"I was referred by an old school master fabricator I trust. MSC did not disappoint. Not only are their products of old school top quality, their customer service was easy to contact, they resolved a shipping issue above and beyond my expectations, and they even followed up to make sure I was 100% taken care of. Companies like this and CS representatives like Alyssa C. are rare these days, I am a customer for life and would give 11 stars if I could.

"I placed an order for Mitutoyo calipers on their web store hoping to get it by Christmas for a present. After 2 weeks, several emails and calls they cancelled the order without explanation and notification. Still have no idea what was the problem, but I didn't get the paid product on time. They just stole my time."
"Their search engine is just so poor you will get so frustrate just to find what you need to order."
"I work for a fairly large business we where under a contract with msc but its up now. i was looking for some allen wrenches and found a insane deal on a proto set i ended up ordering 25 sets. they sent me the packing recept it was right when i got the bill it was marked up over 100% so i called customer service. i was informed it was my fault i told them i wasn't going to pay that price. so we agreed i would ship them back even though it was there fault when i finally got my return slip it said i needed to also pay a restock fee. so i had to contact customer service again and now arguing that it was my fault again . they have really screwed up we spend way to much on msc to deal with this stuff. they will not be getting our business any more."
"I purchased 8 five feet PVC straight pipe 3/4 and 40 T's and 40 90's for a special project that called for exact measurements. The connectors all were perfect but the 3/4 five feet pipe was awful. Not only were all 8 pieces cut to different sizes they were all marked up with marker and just extremely dirty and greasy with scuffs and chips out of all of them. The biggest problem I had with them was not being five feet as I purchased this length specifically for the size so I did not have to cut any of the pipes since the project called for exactly 8 sections of five feet pipe. Well when more than half was under five feet by two or more inches which made the customers project impossible to complete with what was delivered. I called customer service with the expectation of a bit of empathy and a quick resolution but got nothing but attitude and a road block. The first agent made a comment like so your only short a few inches on several pipes and this is a problem for you.... Lol well yes it is when I paid for something I didnt receive and the project I am doing calls for precise 60" sections. To which the rep followed up with how long is 60". Then I was told to take photos that proove the measurements I am reporting. I said no problem thinking that they will see them and just send replacements for the incorrect ones that were sent. During the call the rep tells me well I won't have access to view the photos so there is nothing I can do for you. Ok....so I wait for a email which did come but then they said we can't send replacements. You need to return the order entire order and then they will refund me. And I could purchase from them again. Also they expected me to pay for the return. After calling again I said I am happy to return the pipes that are faulty not to size but they need to send a prepaid label. I also requested that they just ship the quantity of pipes that were not correct and I would return exact count of bad pipe to them. They refused and again said this is going to have to be a full order return...get my refund a few days after return...then repurchase from them again. No way...I just ate the cost of the bad pipes by buying elsewhere to save time and headache. This place is awful do business with them...."
"I decided to give MSC Direct a shot with a small order since they had a good price on what I wanted. Usually I always do a small order with a new company because if a company can't do one small order correctly or accurately I won't trust them with large orders. After placing my order and paying 2 weeks goes by with no shipping notification. I contacted them and found out what I ordered was on backorder, and is estimated to ship out in a little over another 2 weeks. I wait and no notice of shipping. After a few more days I reach out to discover that the new estimate for shipping is another month now. So they had numerous opportunities to let me know anything about how long the wait for this order would be, but didn't. Needless to say I wouldn't trust this company for anything important."
"I ordered a Milwaukee twist lock cord during Covid and had to wait many months before it was delivered, delivered to MSCDirect that is. I never saw it. I received a voice message from them inquiring if I still wanted it, and when I called back several days later they had already cancelled my order! I would have to start the whole process over again since I still wanted a cord. I just bought a completely new Milwaukee took and now have one sitting on the shelf because it still needs a cord. Why didn't they wait a few days before cancelling my order, or even leave a second VM. I'm still looking for a cord, I won't buy from MSCDirect again."
