"I've had nothing but problems with AccessMirco, aka Northgate Innovations. I ordered a BTO system back in December of last year (2002) and when I received it the system appeared to run fine. I then started fine tuning it to my specs, and while looking through the System Log in Event Viewer I found that there was more red then white or yellow. ( red = serious errors ) I was shocked. The error was saying that my cd-rom was not ready for access. After troubleshooting everything, I reinstalled Windows XP Pro. I get all the drivers and updates installed only to find the same error in the System Log, again. I RMA the machine, I had to pay shipping, which was $100. (which, in my opinion, is completly absurd; why should I have to pay more money to send back a PC that came to me less than perfect, when I already paid extra for them to test it before they sent it to me )
Anyway, I got the machine back again, after about a month and a half. Only to find that the exact same error is still all over the system log. I call Customer Service, and they tell me that the techs replaced the video card and the memory. So the cd-rom is giving errors, and they replace the video card and RAM? I became very irate at this and demanded that they RMA it again only this time they have to pay shipping, they agreed to that which was nice.
So I send the machine back, this is around March 2003, and after only five days I get the machine back. Well, the exact same error message was still all over the system log. They didn't even reinstall the OS to test it, they just put their factory testing software on it and, get this, replaced the RAM again and the CPU. So replacing the video card and RAM once didn't fix the problem, they replaced the RAM again and then thought they'd try the CPU too. This was after I was told that the motherboard was going to be replaced, which sounded like a good idea to me.
So, I called Customer Service again, very upset and I spoke to a woman at first. I polietly asked to speak to her supervisor. She asked me why, and I said I've been having lots of problem with my order and that I felt it was time to speak to a supervisor. She puts me on hold for a second or two and then comes back saying that there are no supervisors there. This is at 3:30pm California time on a Thrusday. So I'm supposed to believe that at 3pm on Thursdays all supervisors and managers leave and let the peons run the show, yeah right. I hang up and call right back, this time I get a different person on the phone, I again ask to speak to a supervisor and he tells me to hold for a minute while he goes and gets one. Now that's what I call BS Customer service. I was lied too, plain and simple, and I told this to the supervisor when I finally spoke to one.
I told the supervisor my story, and he/she agreed to pay for me to ship my PC back to them only this time they would replace all internal parts. That was exactly what I wanted to hear at that point, so I was satisfied. ( for the moment)
I get my PC back, for the fourth time, only to find out that they downgraded my videocard from a GeForce4 Ti4200 w/ AGP 8x to a standard Ti4200 w/ AGP 4x. That made me angry once more. I call Customer Service and speak to another supervisor who agrees to upgrade my video card, at no cost, to a GeForce FX 5200. I though he was joking, every benchmark test ever performed on that card has yeilded pathetic results and I told him that the FX 5200 was an unacceptable exchange. But, that's all they had to give me. (typical) So I say alright, only to find out that when I get the card the screen is oversaturated in yellow. So I just send the 5200 right back.
At least now the PC works, but after paying $1500+ for the system, and them having it more then I have ( even still ), I am not happy at all with AccessMicro. I honestly do not understand why I was the "unlucky" one out of all these reviews, but I do know one thing, any company that hires Customer Service agents who feel they have the right to lie to their customers deserves to be put out of business."
