"Upon delivery I found the six parts I had ordered loosely deposited into a large, single, unsupported cardboard box. During the transit, this box had been mangled with several gaping holes. Two lengths of packing tape were the only means that held the contents together as the driver had to drag what was left of the box to the lift gate. In this delivery, three metal parts were taped together and thrashed about freely in the box. These parts were bent and marred upon delivery. Fortunately, the other contents were somehow undamaged.
The most obvious result of poor packaging is the product damage. If the container is not durable enough to withstand the conditions faced along the supply chain, then it is likely that the product will reach the purchaser damaged, which could result in refusal of the products by the purchaser.
Poor packaging will deter customers from purchasing future products, resulting in loss of sales.
I paid $164.64 for shipping and $54.36 for handling, a total of $219.00, and 16 days of processing and delivery that resulted in product damages and possibly refusal of delivery, which would have resulted in a refund and your loss of time and profit in attempting to discount the products in order to resell.
I accepted the delivery due to the down time and schedule set-back that would have resulted in the refusal of the products, and by my ability to restore the condition of the damaged goods.
Customer service would improve if not outsourced.
