"Rip off store. Unsafe aisles, rarely sales help available, junk quality items, inane jingle music blasting constantly, rude management, refunds nearly impossible to get, misleading sale posters. You name it, if it’s unethical, rude, or your basic rip off scheme, they engage in it. I’ve lived here since before this store was built and had more bad experiences than good ones. Their plants are always half dead during the growing season, their tools are over priced and poor quality, and their food items are often outdated and just gross. They sell milk and dairy but do not keep their coolers at the correct temperature. So following safety guidelines is obviously not a priority for them. If you choose to shop there, be careful about EVERYTHING you pick up. You DO NOT want to go through their exchange/refund hassle. "
"I ordered a rigid vinyl stair nosing, and some idiot folded it up multiple times and jammed it into a tiny box! Now it is permanently bent and creased and is NOT usable! This has to be glued and you can't even get it back into shape to where you could even glue it!
To make matters worse, you cannot call them. You have to email them with any issue.
I am a contractor doing a job and now I can't use this item. UNBELIEVABLE!

"This is the third time I have shopped at Menards. The first time I swore I would not return. I wanted to buy a small out building and never did get help. The second time took just as long as the first but I finally was offered help and then waited longer than the first for stock to be pulled because what I was looking for was empty. Today was the icing in the cake. Wanted to buy a chair my husband saw in our second visit. Finally got help and was told one was in stock. I gave the man my phone number and knew this wasn’t going to be a fast experience due to the first two. We shopped and then waited and waited. No phone call. Finally found two workers and asked them to check and see what was the holdup. Another 20 minutes or so stabbing around waiting the man came with an assistant manager to let me know there wasn’t a new chair in stock. Mind you it has been over an hour by now. I was told I could buy the floor model and zero would be taken off. ZERO!!!!!!!!!!! This is the last time for me and because of the attitude I received I am going to let everyone know how these people are. Lowe’s and Value City were wonderful. Shop there and not Menards!!!"
"So I had my eye on a storm door at Menards. I was waiting for the 11% off sale they have. It came and when I went to buy that same storm door they had jacked the price up on it. I am sure it was the same door. I immediately went online to Home Depot and bought a storm door there instead. "

Very Rude, unfriendly, Inconsiderate department manager from cabinets and appliances Kevin Welch at Mt. prospect branch, who do not have any sense of customer service !! We bought cabinets from Menards a month or 3 ago and it has been nothing but a complete disaster from the start for giving me a total wrong computations and designs and we end up paying more and returning extra cabinets, sooooo terribly heavy wasting my time and effort because of their incompetence !! He don’t have a decency to resolve the problem !!
I will NEVER purchase a single thing from their stores again!!!! Beware and NEVER buy cabinets from them !! So, i would suggest,
TAKE YOUR BUSINESS TO LOWES OR HOME DEPOT AND SAVE YOURSELF THE HASSLE !!"

Lazy store and corporate management, poorly organized and do not care about their customers, only their money. Didn't think I would every write a review like this, but when this company failed me, they failed immensely and did nothing to rectify. "Menards customer service isn't...it is indifferent\unresponsive, inept, unskilled or untrained, innocently or intentionally. I've searched the web and read other reviews of Menards which are unfavorable and now I can support and add my views & experience. Frankly, my voice will be merely one from the chorus – BBB reviewed Menards and Menards earned and ‘F’ from BBB with this prevalent comment: The business responded to the dispute but failed to make a good faith effort to resolve it.
I'd summarize their service or lack thereof as "institutional indifference" combined with a lack of familiarity with products and service. Staff of Menards hardware, Hardware Associate Buyer, Menard, Inc. as well as Menards “guest services” is unwilling or unable to write a reply to written requests, form a response or simply acknowledge a written contact in a business-like fashion; i.e., indifference and simply unresponsiveness, either intentionally or innocently.
My dispute? Trying to get what I paid for, the product was shorted on contents, not all parts and pieces were included in my shelving unit. I started trying to get replacements 10 days ago but the supplier was and is the wrong supplier Menards referred me to and Menards has not answered me at all despite cc of 14 email exchanges with the supplier – the wrong supplier and two hard copy letters to Eau Claire corporate offices.
“Save Big Money at Menards” is because they don’t spend it on service representatives or customer service.
I'm a simple customer with a simple problem that Menards has botched so badly Menards picture should be next to the Urban Dictionary definition of FUBAR.

