Wish all online vendors were as good as Parts Express!

"I have been a customer with Parts Express well over 10 years. Along with their exemplary customer sevice, they offer an extremely broad range of products at consistently low prices. I find their Dayton Audio cables and connectors to be as good if not better than Best Buy's Insignia brand products at half the cost (or less).
I found the rating of one (1) star on resellerratings.com to be a BOGUS number. I quickly scanned the first 45 ratings and found the average to be 3.7 stars. Take out the dishwasher valve and VAT tax issue complaints which don't even apply to this vendor and their rating climbs to 4.1 stars. Even if the remaining 40 reviews were all only 1 star (which I really doubt they are) PE would still have a 2.6 star rating. You're doing a real disservice to people looking for a good source of home a/v, speaker building, pro audio et al with this rating.

Absolutely will not shop with again, ever

" I ordered a pair of restock speakers, then several days later received an email saying that they did not have them in stock, even though their computer showed that they did. They then told me I could buy a new pair and that they had canceled my order without even talking to me about it. I will no longer do business with parts express for any reason. I suggest you don't either "

"I have been a regular customer for about 2 years, and am shocked to see the low rating on this site. Makes me think something is not completely on the up and up here. At any rate, I highly recommend parts-express and do not believe they sell dishwasher valves. That's probably parts direct or something similar."

"I have been a Parts express customer for over 15 years and have purchase tons of stuff. Car stereos, car speakers, surround sound speakers and amps, guitar amplifiers, guitar replacement speakers, outdoor speakers, car video equipment, vocal mikes and other stuff that I can't even remember. I think I had one shipping problem in all that time. By the way I don't think that they have ever sold dishwasher valves , stupid. "

"I ordered a dishwasher fill valve for my Mother. She only uses the diswaher when she has a lot of company, so we did not realize until four months later that the valve would not turn completely off when the dishwasher was off. Parts Express not only would not extend warranty coverage, they would not even give me the satisfaction of a response. I even asked if they would just send me a replacement rubber seal. No response. Terrible customer interface."

"I question their ethics based on my experience with their feedback system.

I ordered there video wall mounts and used several of them. I'm a professional installer and was disappointed in the units performance.

So I gave the product a critical review and low rating. Within a few minutes it was deleted. This has occurred on more than one occasion. Those who can be trusted with little can be trusted with much. Those who can not be trusted with an honest feedback system can not be trusted.

"I had to pay another $45 between import VAT and brokerage fees, something I was completely unaware of.
Needless to say, I would not have made the purchase had I knew how expensive this would have been.

You should REALLY be more clear about the shipping fees - at a whopping $45 I assumed import duties were covered - this is some terrible, terrible customer service I received and I will reflect this in my online reviews of your company.

"Don't order from these people, they gouge you on shipping big time.

I found another item with another vender that suited my needs better after I placed my order with Parts Express. The Parts Express order was shipped before I could cancel it. Shipping was $11.90 on my order of 2 audio cables. I was told that the cost of a refused package would also be around $12. Upon arrival, the package contained 2 catalogues that weighed almost as much as my actual order. They refunded me the cost of the items but kept the $11.90 for shipping. I shipped the 2 cables back with UPS ground for $3.45. I threw the catalogues away.


I will not be dealing with this company in the future.

"Parts Express is a great supplier! I have been very pleased with all of my purchases from them. I have received great deals on quality parts. On one occasion when I received a damaged order they took care of it to my complete satisfaction. "Needed replacement batteries for my Oral B. They had them. The price was good, the options for shipping was good. Quick delivery even with Smartpost selected. I can tell that I am going to get a lot of their catalogs even though I won't have an ongoing need for what they sell. This was specialty Ni-Cads."

"Don't do buisiness with this company especially if you think a return may be in order. I talked with a service rep regarding my perchase problem in which the woofers wouldn't power up well. I checked everything that was reviewed and still no quality volume. They charged a 30% restocking fee and additional use marks deduction on half my order. The one good thing is the customer service department was very polite."

"I am totally pleased with my first order of home audio parts from Parts Express. Their product selection is excellent, the prices are very good (much less than local stores), and the products that I received were of excellent quality. The web site is easy to use and very functional for product searches. I placed my order on the Sunday before Thanksgiving and paid $3 extra for FedEx home delivery with an estimated delivery day of Wednesday. On Monday, I received an email stating that my order had been shipped and that I would receive it on Friday. My order was actually delivered on Thanksgiving morning."

"*BEWARE*
I ordered four speakers for a project but only received two. I had asked that they ship to my work address. After four weeks with no word from them I finally called to cancel the remainder of the order but was told (miracle of miracles) that my remaining speakers had just been shipped that day. A week later, the project that I was working on was completed and I was laid off. A week after that, the speakers arrived at my former workplace. Our secretary signed for them but then realized that I no longer worked there. The next day she returned them to PartsExpress.

I called the customer service number and got a snarky little girl that said it was all my fault for losing my job.

Weeks went by and then I received an e-mail notifying me that I would get a partial refund minus the return shipping because it was my fault that the items were returned!

To my mind, they are a pack of crooks.

Never again. Caveat emptor.

"While I've been very happy with Parts Express in the past and recommended it to my friends, I had an extremely disappointing experience this time around.

I placed an order over the weekend for a project that was to be completed for use on Friday. I was happy to learn that with the default shipping options it would arrive Wednesday or Thursday.

However, by Wednesday I had not received a shipping confirmation and called to verify things were being processed. The customer service representative informed me that they put my order on hold because they attempted to contact me to confirm that my shipping and billing addresses were different.

The phone number associated with my credit information was no longer valid as my number has changed since that card was issued. However, it was still necessary for verification purposes. When I asked why they could not email me or use the number associated with my shipping address I was told by the customer service that it's because it "could not be verified."

This is all despite the fact that I had placed orders under this account previously and the shipping and billing addresses were located in the same city!

Thanks to this completely unnecessary delay I will no longer receive the parts in time for this gig and I am extremely disappointed in the service provided. When I inquired what it would cost to overnight the shipping instead of getting 2-day delivery I was quoted $150! This was 50% more than the order itself!

I just want to reiterate this is utterly ridiculous behavior. I am well able to monitor my own accounts for fraudulent activity and the procedures taken here violate any sense of customer service or common sense. And this was all "for my own protection."

One of the reasons I liked and used Parts Express so much in the past was the reliable and fast service. This kind of discrepancy is a deal-breaker and their customer service department could do nothing to rectify the situation.
