Awful experience

"Petco has been absolutely awful to work with. I have had the same issue on my account for over 4 months now and have called multiple times. I requested to have my repeat delivery canceled as I no longer need pet food from them and every time I call to get help (because their app never works) I get told they will take care of the issue, call me back when it’s completed, AND IT NEVER GETS FIXED!!!!

I am so over Petco, I still have the issue and no one has seemed to care that this is a huge inconvenience to me. I am now wanting my entire online account to be deleted off their system because this. Has. Been. A. Headache.

Very unprofessional. I still have my issue of having repeat deliveries when I don’t want them. They are wasting my time and energy and I am SO put off with their services.

Selling sick fish

"Bought fish Monday this week cardinal neon tetra next day fish starts to develop white spots I bought medicine but fishes still in pretty bad condition.
I whent to store today and they told me that whole colony is sick so I naturally asked for refund because had to spend extra money for medicine ,the guy in store just refused me and told me that they not selling sick fish even dough 2 tanks are full of sick fish.
Please avoid this store as looks like they not taking any responsibility for stock that they selling. I had very bad experience with them.

Disappointed

"We signed up for group dog training classes back in February. Received a confirmation with a member# telling us what to bring to training on April 4th. When we came into the store looking for training no one knew anything about it!
When we got to speak with the manager he told us the trainer did not come in, she was home with family. We took time and rearranged our Easter Sunday to come over. The manager asked if we heard from the trainer. No we never did hear from her. We were told we were the only ones signed up for this group class. This was not what we were looking for. We wanted the group class. The trainer never reached out to us to let us know she would not be there!
Very disappointing and poor customer service.

Never doing business with Petco again!

"I'll start by saying that our local Market Basket grocery store carries the Iams Perfect Portions 12-Packs for $9.99 as a regular price. Unfortunately, they ran out when we were nearly out of it at home, and they were also out of it at another nearby reputable pet store, so we opted to place an order for it via the Petco website, even though it was going to cost us an extra $2 per 12-pack (we ordered four).

The order was placed on Friday 01/29/2021 @ 6:42pm, which promised 1-2 day free delivery (with the amount/total I was ordering), but I became concerned when the order hadn't even been shipped yet as of the morning of Wednesday 02/03/2021, so at 10:50am, I called Petco, spoke with a foreign rep by the name of "Fan", indicating the order can't be canceled since it's been shipped. I already had screenshots saved from earlier that morning to prove that while it showed the shipment was ready for UPS, the order was still in Petco's possession, and had not yet been handed over to UPS. I advised the rep that the shipment may have been processed, but that it's still in Petco's possession, not yet picked up by UPS (tracking shows "Shipment Ready for UPS"), so it's not yet in UPS' possession, and the order needs to be canceled with a full refund back to my credit card. The rep indicated she can't cancel the order herself, put in a request to have the order cancelled, indicating I should return the order to the Petco store in the next town over if I should be in receipt of it today. I asked the rep how I would receive it today if it hasn't even been shipped out (and why should I waste my time physically returning something when they should be able to cancel it on their end), and that we need to find someone to cancel the order if she can't do it, whether it's a supervisor or director or whomever, and that I don't want to waste my time with someone else that can't cancel the order. The rep advised that there was no supervisor available at this time, so she's putting in a request for the order to be cancelled, and will have a supervisor call me back on the home phone when they're available. Non-one ever called back again after she got me off the phone, and as of this morning, the order shows it was being shipped via UPS as of 10:33pm on 02/03/2021 (nearly 12 hours after I asked for the order to be cancelled), so I will now have to deal with an order that I no longer want or need ... I will NEVER do business with Petco ever again for any needs for any of my six pets.

Terrible

"Ordered dog food to be delivered and the website said it would take 25 minutes. I was at work and can’t lift the heavy bag due to a chest injury. So I thought it would be perfect. An hour rolls by, then two, then 10 and nothing shows up. I called customer service to check in and all they can tell me is because I was 7 minutes past 2 pm it could show up the next morning. So I wait. And still nothing the next day. I call again and now they tell me it could be there by 5 pm. Having to give my dog food from my pantry instead of his dog food. Never using it again and SUPER disappointed. If I could give it a 0 star I would."

