I am not without blame here. I waited until the week of to order a birthday gift for my 6 year old nephew. His birthday was Friday.
On Monday, June 20, 2011 I was looking online to purchase a set of catchers gear. I found a number of places with a large disparity in prices. When I came across Opentip.com I noticed they were located in Cambridge, MA. This was a bonus because my nephew is in Massachusetts too. This could really cut down on shipping time… I called Opentip.com to see if they had what I wanted in stock and when it would ship if I ordered it today. I was told it was in stock and it would ship Tuesday! Lie number one…
So I placed my order online and the order confirmation indicated I would be notified when it shipped and receive tracking information. Lie number two…
I didn’t hear from Opentip.com all week long. Finally at 11:30pm on Friday night, I receive an email indicating my package has shipped but no shipping information. It is now Monday evening and still no tracking information via email or on their website and no package!
Did I mention they charged me $21 extra to get it in red? I guess it’s a Red Sox thing…
Tuesday to Friday, I could have walked it to his house in that time, 3X.
After a little research and reading some reviews, there is some question where this company is even based out of. Some people said they had to return their stuff to Canada…
I will never use this company again and suggest you consider this before you place your next online order!
I should have stuck with Amazon!

On June 30 my nephew did receive his gift and it was as it was supposed to be, just 6 days after his birthday and 10 days after I ordered it!
Oh, by the way, the package shipped from Texas…

Opentip.com is still deceptive and misleading in their sales practices. USE AMAZON.COM or some other reputable online reseller.

I ordered a fairly large item which they had the best price on, the shipping was listed as Shipping to US (48 States): $45.95. After over a day of hearing nothing on my order I decided to call to see what the status was, I was put into an extended silent hold when selecting inquiry on an existing order from the phone menu.. after half an hour of holding to complete silence I hung up.

much later in the day I received the following message: "Thanks for your business with us, the item on your order is oversize and needs to be shipped via truck. And the actual shipping for your order is 183.01
We will have to surcharge you $138.06 to fill your order. please advise if it is ok."

Are you freaking kidding me?! you won't honor the listed shipping and it takes you a day and a half to figure out how much it actually is? No, this is NOT OK!

I promptly went to another retailer and ordered the identical item with Free Shipping for just a few dollars more than what Opentip.com had originally listed.

What a waste of time this retailer is!

Add: after posting this review I have started getting all kinds of spam mail to the email address I had given Opentip.. Opentip also provided my personal information to dozens of cash advance, car loan, and similar sites appearently as some sort of retailiation. I have recieved numerous phone calls to the number provided them and was able to verify that they were provided the exact information that I provided in the order with Opentip. Unbelieveable, keep away from these losers!!

"I recently ordered a pair of shoes to be delivered to an address in california. I live in hawaii where shipping is 3 times higher so I really wanted the delivery to happen while I was visiting in California. I ordered on June 3 and received an "order processed" email on June 6th. By the 17th the shoes had still not arrived. I chatted online with customer support who claimed UPS must have "lost my order" did I want to reorder but at $30 shipping on a pair of shoes I declined. I indicated I thought they should pick up the extra $20 and ship to Hawaii because I would not be in California that much longer. Certainly if the problem really WAS UPS, my experience with UPS is that UPS always seem to make it right. I was disappointed - I could have easily ordered from someone else if Opentip was unable to ship."
