"If I could rate this store a zero I would. The customer service is horrible. In dealing with Jana she was the most in professional person I’ve had to deal with in a long time. When I ask to speak with her manager he allowed her to continue with her attitude until I had to keep repeating “this is what I’m talking about” several times. Never shopping a Manatds store again!"
"It isn't just AN experience -- it's ALL experiences. The place ****! There is a mumbo-jumble of mixed goods -- mostly junk that creates a maze of short shelved areas which means having to HUNT for most any item -- and WALKING! Many items are left without pricing. I just keep walking! There hiring practice means having people around at the lowest end of the hiring scale. Old people who belong in retirement homes -- not working a poverty wage at this DUMPY store. We NOW refuse to enter this lousy store!"
"I am 65 years old, a US Navy Veteran, I started purchasing from Menards when they open a new store close to my home, purchase thousands on dollar. Nothing special about this company, but getting help if you need it forget it. So I started ordering on line and pick up at the store, so far so good. Now 2 weeks ago I order a Lawn Mower on line, went to pick up the following days. The Lawn Mower was out assemble .
Good for me, but when the associated help me loaded on the truck I notice smell of gas. so I checked out, the lawn mower had also oil it and look like is has been used, I requested a new one, they told me none available the last one, but I was assure if there any problem I can return it. Ok so far so good.
I still had my old lawn mower none propel that is working fine, but getting to old to push. So when decided to used the $399,00 one I purchase from Menard's thats when I run into problems, I put gas start after the 3rd try, so I try using in to cut grass that was cut 6 days ago with my push mower , kept cutting off again and again.
Look on line if I missed something, then I realized that is came with a grass side deflector, none was provided. I call the store spoke to lady, she advice me to take the gas out and return, I ask if the have another one NEW IN THE BOX, I gave her the model number NONE IN STOCK. I ask when they be in call back in a few days. OK
1 week latter took it back to the store, the service rep told me I need to call someone from lawn and garden, we waited 20 minutes before he came, a young man about 24's years old. He look at the lawn mower and ask me what the problem DUDE, I reply I am not a DUDE. He dint like my answer and ask me I put gas in the lawn mower, I reply thats the only way to operated is not electric is gas.
He got nasty telling me I knew is gas, but there is nothing I can do once you put gas in it, is yours. I reply that it was use, someone used before and smell gas and the put oil in it. Can I speak with a manager PLEASE, he is going to tell you the same wast of time., and just walk away, just like that.
At the point we where very upset, and ask another associate to call a manager, after waiting for another 15-20 minutes he came.
I just say talk alot better than to lean and garden manager, we explain the situation again, he first response was we do not back gas operated equipment once you put gas in it. I told him how we going to run and in this was NOT NEW is been used before, you can view the surveillance you have cameras all over your store, take a look what you gave us.
He told us to wait and he want in the office, half hour later he returns and told me the only option I have is to give a new lawn mower, I decline after the way I was treated, and we never purchase another thing again from menards, I ask for a receipt that we leaving the lawn mower there, he only try to give us the purchase receipt , I told him I do not need that I can print another on line.
