Never again customer

"September 16, 2020 my son and I both wear a mask into Menards in Fridley Minnesota. I was way in the back to the store in an aisle that had no one in it and decided to take my mask down to catch my breath because I cannot breathe in these masks. female employee walked by demanding me to put my mascon and I told her I would. She took two steps and didn't like the fact that I didn't jump right away on her command. I asked her what she was going to do about it because at that point I got angry because she was extremely demanding and rude like she had a personal issue with me. Shannon I'm calling the manager but by then I had already abandon my cart and started heading for the front door. when the manager got to me with his attitude explained I couldn't breathe and decided to take the mask down a second and had intended on putting it back up. told him I couldn't breathe and he did not care .I asked him what law said I have to wear a mask but he told me they get to make their own rules. I explain to him that I spend a lot of money in that store and he didn't care.
I had a total of five employees coming from different angles while I headed towards the front door and there was a huge scene in front of all the other customers over it.
I am in the HVAC trades in the company I work for spends a lot of money in there. I live right down the road and have for 10 years. do my own home repairs and always spent tons of money at Menards for all my gardening all my repairs. menards I will never ever step 1 foot in your door and I will let everyone I know when the trades how you treat your customers.
apparently you guys never heard that customers are the best advertisement.

Customer service and returns

"I went to return some items that I purchased online. The online order receipt is awful and a 25 percent restocking fee is ridiculous, especially since they sell the parts I was returning inside the store. Customer service also was awful. The **** the customer service area apparently doesn’t know that with a mask, a customer hard of hearing and a plexiglass divide might make it difficult to hear what she was saying.

At first we had a nice conversation outside of the divide but she called a manager to help and it turned ugly. She said it would have to be returned to the card i used and I asked as long as I get a receipt. She said she didn’t know when I will get one. I said I don’t know you people and wanted a receipt for the return. She repeated what she said previously. She then belted out loudly that she told me 3 times now. No respect for customers at menards.

I mean what happened? She said the 26th was her birthday, the day I ordered, and the 27 was her anniversary. Her parents had a cottage in the city I live in and then she turned foul and cruel. Thank you for the awful experience Theresa and unknown manager.

AVOID these guys!

"I placed an order and ELEVEN days later received an email saying "there was an error and your order was cancelled." No aplogy, no alternatives, no explanation, nothing. Completely unacceptable in a time when online behavior can make or break your business. These people just don't care about you."

Not Perfect, but Menards is a darned good store

"Plumbing dept. inventory is double that of other big box stores, and some dedicated plumbing supply wholesalers. Lumber and hardware too-walk in and buy it, don't order and wait for days or weeks... I hear tales of bad customer service on custom orders, but mine have always gone smoothly. During the Covid-19 shutdown, Menards treated their customers like they and the work they were performing was essential. Today I bought a shephards hook for my wife. Menards was open at 7AM, while the Lowe's on the way was still unlit (they open at 8). Found a heavy duty double hook made of square stock, and get this: Made in USA!"

Incompetence...why bother!

"Waste of space of store and people in this location, which is new by the way. Zero skills, competencies and customer service. On Thursday, March 16, 2020 I bought the Delta shower and tub combo. I prepaid and reserved it for pickup the following Tuesday, March 21, 2020. After spending almost an hour waiting for the employee to enter my information, find the product and reserve the product; I went to pay. On Tuesday (today), I go to pick up my order. I wondered why it was taking some time for the order to be fulfilled. I find out half of my order is available (my tub). They decided to sell my shower wall to someone else. Basically, the store sold the same item twice. That customer who bought it last was able to take it.

The employee and assistant general manager, Jason Burkett, were not apologetic nor empathetic. They stated the shower wall would be available on May 6th (3 weeks later). Another option was to go drive over 40 minutes to another store. So, I have to either to wait three weeks or take about an additional hour of driving and time to pick it up in another store. They did not even offer to deliver to my house the next day the shower wall that is currently available in the Menards in Liberty, MO. I did not receive an apology or a discount for the mistake Menards employees made nor for my inconvenience. I feel like Menards stole my money and now I need to pay more in gas and time to correct their mistake. They made ZERO ATTEMPTS to make amends. I give the entire experience an F. Headquarters failed to train their store management and staff properly.

You just lost a customer. I will go to Home Depot.

Terrible return policy, and consistently inferior products, the last resort of home improvement.

"If you end up getting store credit, good luck getting rid of it. You cant use it to buy gift cards to give away, you can't use it to purchase online, and 9 out of ten times when you buy something you get a rebate for more store credit. If you do find something to buy, chances are good its of lesser quality than something you can find else where. At least the bathrooms are dirty."

-100 Stars Menards lies about having REAL customer service

"Had to give one star to leave this review I give -100 stars. I was in the store Saturday and saw sign that as of today Monday no returns. I said to the service desk person....”I have returns I will be sure to get them here tomorrow.” I showed up 5 minutes before opening Sunday and found they were closed for Easter. Service desk could have told me this. Went in today and manager Derek; Batavia IL said no He would not take return...as if an hour made a difference. I asked for a number to speak to someone in corporate...he gave me an automated contact. I insisted he give me a number to a person...he refused. I cussed out of frustration at this lack of service ...”there has to be a @&$)&@$ person I can speak to about this.” He said I should leave and I did. Looked up corporate...got a person...who after I asked to speak to a person connected me to the same automated line. Menards has NO service to give you immediate attention when it is needed. This is complete and unacceptable disregard to customers. They lie about having REAL customer service."

