Overstock.com No Cancelled Orders policy

"It is impossible to cancel an order at overstock.com. As soon as you hit the buy button, you are stuck. Your only option is to receive the item and then return it at your own expense.
If you try to cancel your order, you send an email. It can take hours to days to receive the “No” response. The reason “your order has been sent to the warehouse already for processing….
Even if it is within minutes, even if the fedex number says that only has a label been created, but hasn’t shipped. No matter what, you can’t cancel an order.

TRASH

"My tv stand arrived defective and damaged. They sent another one and that one arrived the same way. Dealing with customer service is a nightmare. I want to send the trash back and I can't get them to help. I will never order from this sorry excuse for a store AGAIN!"

Go somewhere else

"Overstock and their warehouse had dropped the ball so much in this delivery process. I am still waiting to receive the TV stand whole. First the sent just the fireplace. Then they said they lost the actual 80 pound TV stand. When I called them to ask them where it was after the tracking haven't been updated in a week via UPS. They told me they will send me a replacement one because they can't located the one I purchased 1st.
So looking up the tracking number "the replacement package" is actually first package they lost.
Here is the kicker after waiting two weeks to get a replacement/ same as 1st package. The tools

Exceptional customer service

"I ordered 2 nightstands from Overstock due to the excellent pricing and availability. One arrived damaged in shipping and Overstock completely took care of situation and were so exceptional in their handling of the problem. I highly recommend Overstock as they truly have the best pricing and customer care! "

damaged/defective merchandise delivered which I now need to dispose of

"First they dumped the $1000 large/heavy item 1/2 way to my door unannounced such that I was unable to inspect it first. Then I had to obtain outside help to haul it into my house. Once unpacked it was damaged & defective. I then had to spend all kinds of time calling, emailing & sending pics. Next I was told to hold onto ALL the large copious packaging & the item until they arranged a return pick up & that no refund would be issued until they got it back. This took WEEKS. I had to fill out online return paperwork & schedule a time with the return carrier. I waited an ENTIRE day (4 hour scheduled window plus) for the return as I was told I had to be there. They neither showed up nor called to cancel. MORE calls & emails. Told to wait again for a return carrier update. Next told to dispose of the item myself & would get a refund - stuck almost a month later with a mess of associated trash & a large/heavy item which I apparently will have to pay movers I hire on my own to drag out to the dump. "

Buyer Beware Return Policy

"I recently purchased ~$10,000 in furnishings for my new home which included a $1,500 King mattress. Upon receiving the mattress, I lied down on it and realized that it was too tall for my platform and too soft for my liking. My request for a refund was rejected because Overstock.com policy states the following:

"You will only qualify for a full refund for damaged or defective mattresses, mattress sets, or foundations if you refuse the item(s) at the time of delivery. If damage/defects are found after delivery, please notify us immediately."

It is impossible to know that you will like furniture simply by viewing it on a website. Furniture is used in our living spaces and therefore, we can only know if it meets our needs if we "experience" it in our living space. Overstock.com fails to realize this important fact and therefore, I will never waste another dollar with them.

Complete lack of professional service

"Overstock Order # 33629XXXX
Serta Luxe Edition Grandmere Plush Pillowtop 14-inch Hybrid Mattress


Lets review this order dilemma so that we have accurate information.
(copies of email correspondence is attached at the bottom)

Placed the order on Overstock.com on April 1, 2021
Money was taken off my credit card on April 1, 2021.
On May 21st, (over 50 days later) I contacted Overstock questioning why I had not received the product, and had never heard from anyone.
On May 21st, Elsie V. in customer care acknowledged my request.
On May 22nd, rep. York replied and said it would take him 3-4 days to figure it out.
5 days later on May 27th, John J. an Escalations Specialist replied that they tried to reach me at an old number and needed a current number to contact me to set up delivery.
On May 27th, I responded with my mobile number that was already attached to my account.
I questioned why they had not emailed me.
3 days later on May 30th, Michelle P. an Escallation Specialist II, replied that I had given them the old number when I ordered. Since that number was disconnected a year prior, that could not be accurate.
On June 4th, John J. an Escalations Specialist responded saying that the carrier had my new number and would contact me within 2-3 business days.
It is now June 14, 10 days after promising me 2-3 days contact, and 75 days after placing the order with no contact, and I have still not heard anything.

