"I was so impressed with the selection at Ozbo and the flat rate shipping, even on heavy items, was a great deal! I assumed that since they offer heavy weight items and no limit for the flat rate shipping, that shipping large or heavy orders would not be a problem for their company and that they must have a deal worked out with UPS or Fed Ex or something. On the Ozbo site, I could not find mention of special shipping requirements or delays to shipping for large orders, just the claim of super fast shipping. I ordered cat litter and some cat scratchers for our rescue and shelter; granted, a very heavy order...but what a nightmare this turned out to be. To start, there was a delay in shipping, I was a bit disappointed as there was no communication from Ozbo until we contacted them to ask about the delay. We received a response asking us if we have a dock. I told them "no" and they said no problem that they would be shipping the order that day. We did not hear anything more...after almost a week, we checked and the status of the order still showed sent to warehouse. Again, we inquired on the order...the response (with no apology, no note or anything) was a shipping slip from a freight company (we had no idea the order was being delivered via a freighting company as there was no communication from Ozbo). The shipping slip showed that the order was to be delivered that day...we waited, no delivery, another day, still no delivery. We contacted the freight company and were told we needed to set up a delivery appointment and that since they did not have a phone number for us, the delivery was sitting in their warehouse, on hold. We called to set up a delivery appointment and found out they only deliver to our area M-W-F, during business hours. Long story short, had to take a half day off of work to wait for this freight company and their "window" of delivery times. Once they arrived, they could not get their very large truck back our driveway, so we had to drive to the road and help them to hand unpack items into our SUV. Two of the bags of cat litter have huge rips in them and most of the litter is missing from those bags. Not exactly a bargain to pay for destroyed items.
I greatly appreciate Ozbo honoring their flat rate shipping, I am guessing that they lost money on this order with the shipping. However, a little communication from Ozbo would have gone a long ways in avoiding this nightmare. Had we been informed that the order would ship via a freighting company, we would have opted to cancel the order.
I still think Ozbo has a great selection and good prices on most items, the flat rate shipping is wonderful. Just wish there was an easier solution for shipping heavy/large orders.
Reply to Ozbo...a little communication from your company would go a long way in avoiding problems.
UPDATE: Yet another disappointing experience with Ozbo. We decided to give Ozbo the benefit of the doubt and ordered some dog toys that showed "in stock, ships within 24 hours" as the item status. Our credit card was charged and we waited and waited for a shipping update. After a week of no update and the order still showing "to warehouse" we contacted Ozbo. We received a reply the next day that none of the items we ordered are available and that they will credit our credit card which might take 3-5 business days. Wondering how long their company would have left this order sit if we hadn't contacted them. This is the last time we will ever deal with this company!"
