"I intended to buy a laptop from them. Their salesman on the phone didn't really inspire confidence in their company, but he was polite. I had asked if they could sell me the laptop without an OS. The salesman said they could and would drop $70 from the price. They said they did not have the 15" screens so I ordered the 14" one. I got a call later and the salesman said they had the 15" screens, and the PC was quite a bit cheaper. This seemed odd to me. I ordered the laptop. A week later he calls and tells me they don't have the components and might have them by mid-november. I cancelled the order.
I think this company needs to work on their communication skills, internal and with the customer."

Mostly my decision on who to purchase with is generally dictated by who has the lowest price with the best shipping rates and who offers the best warranty without trying to charge me more for something the manufacturer actually supplies. But I must say that dealing with AccessMicro was a very pleasant experience. All purchases were handled in a professional manner, I was notified when I was told I was going to be notified concerning shipment and email receipts, and finally you actually have a phone number where a human answers. As the director of computer science for a private school, I was in need of a part ASAP to replace a failed component in a critical computer system. I ordered the part to be shipped Next-Day air from AccessMicro.com. Instead of using a shipper that is reliable and well known (such as FedEx or UPS), they used a small company whose closest outlet is a 4 hour drive from my location, a company that didn't even guarentee next-day service to my location.
I received the package almost a week late. Having paid extra for next-day shipping, I was quite upset. I contacted the company that shipped my product, and they said I could indeed have a refund for the shipping, but I would have to do it through AccessMicro.Com. I tried multiple times to contact them via email, but never heard anything in return. Needless to say, I will cannot rely on AccessMicro.com for time-critical delivery of components. They're lack of response to my requests concerning the matter makes me question the usefulness of their customer service department as well.

Update (10/22/03) - After submitting this post, I was contacted by AccessMicro.Com management concerning the issues stated above. I've been offered a full refund of the next-day shipping fees, as well as a complimentary gift for my troubles. I've also been assured that the issue concerning customer service will be investigated and resolved. The effort they made to contact me personally and fix this problem (including making changes in their delivery system( has restored my confidence in this company."
