"It was easy to find the products advertised on television (good campaign, btw--I love Rooney)! I also appreciate the ability to use PayPal. I am getting this for my mom, who always insists she doesn't want anything for Xmas. So this year, I'm giving a gift on her behalf and creating a special handmade ornament to hang on the tree that symbolizes the "gift chickens". Although there is a clear posting on the site that the money goes to a general fund, it helps the donor picture the utility of their gift when it's equated with a goat, books for kids, or a pair of chickens! I think that's very useful for one-time or holiday donors. In the future, I'm wondering if larger gifts might be offered in the same easy-to-use gifting fashion, like sponsorships of specific projects in specific regions (e.g., mosquito nets for an entire village, diapers for a women's shelter for a year in a specific city). I know this might be more difficult to arrange, since it can't be offered perpetually, but in my town I know a lot of generous organizations that would love to make a holiday donation to a specific cause or village with the easy 1-click process Oxfam has created for this holiday gift campaign. [lol, I'm not sure how to turn these donations into a permanent pledge, but maybe you've got some ideas!] I figure this could be in a special section for big-ticket items. Anyway, just a thought!