"I was looking to buy a portable wet saw but I was having a hard time finding. I needed information regarding the customs broker fees and tax entering Canada. Both my phone calls were answered and within the minute and the time it would take to get me the information was clearly stated. I received the information that same day just as they said it would be given. I did end up finding the tool locally and was able to save a lot on shipping Brokeridge and the exchange rate on the Canadian dollar, but I was very impressed with correspondence of MSCAnd how easy it was to navigate the website."
"Ordered six small Stanley Proto Made-in-USA J9954-NA toolboxes.
Cost was best I could find at $27.27 per tool box after a MSCDirect promo code, which was prominently advertised on MSCDirect’s web site (so it was obvious for orders > $99, as I recall – I don’t see it on the website as I write this review).
Shipping cost was a very reasonable $20.45; this order was significant weight and bulk. Even with the shipping charge, the total cost per tool box of $30.68 was very competitive.
Also, the web site showed the actual warehouse inventory (I had just wasted time and effort with another reseller whose website lied, vaguely stating that these J9954-NA tool boxes were “In Stock”).
Actual MSCDirect shipping was very prompt, occurring the same day the order was placed – this was actual delivery of the shipment to UPS.
Each toolbox was packed by the manufacturer (Stanley Proto) in its own box. MSCDirect split the order into two larger boxes, each containing three (obviously) of the Stanley Proto boxes along with some high-quality brown filler paper (not those air pouches which frequently do nothing). Those larger boxes were high quality, double layer boxes – so good that I could not bring myself to recycle them and instead added them to my spare box collection. A lesser reseller might have tried, unwisely, to economize with single layer boxes.
This was my first order with MSCDirect. I will definitely use them again.
I have no relationship with MSCDirect other than as a customer.

"I needed a specific hose for an application they carried supposedly "in stock." Their idea of in stock ios a drop shipment that is sent by UPS ground from Indiana to California. While not normally a problem it was claimed by MSC it would arrive on a Friday. I finally get a shipment notification that it would not be sent until FRIDAY. Now my project is delayed. Thanks MSC. Thank you very much. I'll go use somebody else. McMaster-Carr comes to mind."
"Charged me over $16 to ship a $3 product. Product arrived in poor condition. Ignored many requests to cancel my order. Complete ripoff."
"Hi,
I have placed an order by MSC i have never experienced such a customer service not reliable web site there pictures doesn't match there descriptions and when calling them they didn't budge to help!
"
"received email for free shipping, then asked customer rep if I could r3ceive and told to place order.free shipping never happened. The worst company I have dealt with. They never try to resolve an issue as if it was your fault!!"
"I run a small shop and when ENCO was around, got a decent price. Now that MSC absorbed them, our costs have jumped by as much as 50% and they only offer to reduce them if we increase our purchasing. They occassionally offer 'discounts' but even those reduced prices are higher than their competitors regular prices.
Not a supplier for small-mid size shops...look elsewhere."
"My experience with MSC, where to start.... I work in the M.R.O. for our company. I purchase spare parts. We keep these spare parts on the shelf till they're signed out to a job. This job could be a repair, or a break down. A sells rep came in one day, making a lot of promises. He wanted to manage our pipe fittings. This is how he got his foot in the door. At first he was great, he would get us anything. We spent a lot of money with him our first year. He went out of his way to get us hard to find parts. The second year he was not helpful at all. He told us his job is based off of commission. The way his commission works is, he needs to sell you more things this January, then he did January the previous year. The previous year we were ordering for our sister company as well. Since we had spent so much money, there was no way we would meet this quota, and he knew that. He even raised the prices to try and help him reach his sales goal. MSC will always raise the prices. They real you in with low prices, and slowly raise them. There is a cheaper company out there. Use Zoro. Zoro's products are half the price of MSC's. DO NOT USE MSC!"