Bottom line this is the Worst business I came across in my 65 years, rude and unprofessional not respect for older people, addressing them as DUDE. But looks like I am not alone , they are dozens and dozens of similar complains on like. Furthermore I email them and never got anywhere with them, I got one response and never reply to my other emails, neither you can talk to anyone at the headquarters . PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY , ESPECIALLY IF ARE ELDER PERSONAL LIKE US, NO RESPECT AND ONCE YOU HAVE AN ISSUE WITH THEM JUST FORGET ABOUT. LOOK AT ALL THE COMPLAINTS. BTW WHILE WE WHERE THERE ANOTHER CUSTOMER RETURNS A LAW-MOWER WITH SIMILAR ISSUES, WE HAVE PHOTOS AVAILABLE"
"Have to enter one end for cart, exit other to pay. While bagging do not forget receipt while conveyor is sending next customers junk at you.. You'll get stiffed if you do. Don't forget rebate slip or you get stiffed. Walk back across parking lot in bad weather. Park on exit side no carts when you enter. Return with no receipt because of stupid setup they said I get 1 cent back. This store is designed to rip the consumer. Sales equal pennies or a dollar if lucky. Items you're looking for the staff tells and points you to main walkway. Not there. "
"HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE - ONLINE BUYERS - DONT TRUST THE WEBSITE! I ordered a garage door in a 16 x 7. The description and selection were correct, but the detailed description below said a different size. I tried several times to refresh to see if it would change and match up, but it did not. I proceeded to checkout and ordered the 16 x 7. My confirmation email came shortly after placing the $1000 order. I noticed the receipt also said a different size. There was no contact information for Menards, but contact info for the Vendor. I emailed the Vendor. The Vendor said the door was indeed the WRONG size, and alerted me to contact Menards. I contacted Menards and they put me to Building Materials. The female associate took my order number and searched the SKU. The SKU came back to the 16 x 7 door. She said to wait until it comes it because she sees 16 x 7. I put a $100 deposit down for install on the door the day the door said it was being shipped to the store. I go to the store, the garage door is the wrong size. The manager starts to investigate the online issue. Turns out, all variations of the door were incorrect. He tells me he is going to call corporate and the vendor and get back with me the following day. The next day, the SKU is reading for the other size door and they are telling me this is my fault. ARE YOU KIDDING ME? Like i'd spend $1000 on the wrong size door. They said there's a $250 restocking fee. HA! He oh, so generously, A MONTH LATER, said he will wave the fee and refund my money but cannot honor the door because its my mistake and i knew it was the wrong size when i contacted the Vendor. HELLO! The VENDOR TOLD ME TO CONTACT YOU. I DID! YOU SAID WAIT FOR IT TO ARRIVE! Now, i am to blame? "Menards -SATISFACTION and QUALITY" : Take this down. This is false advertisement. Menards corporate doesn't accept phone calls. They had me overnight a form and supporting documents, an additional expense, because they don't take phone calls (most likely to up their Gross Margin, because heaven forbid they add a call center and those salaries to their income statement to up customer satisfaction- GREEDY!) Menards corporate gets back with me 2 weeks after I sent the form overnight and tell me the SKU I purchased is for the wrong size. IT WASNT AT THE TIME OF PURCHASE! This makes no sense to me, other than that Menards is afraid to satisfy a customer at the expense of a few hundred dollars. My advise to anyone who spends a great deal of money at DIY stores like Menards and Home Depot- AVOID MENARDS AT ALL COSTS! Take your business to Lowes or Home Depot, where you can at least sort out your problems with live customer service and friendly management! "
"UPDATE: After many calls, and reviews, the Store Manager called me, and made this 100% right. This IS, and WAS not a store issue, but a Menards ONLINE policy and customer service issue.
Go to the STORE GOOD PEOPLE !!!
Online Ordering.. BEWARE
I am a longstanding Menards customer. I have ordered online and picked up in store 10's of thousands of dollars over the last year.
When I am setting up to do a job, I go online, select whats available at my store, pay the fee, and set it up for pickup or delivery, based on size of order. Sounds normal, right. I agree, paying for them to pick it is a stretch, but I do.
Well, I placed an order like I have done many times in the past. After I pay, I get a notice that one of my items (Fire Door) came out special order even after I selected in-stock items. I quickly looked for the number to call. There is now, no number. I sent in the contact info stating. I need the door sooner than you can get it, please send me a comparable in stock item, and I will go with that instead. I wait 2 days no response. Door is stil in process at the MFG, not to ship for 8 more days.. Still no number to call. So, I call the store. They can not, or will not help me. They transfer me to the front desk, the front desk says the department has to help me. I look online for the corp number. They transfer me to a phone that is NOT answered and only takes Voicemails.
Customer service finally responds online. Says, I have to wait for the door to come in, and then they will return it. At a cost of 25% to me for restocking fees. The DOOR HAS NOT LEFT THE FACTORY, remember. This is crazy. I dont know what to do.. This will cost me $50 for a mistake they made.
Wanted all to know... Dont do it. Dont shop there. "
"Menards is one of the rare examples of a large retail company with horrible online shipping / customer service. I should have known from the start because there is NO phone number if you have a problem with an order. You have to use email to correspond about a problem with an order. Even after reaching someone in customer service, they apologize and say they will look at things and get back to you but they never do. 3 separate emails and I am no closer to receiving my item nor getting a refund. It's now 9 days past the date they "shipped" my package yet UPS still says only a shipping label has been created.