Unhealthy fish...dead within a week

"On 9/11/20 bought two Tequila Sunrise guppies from Petco. Yesterday one died inexplicably, Today, I found the other dead. Water chemistry, temperature, etc. are all within normal limits. All of my other fish are active and healthy. One can only conclude the fish I purchased from Petco were in ill health prior to my buying them. Will never purchase fish from them again and will warn all of my aquarist friends to avoid them as well."

Horrible store and horrible employee

"When I first got my dog I bought most of his stuff food, toys, grooming was all done by Petco. I quickly found that the dog food that I was buying from them had bugs in the bag dog food. I found out from neighbor that used to work there, this was a common problem coming from Petco. Needless to say I stopped getting dog food there!
I used to use them for grooming but the quality of the groom that I would get for my dog was horrible. the girls that took care of him was very rough and very rude to customers. the last time I took my dog there for a makeover they only did 3 of his 4 paws. this place is a total sham will never ever go back to this dump Horrible store and horrible employee

Amazing customer service!

"I always shopped at PetSmart and I recently switched over to Petco when I was shopping online for cat products and noticed their amazing prices! They have great deals and sales, as well as a loyalty program that is very easy to use and keep track of. They have amazing customer service representatives who are always friendly, polite, and cheerful! They are quick to answer the phone as well. Recently, I placed a pickup in store order for something at Petco. Unfortunately, they cancelled my pickup in store order because the product was out of stock but they then emailed me and offered to ship the product to me for free, with an additional discount! So I ended up getting my product shipped to me for even cheaper than I was expecting with in store pickup. Great experience!"

Unethical behavior during pandemic

"This company has fired employees, stripping away desperately needed health benefits and income, during Covid and the country's financial crisis. Their reasoning is not based on severe issues such as violent behavior or customer treatment, but because of the smallest of issues (ex: a beta recently pooped in it's water, or a fish had new water (which comes out of the tap cloudy until it settles) and the water hadn't crystallized yet. These things are enough to take away security and healthcare from American citizens. It doesn't matter that the people affected are immunocompromised, or that newborn infants will be stripped of their health coverage during Covid. It doesn't even matter that the people fired were not the ones "at fault" since the employees you could say were responsible are still there. It doesn't matter that the ones fired had taken steps to try to fix the issues. "

"I ordered HomeoPet worm clear for my little girls kittens & at check out it gave the price of $ 11.79 including shipping & a delivery date of Tuesday & it had the option of next day delivery for an extra fee, so I paid the extra for next day . I checked my email for the confirmation & clicked the track my order & lo & behold it says Tuesday is the delivery day which was the original day of delivery if I hadn't paid the extra for next day delivery. So i called customer support and was not listened to & she double talked me & over talked me and refused to refund the extra that was paid for the product to be delivered next day & argued with me that i didn't pay for next day when my bank account says otherwise & I wrote down the cost of product before choosing to do next day . The next day option was over$14.00 & all I was asking for was a refund of the extra. She refused & said i'm not going to refund you & kept double talking & over talking me & I could barely get a word in at all . They stole my money. Petco doesn't care about their customers they are theif's . They steal from their customers & refuse to make it right. I want my money back & i will not recommend Petco or Petco.com to anyone. I have had issues in the store too. They are rude & not helpful & have double charged us before or you can walk around their stores looking for something & not be able to locate what you're looking for & the employees will not even try to offer to help you but will continue standing around pretending to be busy or just talking amongst themselves & don't bother to walk up to them & ask for their help they get an attitude or act like you just ruined their day . I got bitten by a ferret once in their store because I had lain my hand on top of the enclosure to pick up something my baby at the time had dropped to steady myself & one bit me & not one employee offered to help me as I stood there bleeding every where & practically in tears & when I went the register to ask for help & maybe some first aid , I was told they didn't have any first aid kits or supplies & I was handed a paper towel. There was no signs on the ferret enclosure saying not to put hands on top of it or any other kind of warnings. So i have been wronged by petco.com & Petco before & don't recommend patroning this business unless you like being robbed & treated like it's torture for them to help you or you like being double charged or rudeness towards you etc. They are wrong & stole my money ."

Like to Steal Your Money!

