.

Lo and behold it will not arrive until January 10, 2010. That means everyone who ordered in October is getting their screen in next year. They will get a computer "new" that's already a few months old.

The customer service is your standard India based department. They must repeat what you've asked to verify they understood your English correctly. Even then they claim their network is down constantly and they give you a ship date based on an automatically generated script. I was only able to get the "true" date by asking for the part number holding up the order directly.

Those that have tried to cancel STILL have not had their order canceled. A friend of mine was one of the lucky ones to actually get his tablet in.

It had windows vista instead of 7.
It also had a smaller HDD than what he paid for and less ram.

He will have to wait 2-3 months to get it in and returned to him.

What this amounts to is a legal scam. I charge you $1900 for something. I take 2 months to deliver it, in that time the prices lower to $1500. You now own a 2-3 month old product and you paid $300 extra.

Lenovo laptops and tablets are pretty solid machines. If you can live without any tech support.
In the meantime I'll be here waiting for my order of my "new" 3 month old tablet PC.

**Here's straight from the lenovo Tablet forums for new customers to decide.

LENOVO: Thank you for choosing Lenovo Chat service, this is LENOVO. How may I be of assistance today?
LENOVO: Hello, How are you doing today?
Customer: Your forums at forums.lenovo.com is showing huge problems with receiving X200 Tablet laptops ontime. What are the issues?
LENOVO: There are no issues as such. Any thinkpad you order 10 - 15 business days is the turn around time for the laptop to be built before it ships out. And the order will only delay if there is a constraint on any of the parts.
Customer: It seems the multi-touch displays are the problem. That is a huge problem with a tablet PC where that is a critical component. Individuals are saying that displays are 30 to 45 days out. Can you confirm this?
LENOVO: There is nothing to confirm as such here. Only after you place the order you can come to know about the estimated ship date, and also if there is any delay on the order an email will be sent to you.
Customer: I'm afraid anyone customers deserve the right to know the ship date before they place the order, and to expect this ship date to be met more times than not. How can Lenovo guarantee they will meet the ship date that given. There are numerous cases where individuals who have ordered at the end of october still have not received their laptops. How can this be prevented?
Customer: Your website specifically says 9 days. Only a few parts say they will delay the order. The touch screen is not an option, so it is not listed.
LENOVO: We cannot give you a ship date before you place the order. Once you place the order only after 2 business days you will come to know about the estimated ship date. And we do not give any guranteed date for any order. Its only estimated ship date.
LENOVO:There is not gurantee on any order. Every thing depends upon the availability and stock.
LENOVO: Some times it will be available, sometimes it will be out of stock.
LENOVO: Is there anything else I can be of assistance with today?
Customer: Is there a way to check before hand?
LENOVO: I do apologize sir there is no way we can give you order status or a ship date before you place the order even for an optical mouse.
Customer: Thank you for your help. Unfortunately the majority of frustrations and delays that are being expressed in the forums are probably true based on what you describe. Please pass the concerns along to whomever may be able to help. Thank you for your time.

********* This contradicts what lenovo states on their website.Check out the bottom of the customize your computer page.*****************
**Ship date: An estimated ship date will be posted on our order status site after your order is placed. The date reflected above does not determine when your order will ship since inventory status may change before your order is final and because items may be held until all products on the order are ready to ship. To obtain the latest information about the availability of a specific part number, please call the phone number listed in the masthead at the top of this page. A flat charge for shipping & handling may apply for certain orders, as indicated on the Checkout page.

"I ordered a laptop and Lenovo sent me out the wrong computer. The computer I ordered had a $30 charge for a "downgrade" to XP. When I received the system it was without XP, so a number of my custom programs will not work. I received the laptop on 11-20-09 and was told by Lenovo that they do not exchange systems they only offer refunds. So let me get this straight, it would be more profitable for Lenovo to refund someone's money rather than simply send them the computer they actually ordered?? When trying to get clarification from this with the Sales department, Robby indicated that policy was true but that I could re order the system. Bearing in mind he could not confirm the system is available and at the financing they offered. Then they can only pay for shipping by scheduling the pick up anytime in three business days. If you are a person who does not care about customer service, Lenovo is for you. If you do rely on customer service I suggest shopping their competition. "

"My son was starting college in September, 2009 and the college recommended that we purchase a ThinkPad T500 from the college purchase program on the Lenovo website. We tried to place the order online on June 17, 2009 but was unable to complete the transaction due to problems on their website. We then contacted Lenovo by telephone to place the order and we received a confirming email with a delivery date of July 2nd.

When the order was not received on July 2nd and we never received an email from Lenovo, we went to our Lenovo online account and found that delivery slipped to July 17th. We did not receive the order on July 17th nor did we receive an email from Lenovo, we again found in our online account that Lenovo slipped the delivery date to July 30th. I was concerned about the delivery possibly slipping again to after the start of the college year, so I contacted the IT Director at the college. After his phone call to Lenovo, we finally received our ThinkPad T500 on July 27th. The T500 arrived in great shape and my son was pleased with this laptop.

Although Lenovo makes a very good product, their online sales and order fulfillment process leaves a lot to be desired.

"awful! awful! I thought I was reaching out directly to the manufacturer. The experience is horrible. If you have to- just have to buy Lenovo - reach out to a reputable reseller who has more leverage than you as an individual. I placed my order for a laptop and they have revised my delivery date 2 times - the call center in India is atrocious..horrible customer service..it blows you away that a co like Lenovo sucks so mcu in customer fulfillment. "Wow! If only I had read these reviews...

I had a very similar experience to the ones that I'm reading about here. My original order was placed on August 18th. They put my order on credit card hold, so I called my bank, cleared the whole mess and called the number back that they asked me to call. I left a message both times that I called. When I didn't hear back after two days, I emailed them. The next email I received was one telling me my order was canceled.

So I ordered a new one, this time making sure that all of my addresses matched. It wasn't scheduled to come in until the end of September. By the second week of September, I canceled that order to purchase a newer laptop-- predicted to ship WITHIN 5 business days.

Well, September 29 came and went and when I checked my status the new shipping date was NOVEMBER 3. I called them, they were very polite, but I still wasn't going to get my laptop before November. On October 7, I received a call saying that the computer I wanted had sold out, but did I want the newer version at no additional cost?

YES! I said, and I even doubled checked with the rep that I was all squared away with my credit card and mailing addresses. This new one would ship by the 14th of October. The day it was supposed to ship, the date was again pushed back. So I called. And they said it was on credit card hold?!! And not only that, but it wouldn't ship until the 28th of October. I was reassured a number of times that when the package did ship, I would receive an email saying as much.

The package actually shipped on the 15th (what an unexpected surprise!) and I received it yesterday. I'm still waiting for the email saying that it was shipped though....

I haven't had much time to fiddle around with it yet, but at least the computer itself seems pretty great.

The people I spoke with were incredibly courteous and attentive. I was never placed on hold for more than 2 minutes and I was able to speak with a real person almost every single time I called. But Lenovo as a business needs to step up its game. I would NOT recommend supporting this business with your patronage--unless extreme frustration and disappointed are states of being you enjoy inhabiting.