"This has been worst online purchase ever. I ordered moulding on May 28th. 48" long. I paid more in shipping than item which is fine. A few hours after ordering I get email that says item shipped and a tracking #. Great. After a week no item. FedEx website show a shipping label had been created but no item received by them to ship. I contact Menards to see if someone can help me located my item. Dan K responds after second email from me. Gives me a new tracking # and tells me item is shipped. I check it the next day it says same as before, label created but no travel. I check again 4 days later still same thing. I order item from another Vendor which arrives in 3 days. I finish my project. Its now June 13. I check FedEx website it STILL says label created will update when we receive item. I contact Dan K and fill out the online form to cancel my order. Dan K notifies me I can get a refund less shipping cost ....for an item that never shipped! I believe that is fraud. Don't buy from them online. They are the worst in my experience. "

"I had a couple very negative experiences a couple months ago at Menards, but it was a party compared to 2 days ago. I bought a log-splitter and needed to pick it up at the back of the store. So, I thought I'd buy a couple small items and drive back and get it. Just like before, the line was deep, one register open in the middle of the morning. So I put the items back, it wasn't worth the wait. Sadly, the item had a rebate, so I went to the "rebate center" to get the form. There was a lady in front of me who also had a negative experience, three people at the counter, one person working. The other two were literally shooting the breeze. When I asked the one working guy, he told me it was in the original e-mail since I ordered it on-line to pick up at the store. No wonder the lady was mad, now I was mad, too. Three ignorant people at the customer service counter, not one who had the motivation to help anyone. Drove to the back to get the log splitter, and of course, it had to be forklifted. The forklift driver had little clue how his lift worked and managed to mess up the box it came in as well as scare me, I thought he was going to hurt the trailer I brought. Once I got it loaded, I was out of there like a shot. Bad people work at that store, too many instances of people who don't care and hate their customers."
"Brought some of our flooring at Sedalia Mo store they didn't have enough but associates found us the rest at nearby osage beach store and handled all the online entries and also called them so they would have it ready for us to pick up. The flooring department was excellent in selection questions and anything we needed thank you "
"Do NOT order anything on Menards.com. I ordered defective landscape lights. Menards Cust Serv told me to return lights for full refund. Menards sent refund in form of IN STORE credit that can ONLY be redeemed in the store. I live in Florida. The closest store is KY! Menards refused to refund the $130 to my credit card nor issue store gift card. Now I have no lights and no $130. MENARDS HAS A LICENSE TO STEAL FROM CONSUMERS! Wish I knew somebody in KY I can give this check to. It's worthless to me."
"I purchased $4100 of flooring. The whole process was not had issues. Something that should have taken 2 trips turned into 4 trips. The Assistant Manager offered me a $120 refund to compensate me for damaged materials. Then he took it back and said he wasn't going to take a loss on those 7 boxes even though they damaged them. Instead, he said he would return them to the manufacturer as defective. I thought that was dishonest. Please keep in mind this discount totaled 0.3% of the entire order. I decided to return the whole thing for a full refund. I was told returning would cancel out their rebate. Well They never sent me the rebate and they kept the total of the rebate out from the total refund. So they gate 100% of their product back after 5 trips of bad customer service and they kept $750.00 of my money stating they cant cancel the rebate, the rebate I still have not received. Very bad business and very dishonest of them. Don't shop there. PS this wasn't special order so according to their policy, I should have gotten a full refund especially since I never receive their rebate that they can cancel on the spot just like Kohl's does using. And Kohl's also uses a third party for their rebates."
