Liberty Healthshare is a scam

"Liberty Healthshare is a scam. They are not faith based. They are money based. They don't behave like Christians' in any sense. From the moment I signed on with them they have been nothing but a problem. Unable to access my online account with no resolution. They, at one point, gave me a second account and expected me to pay double. Of course I argued this and they removed it. Then the following year they raised my rate by 60% with no warning. When asked why, they said that was just the way it was. I put up with this because up until that point my price was great and I couldn't find much cheaper elsewhere. The final complaint, and perhaps worst; I ended up in the hospital in December 2022. I was in the process of switching insurance which would start in mid January 2023. I ended up having to pay for coverage with Liberty through January 2023 before cancelling. They made no mention that my hospital stay WHILE COVERED UNDER THEM would not be paid for because they liked to keep 2 extra months of money when people drop their insurance. This is theft. I now have a $7,400 hospital bill that Liberty refuses to pay even though I paid my dues for years and went through the proper channels to deactivate my coverage. The customer service was next to useless, they never explained that my hospital bill would not be covered, even though I explicitly told them I had this bill from December 2023. All in all, they are a not an honorable company. Taking money for services they do not intend to pay out for is criminal. "

DON’T JOIN! They dont’ always pay what they agree to pay.

"I was a member for about 5 years. I am STILL waiting on some of my bills to be paid (that they DID agree to pay) and it has been 2 1/2 years now. THere are complaints all over the internet about them. Heed the advice - get your health coverage ANYwhere but with them. They are TERRIBLE with payments no matter how many calls you make!"

Worst experience I have ever had with a company by far..

"As a health care provide myself, I can honestly say this is the worst company you could possibly work with. After being a member for years, their customer service and supervisors gave us the wrong advice that is costing us thousands of dollars in medical expenses. They sell themselves as a more affordable alternative to traditional health insurance with Christian values but they are neither. The monthly premiums might be lower but they cover very little if you have a medical emergency. They cut the bills down to a fraction of the cost and will leave you with the rest. This could result in costing you tens of thousands of dollars or more. If you are just using it for routine visits, no big deal. But the MAIN reason to have health insurance is for a big emergency or catastrophe and Liberty is horrible for that. Do not be seduced by the lower monthly fee. It will cost you MUCH more in the end and because they are not regulated like an insurance company, when they refuse to pay you will be left with no recourse and they will lie and blow you off in the end.

Just look at all of the reviews. Most reviews are 1 star on all of the different platforms. The only reason Google has higher stars is because of the inauthentic reviews. None of the good reviews talk about how their costs were covered by liberty. They are all superficial reviews about customer service, etc. I sincere hope if you are reading this, you choose another option to protect yourself and your loved ones because Liberty is not going to do it.

Horrible

"Beware! Hands down the worst company I have ever had to deal with. They are very SLOW paying, well over a year and sometimes close to two years. Things went to the credit bureau so I paid them off now they are refusing to reimburse me for the payment I made. I have submitted a complaint to the Attorney General's Office and they are now getting involved. Liberty Health Share isn't an insurance company so they aren't governed by the government agency that regulates insurance companies. I have spent countless hours trying to get these issues resolved and to no avail. I would NOT use this company for any reason."

Is it Christian to steal from your neighbor?

"We were members for 5+ years and put up with abysmal service because we understood we were a bootstraps Christain organization. We felt like we were doing our part. We often waited 1-2 years for reimbursement and had to call multiple times to advance claims.

The final straw was when they 2x their price, but this is the kicker. 4 months before the giant fee increase they added a new policy that they won't cover expenses incurred in your last 2 months of membership. So huge fee increase where they know people will leave only to find out that your last 2 months' of membership dues cover nothing.

We were huge LHS believers for years and now I'm hoping the class action lawsuits destroy this complany.

Late and Deny is their practice and policy

"We used them for a year or so until it just became such a hassle to deal with their systems. They pay VERY slow, causing me to have multiple collectors calling for their bills to be paid. I spent hours on the phone with them trying to figure out why certain things were not being paid. So much of it was just chaos. Then they changed their structure to an insurance setup, so I feel it is no longer a true health sharing program but an insurance company saying the are a health sharing company. OH, and be away they have a NEW policy that if you submit a bill (no matter the date of service) two month prior to you ending your membership, they will NOT pay it. I had a service in July, the bill sent to me was questioned which caused me to submit it in November. Then Liberty changed their structure, which was WAY more expensive for the same service I had before and became unaffordable for our family; so I had to end my membership at the end of December. No wonder they wait months to pay on bills so they can implement this policy which I was told so they would not have to pay out to people to stop using them. I find this practice concerning and a bit unethical. I was covered in July when I had the procedure done, why is it not being covered?

The only thing this company has going for them it that they hire really nice customer service people. Their practices recently are questionable so I would look VERY carefully at ALL their policies.

8 years and every claim paid

"If you are responsible with watching your health care bills, LHS will always pay you back with the claim . Yes, it does take them 180 days to reimburse- But they have always paid every dollar I have submitted .
People that are complaining, most likely do not understand how the nuances of LHS reimbursement does work.
- 8 + years and I’m still with them and will continue moving forward

"I have been with them 5 years and no claims finally needed cataract surgery...got approved...six months later they told my provider they do not have the money to pay my 2500 dollar claim so I gotta pay or ruin our credit...check BBB awful just awful call Ohio atty Gen they have over 200 complaints...if u are having issues please contact them...what a racket

LHS - poor, poor excuse for a member oriented organization

"At best, LHS is an insurance bureaucracy that has no concept for who their customer is. I've been a paying member for years and finally needed to submit claims and medical bills. Their systems and processes are ignorant of common sense and user experience. Admittedly, when I've spoken with people on the phone, I've been impressed. But when I send a detailed email of my experience and suggestions to improve their statuses in their system so they could be understood by their members, I get the response "statuses are easy to understand and are self explanatory". Basically, the rep called me stupid. There is no real path to escalate and no way to get the attention of upper management. They give you generic emails of "info" or "memberresolutions" but no one one taking ownership of accountability. I fear the day when I have larger expenses that need to be covered. "

Awful

"Liberty is the absolute worst. Sure, you may save money on the monthly premium, but you will more than make up for it with frustration, time and tears when you spent countless hours on the phone with them trying to get them to pay if you do need to see a doctor, or like I did, have an accident. I have talked to so many different reps over the past 3 years and I'm not exaggerating, they all tell you something different. I honestly feel like the whole thing is a scam. These are not godly people, they are liars. If you are looking for health insurance and are considering Liberty, please for your own sake, keep looking."

Health scam

"Was a member for several years. The company was good four years ago but has gone down hill the last couple years. Had a surgery last year. Went through prior authorization and still haven’t been reimbursed. Company is either insolvent or corrupt. Either way stay clear from this sinking ship. "