Thank goodness for charge backs on credit cards. This will be the only thing saving my **** from Menards total incompetence.
"
"Several times I've been charged for 2 of an item when I only had 1 in the cart."
"Promised delivery in 5 days. Then took 5 days to ship it! "
"After 4-5 days of seeing my order tracker say "in process," I gave up & asked for my money back. They sat on my order for almost a week before shipping it! It took me asking for my money back to get them off their **** & to go fill a simple, one-item order. A full week after ordering, they shipped it & said they can't honor my refund request. Wow.
If you're going to have an online store, do it right & commit to it. Poor online store service is intolerable. I do not recommend Menards for online shopping. "
"One of the WORST customer experiences today!!!! This week I made a purchase of over $200 at the Mount Prospect, IL location, paid $120 with my debit card and $80 in rebate funds. Today I returned $30 of merchandise and THEIR POLICY won't allow a credit to my debit card? I got a store credit instead. There was $120 in cash paid without the rebates and the credit should have gone on my debit card. They have no concern for the customer and FAIL big time! They think it's still 1960. BTW, the store manager was helpless and only referred me to your recorded phone number in the Eau Claire, WI Corporate office. AGAIN, A TERRIBLE CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE! I continued with an online complaint and got the same tone. There is no disclosure on the rebate certificate or receipts that regardless how much you pay in cash, you get a store credit first...very deceptive. They've now lost a customer for life instead of gaining one. I'd rather pay more at Home Depot or Lowe's and be satisfied. Their business model and customer service must change if they want to succeed in retail. I think they just don't care. I filed a complaint with the Illinois Attorney General's Office so we'll see where this goes. Consumers need to unite!!!

"On 12-07-2017, I went to the Port Huron Menards store to pick up a display model patio door which was supposed to be ready as of 12-04-2017. It was not and I was told to come back on 12-09-2017, around 1:00PM and it would be shrink wrapped and ready. So I returned on 12-09-2017, with a trailer to find out that again, it was still not ready. While I was waiting for store staff to take the door out of the display casement and prepare it delivery, I went back out to my truck & trailer to get the straps ready for the door, only to discover a 16 inch long, deep gouge with white paint markings in the right rear of the truck. While I was waiting for a store manager, a gentlemen who was also waiting for items to be brought out walked over and told me that his wife saw two Menards employees with a lift truck and a long white box (with windows or a door) go by my truck and then they stopped, backed up, argued between themselves and took off without reporting it. As she was sitting on the other side of my truck where the damage occurred she could not see or be sure what happened. The Asst. Store Manager then decides to inform me that I was not even supposed to even be picking the display model up until Jan 09, 2018, but as a favor since someone forgot to call me that were going to get it ready anyway since I was there. He said not to worry about the damage they would get it figured out and I just needed to put in a claim with Menards. Which I did, however, since their employees won't admit to the damage, their surveillance cameras don't cover customer pickup in the secured back area of the stores and the woman does not want to be further involved, the claim was denied and now I am stuck with a $1,000 in vehicle damage due to the negligence and lack of responsibility by Menards management and their employees. Merry Christmas from Menards."
"Menards slogan is pumped-up with absurdly, empty words, namely, "quality and service." Guess they're too afraid to admit that Menards is replete with the lowest quality materials and the poorest customer service. Due to the above, it is recommended you seek another source for your projects, otherwise you're gonna be very dissatisfied and disappointed. (You will note though, that Menards has an army of trolls surfing the net for negative comments. Menards will pay to rebut bad comments, but never to upgrade the quality or service?)"
"The prices are good, the selection is great. I always find unique things there, such as snacks and toys. I don't mind filling out the rebate form, but I do have to remember to take it to the store next time I shop. Instead of the rebates, just offer an up-front discount. It will make your unhappy customers feel a little better about shopping there. "
"Twice I have fallen for their rebate scam - Never again.
First they seem to make applying for whatever rebate as difficult as possible and then if you manage to figure out how to do it the rebate is in the form of a store credit which leaves you hooked to them for another purchase. Nice people in the store but Menard's business model will keep me from ever making another purchase from them."