Menards in Olathe, KS

"on 3/28/20 My wife and I went to purchase a 54 inch wide laundry room cabinet, window film and a lighting fixture totaling over $220.00, for the most part everyone was friendly and professional up to the point after checkout when the courtesy attendant Noah wheeled the pre-assembled cabinet out to my truck to help load, once loaded he then preceded to tell me that i could not park in the back of the parking lot and berated for 15 minutes. I called and spoke with MOD Lisa who informed me that she would take care of it.

The next day i ran out of window film and menards was the only store in town that carried it, i reluctantly went back to the store and soon after i walked into the store Noah saw me and started to follow me around at a distance giving me dirty looks which i ignored. I got home and opened the packaging to find out it was pacakaged wrong at the factory with a different type of film. Again i went back to Menards quickly walking thru the store hoping to avoid Noah which i was almost successful until check out, there was Noah waiting to confront me again about the other day. At this point I sternly asked to see the MOD immediately, This time i spoke with a Manager named Jenny she again assured me that it would be taken care of, not one of them apologized for there employees UN-professionalism and to make things worse the customer service hotline is a number to tell you to mail or fax your concern or complaints in. Its clear these employees are allowed to harass customers and there is no accountability. I will more than likely not be back to menards again in fear of what Noah will escalate things to next.

Menards, I'm so disappointed I really used to enjoy shopping at your store, but i can not support a company that allows there employees to treat their customers in this manner.

Worst Service EVER or should I say Lack there of!!!

"We went to purchase privacy fencing and they were quick to take our money at the register, but when it came to picking it up and loading it, no one could be found. After 3 separate attempts to locate a worker myself and my husband ended up loading everything up ourselves."

False advertising, knock-off products, misleading return policies, and very poor customer service

"I used to live near a Menards store and had purchased their Old Mill brand lined jeans and was very satisfied with them. I now live far from a store location but wanted additional pairs. So I looked online and found the same manufacturer and style number product advertised on Menards website. So I ordered 2 pair of the same style number and size. Upon receipt, there was no manufacturer name or product tag anywhwere on the jeans, also the signature "M" stitching on the back pockets was missing. Additionally, they were not even made from the same materials and did not fit the same either. One pair was over 3" to big while the other pair was about 2" too big. Upon reaching ut to the customer service department to arrange a return I was met with rude email responses and told that contrary to their posted returns policy I would be charged return/restocking fees. After going back and forth countless times with the customer service rep, and explaining how the product received was not as advertised, not made by the same mfg, not made from the same materials, and not the same fit or quality as those previously purchased from their store, or as advertised on their website...I was told that I recieved what I ordered, that it was a difference in manufacturing, and was no fault of theirs and I could either return them for a partial refund, or keep them.
This was like being told that the Pair of Nike shoes I ordered and received without the Nike name or Branded "Swoosh" on the product anywhwere was still a Nike product and was just a difference in mfg!!! Like receiving a pair of Levis or Wrangler jeans without the Levis/Wrangler tag or signature pocket stitching on them anywhere was still the same product...BOLOGNA!!!!
They are selling cheap knock-offs advertised as name brand products at name brand prices!!!
When asked to be passed up to a member of management, the CS reps' email tone changed and was then appeared as helpful...WRONG!!!! I was misleadingly being appeased until I shipped the return back...then was basically told "Too Bad"!!!
I was charged over $24 to receive a falsely advertised product and to return it because I couldn't even wear them, and they were not what I had satisfactorily purchased previously!! Menards engages in unethical business practices and should be boycotted by all consumers so they receive their just deserves and go out of business!!!

Poor customer service!

"I've had several rather negative experiences with this store. I wonder why they don't train their employees better? This most recent time I ordered online to pick up at store. 2 items came in but the 3rd never did, so I finally cancelled it 6 wks later. I reordered elsewhere and received the item within a few days. When I picked up the 2 items that did arrive in the store the old man back in pick up grumbled about it the whole time and didn't seem to know what he was doing. Apparently he was the delivery guy, and hadn't been trained for pick-up orders. If he's working back there, I think he should be trained to fill in behind the pick up counter, and should always treat customers with polite respect regardless.
A few yrs ago I was having trouble reaching something on a high shelf, and it took me 3 trys to get the attention of the young man who was standing not too far away. I practically had to tap him to get his attention!
Another time the guy working out in the garden section didn't even understand what I was asking about.
THey have ok prices sometimes, but consider it a help yourself store. Don't expect any help from their employees.
We also really dislike the rebate system which is difficult and inconvenient to use. We feel it's a sales gimmick. I doubt that many people actually get the rebates which are always in the form of store credit, so you can't take the $ and spend at a store that actually has helpful service.

Poor stocking and inventory experience

"Every time we come to Menards it takes well over 45 minutes to find anything we special order, at least 10 items in the past 6 months. Usually we get the call that it is here, we go to the store and for some reason no one can find it. Then they usually claim it probably isn’t here, BECAUSE THEY CANT FIND IT!!"