"Not sure how they are in business, since this is the second time they’re trying to steal my money. Has anyone else had this issue? First time, “transaction was nowhere to be found in their system” to do a refund, even though the cashier was a witness to charging my card. I had to get my bank involved and it showed up in their system. Thank God for my bank! That was awhile ago when I vouched I wouldn’t purchase from them again. However, my husband needed food for his pet, and buys from them, so I ordered through their app, and it wasn’t until I got an email confirmation stating that it would be arriving next week. I called services saying I would like to cancel the order since I need the pet food today, and the lady claimed she couldn’t cancel it. The “system” wouldn’t allow her to. If you don’t call that stealing then what is? I didn’t use my normal bank, so I’ll have to see if this bank can help me stop Petco from stealing my money. "

"I was informed that my pets heart meds were shipped on 5-10-20, even sent a tracking number. Started tracking the package on Sunday and the package is still setting at Petco. Call and was give a lot of run around talk. Will never order from them again!"

Crappy Online Experience

"I purchased some aquarium gravel online through Petco's website. Immediately afterwards I realized I would rather just order it from the store and and do curb side pickup in order to save on shipping. I went to cancel my order through Petco, and the Petco site said you had to call them for cancellations, which I found kind of odd in this day in age, but whatever, I called them to cancel. I explained what happened and they said they would handle the cancellation request while I put in another order for curb side pickup from my local Petco. They said someone would follow back up with me the next day in regards to my cancellation request, which again, I found pretty odd; why do they need to contact me the next day in regards to a cancellation request, just cancel it. So the next day I pickup my order from Petco. On my way home I get a call from a customer service representative in regards to my online order. They said it already shipped and they couldn't cancel the request and that there was nothing they could do. Again, I put in my cancellation requests literally minutes after I submitted the order. I'm guessing these traditional retail companies with a web presence are getting owned so bad by the successful online retailers like Amazon and Chewy that they have to resort to shady tactics in order to milk their customers for every penny. Whatever, I will file a dispute with the credit card company and never shop at Petco again. Screwing your customers over for penny's is not a long term strategy for success. I will stick with online retailers like Chewy who do it right and don't try and screw over the customer."

Worst treatment by a store manager ever

"This was the absolute worse shopping/adopting experience of our lives.

We came into the store as a family because my spouse doesn't drive and is disabled, and the kids are too young to leave at home alone. It was a hot spring day, not fit to leave young children in the van.

My wife wanted a bird to adopt and was looking at a $450 conure. The kids were passively looking into the plastic upright cages while my wife was asking questions about the conure to an old crone employee who was cleaning the cages. The embittered dowager sales person was clearly annoyed by my spouse's question, and when she closed the cage door and came around the cage, she yelled at us for having too many people in our party.

I responded that we were here to adopt a bird and was about to spend seven or eight hundred dollars on the bird and supplies for it. She crowed on that it was a "State law" only two people to a party inside the store.

Now, as a resident of the state and being well-versed in COVID-19 pandemic legislation and ordinances in our area, I corrected her that the governor never issued a stay-at-home order and that the two person thing was that store's suggestion, not a law or policy. Well, she freaked out and waddled to the store manager, another dowerless old crone, who proceeded to yell from across the front of the store, "Goodbye. Have a nice day" repeatedly. We were kicked out of their store! Had they loss their minds? My wife was humiliated.

I never heard of such a thing. I called Petco customer service and was on the phone almost a hour with them. They took a complaint and asked me if I wanted to speak to the district manager. I said yes and was told the DM would be given my contact information. The DM never called.

Shame on Petco for treating my poor disabled wife so rudely and for not caring enough to call me back and at least explain the store manager's strange behavior. We went to three other Petco stores immediately afterward across the river while I was on hold with customer service, complaining about the Council Bluff store's treatment of us, and all three Omaha store teams were shocked and added that there was no law or policy restricting us from shopping at Petco.

I want an apology from that store manager for my wife.

No receipt. Even if faulty no return.

"I had bought a kong collar off of ebay. When I got in touch with kong about my collar being faulty they told me I had to go thru Petco to get a replacement. No big deal. I thought. Petco not only wanted a picture of the faulty collar they said they would need a receipt for the original purchase. How many of you keep all your receipts for your dog purchases. So because I didn't have a receipt they didn't even want to email me back. I waited four days and two emails later to find out this is how Kong gets around backing their products. They put petco in charge of their returns. How much does it actually cost to always make sure the customer is always right. Glad I dont run my business like they run theirs. Stay away from petco and kong products. I know I will from now on. "
