"I have had my Lorex system for about 2 years. Very happy over-all with the system. I like having the ability to check my phone anytime to view my home. Gives me a relaxed feeling knowing that if something happens I have it recorded. I have had a few issues with cameras, but each time I have called customer support they have resolved the problem in shipping me a replacement. I would recommend Lorex as your security system. "
"Unfortunately, the PVR and cameras are not very good and not worth spending $1500"
"IT'S NICE. EASY INSTALLATION."
"This is our second Lorex system and we could not be happier. Thanks Lorex"
"Great products! Easy setup & install. Awesome Customer/Technical service representatives - very knowledgeable of products. Would purchase more LOREX products. Would recommend Lorex Technology to family and friends ."
"Great camera at a fair price. It was easy to set up and has a clear picture."
"I have owned 3 different security system cameras. Two of them I could never get to view outside my network, thanks to TWC. I did the DDNS and even port forwarding but could never view my system through the internet. Lorex made is so easy and simple my wife thinks I am pretty good at this sort of thing. I am also proud of myself for reading up on the internet and reading about Lorex and their FLIR cloud! We can view it LIVE and anytime without any lagging or buffering. A great system and met all my expectations."
"So far so good, had a little prob with DVR they had to send me out a new one, took over a week to receive replacement DVR. Also very difficult to understand anyone from the phone conversations I had with them. They REALLY need to hire American speaking citizens!! As far as product goes I'm pleased with overall quality and picture, very clear 1080p system"
"Excellent system. Works great so far. I purchased the LHD88 system after black Friday and "stole it" for $299.00.
Picture is good for 720p. I have 7 of the 8 installed.
I don't have it set up to go over the internet yet.
Not sure if I want/need to at this point.
Playback is a breeze.
When in playback mode, cameras with motion detected are shown in the bottom graph as yellow, so you can pinpoint the time to review instead of going through the whole nights recording. The only downfall is, if they are mounted outside, rain and snow falling show as motion. You can also FF through it. I review the overnight footage in about 10-20 minutes.
Be aware when you mount the cameras, that if they are pointed near a road, passing cars show as motion in playback.
You can only review 1 or 4 cameras at a time.
Cameras are all black (not like the ones pictured).
Cables are black also. My house is white, so the cables do show a bit. The coax is only 60ft long, so I had an issue with 2 being too short. Not a problem, I ordered 2 more 60ft coax and 2 connectors and attached them together and I was in business.
The night vision is good also, but picture is in black and white until its light out enough for the cameras to switch off the night vision and back to color. I haven't tried to get an image from the recorded footage yet, in case I need to send footage to the local authorities for identification.
That's next.
Camera connections are a bit tricky to the DVR, but not impossible because they are close together. Label your camera ends before hook up and you will be good to go.
I installed 7 cameras and ran the coax on the outside of the house in an afternoon. A little longer to run inside house.
Plan your installation. I don't need mine hooked up to the internet, so to review footage requires you to,
1. buy a TV to hook up to the DVR (HDMI cable also)
2. be next to the DVR and use the included mouse
3. don't leave the DVR out in the open. All a thief has to do is take your DVR and the evidence is gone. I mounted mine in the basement.
Great system for the money."
"I've owned several camera systems throughout my life, ranging from very expensive ones ($350+ for just one camera) to very cheap ones. The thing I like best about this camera system (HDIP84W) is that it is literally plug and and play. Wiring it is the easy part, simply run your cat5e or cat6 cable and plug in your camera, then scan the barcode on the NVR wit your phone and you are set up.
Within an hour I was able to install the FLIRCloud apps on two of my desktop computers and my phone and I was live streaming 4 cameras that I had set up at my house.
Here are a couple of awesome features about this system:
1) Plug and play
2) 1080P so the quality of the picture is very good
3) Night vision is very good as well and the picture quality is great
4) If the camera has enough light at night, it turns to color night vision mode which makes things even clearer
5) I have not even configured motion detection settings yet, but the FLIRCloud app already is tracking this for me. I can simply go into playback mode, choose any date range, and it will bring up the recording for that day and it will highlight all the points on a timeline when motion was detected -- this is simply amazing to me.
6) This is not a "wifi" camera, its POE (power over ethernet) so when I load these up no matter where I am I can see the camera almost immediately. I can be 200 miles away from my house and open the app on my phone and immediately see what is going on at my house. With wifi cameras like Nest Cam, the connection ALWAYS drops out, or you can't remotely connect to the camera 100% of the time.
Ok so it can't all be good right? Well it is, I'd give these cameras a 10/10 so far and I've owned them for nearly 4 months and they are all outside in the cold northeast weather and still operating perfectly. The only con I can think of is related to the FLIRCloud software, so this isn't really a ding against the Lorex cams, but rather the app to view the cameras. For some reason, when I load the app on my desktop, 50% of the time the cameras will not load up...I'll need to close the app, re-open it, then they will load. However, on my mobile phone this never happens, they always load within seconds. It might be a setting somewhere to change the stream settings, but I'll have to dig into that.
Lastly, I've had some questions regarding the cams and I'm big on customer service when I buy a product. Each time I've had a question I've been able to just go to the Lorex site and ask my question right on their live chat and I have an answer within seconds. While having a great product is key, having good customer service to go with it is even more important, so I commend Lorex for that. "
"I've purchased two Lorex systems, one standard definition and one high definition and my brother in law has purchased two as well. Both of us have had great success with their systems. They have wonderful reliability and the picture quality is top notch. The software is quite usable but rough around the edges in some areas. I've never regretted purchasing a Lorex system."
"Bought on-line and a great wireless security system delivered to my door. Easy to set up. Lost of features! Best part is I can monitor my cameras over the internet from where ever I am. No ongoing monitoring costs. Night vision is very useful and clear. I got 2 cameras to start but plan to expand to 4 cameras soon!"
"Good product, so far works well. Would not hesitate to purchase Lorex products if needed."
"I bought this Camera System for my wife's business. SO far it has operated beyond my expectations. I had to call Customer Service to correct an issue that I caused. The customer service rep. was great. He helped me solve the issue and the system has been operating flawlessly. I feel that I got a great system for the price and it was easy to install. I will recommend this company and their equipment to anyone that is interested in buying surveillance equipment. I feel that they stand behind what they sell and are genuinely concerned about you as a customer. I will definitely recommend this company to anyone that is looking to by a camera system for their house or business."
"I bought the lorex security system because they have the best cameras that capture all the details of someone entering my property. Excellent cameras with clear pictures and voice also comes in very clear so I can hear what someone is saying. I bought the HD84 system and its my first time buying a home monitoring system and it is wireless with sound and I like it a lot. Excellent night vision with clear voice and detail and day time when the sun is out it gives a excellent picture. I like the wireless system because I don't have to run the other lines."