My thoughts on Overstock.com and their specialists, and complete lack of professional service:

They were quick to charge my credit card the full amount (April 1st), and notify me that the status was “shipped awaiting tracking update” (April 1st). That obviously was a lie. But used to justify charging my card immediately. And then Overstock did nothing.
I ship and receive many items and have NEVER had a shipper have to call me to set up a delivery.
Most supply email updates, but your specialist claims that “Our partners & the carriers they use will not contact you by email under normal circumstances as they will always make attempts to reach you by phone.” NORMAL CIRCUMSTANCES? Would you say that not doing anything for almost 2 months is normal circumstances? Does this fall under non-professional service? Probably more like absurd service.
When I gave them my other contact number you responded saying that I would be contacted in 2-3 days. That response was already 9 days after I had given you my number on May 27th. Under these circumstances, I would expect a professional organization to have contacted the supplier and requested that they contact me immediately!
It has taken 4 different representatives to accomplish very little, to nothing so far.
Instead it appears they are doing their best to dodge any responsibility.
This falls under the worst customer service of any company, and complete lack of professionality.
I can only wonder what story or excuse they will come back to me with now!

"6 Days after placing an order for a dining table and chairs, I get an email that our order is cancelled.. No explanation. I called, and after sitting on hold for ever, a girl tells me that they are out of stock "Sorry".
I asked for a manager several times and was denied. Finally she takes my number, but its 3 days later and no call... I will NEVER buy ANYTHING from UNDERSTOCK.COM

Terrible customer service

"I purchased a bed (order #334221127) and one of the boxes had a broken part. I contacted Overstock and I got a replacement days later. When I opened the other box to assemble everything, I noticed some parts were missing. I contacted them again so they could send me the missing parts and I didn't have to return everything.

Bottom line, It's been 20 days with no solution and they wanted to send me a whole new bed and force me to return the one that I already have assembled. Seriously, terrible customer service.

Partial refund for their error!

"They can’t deliver and charge me because they say I changed my mind. I lost a full days wages and lost a vacation day because they never showed up. Then because I can’t take more time off from work (delivery window is 8am-8pm) they said I changed my mind. I’m now out 114$. They don’t care. "

Where do I begin...

"Overstock used to be alright... now it's just trash. The "estimated delivery dates" on product pages are downright fake... Customer service said: "Minimum shipping timeframe is 1-2 business days and 3-6 business days to deliver once the item ships."

How tf do they come up with the 2 day estimated delivery date then?? It makes zero sense.

The item I bought was an electric snow shovel that I needed ASAP because the NE is getting hit with a lot of snow in the next few days... If I ordered from Homedepot I would have already gotten it today.

I even asked to cancel my order and issue a refund, but they said they couldn't because it "shipped"... Bruh a shipping label was created, and the item wasn't even picked up. Why tf can't you cancel my order. It has been that status for 2 days now. Seriously smh.

There's really no point in using Overstock anymore given how there are many (better) online retailers are nowadays. JFC.

Worst customer service experience with this company

"Worst customer service experience with this company. I will never buy anything from them. I bought this chair originally (signed as guest) and I provided them with email address to notify about shipping status etc. Never got any email. But got a small text coming from anonymous number not even showing overstock company name, just showing confirmation. I waited 2-3 days. Never heard back about shipment. So I thought I never ordered this item. I went ahead and reordered it this time I signed on with this website. Later within 1-2 hours while checking my phone texts I realized that I already ordered this item and found order #. I immediately went online and placed a cancellation on this new order. On top of it I also texted back to their customer service advising them about this duplicate order being placed. They concurred that the order is showing cancelled. But even it gets shipped we will take care of you and issue you a return label free of cost. I also confirmed with them that I can also refuse the shipment and they gave me vague answer yes sure. I was satisfied after hearing this coming from a reputable company customer service. My first shipment came in which I gladly accepted being accurate few days ago. But today UPS left another box at my door steps. I wish I would have knew and returned the shipment immediately with driver. Anyhow I contacted the overstock customer service and they demanded to pay them $75 which I refused. They refused to give me my free return label. Later they start bargaining saying please join our $20 club o membership and we may help you with return shipping fees. I replied no. Later they offered me half off 75 return fess. I still refused saying this is not my fault. I already notified you to cancel my order and you still shipped it. The agent told me that they use 3rd party company to ship their products (which I was never knew). I told him that I was not buying from third party. I was buying at overstock which seems to be a reputable company. But agent didn't seems to understand where I was coming from. He went ahead and issued me a RMA to send the item back to a different address instead of where it came from. Asking me to pay for the return fees on my own. I told him that I am refusing this shipment via UPS and they are coming to pick it up from me on record. He didn't paid any attention of what I was telling him and he kept texting me of what he deemed to be right. I have never dealt with any customer service in my life ever. But it is for sure this will be my last purchase from Overstock.com"
