Also, I sent a few emails about when the product was going to send and the company got back to me as soon as working hours started. Instead of chatting through emails they have very good customer support where I could just call them up or they'll call you and not feel unwelcomed"

"I'm posting this review because I didn't find the existing reviews to be as specific as I'd have liked. Much as I did, you are reading this because you like the look of their prices, but they look too good to be true. I too made sure to check out the ratings for Primotronix before committing to buy. I acknowledged before placing my order that the negative reviews mostly factor around slow order fulfillment and customer service problems. If you know this ahead of time, then you'll find that Primotronix are a totally fine place to order from.

I knew that I was probably going to be in for a little bit of hassle, but nonetheless I placed my order for a camera and lens (T3i body and a 50mm). I was in no particular hurry to receive them, so I was happy to chance longer delivery times in order to benefit from the much cheaper cost ($499 at Primotronix; $630 at Amazon).

It took exactly 2 weeks from placing the order to receive the stuff. I phoned up 1 week after placing my order to chase it up, and the guy confirmed that he would send it to the warehouse. I'm not sure whether my phone call was the catalyst for getting the order processed; it could very well be that you need to phone up before the order is shipped. As other reviewers have mentioned, the sales rep does promote battery and memory upgrades, though they are not pushy about it; I did not opt for any upgrades personally.

The order was actually shipped 3 business days after I phoned. It was shipped at 6:30pm and I received it at 9am the next morning (ironically fast shipping, though I'm only in RI and they're in CT).

The camera and lens did not come in official factory sealed boxes. The camera body came in a Canon box and the individual contents were wrapped as though they were new, but the box itself had been opened. It was clear that the box had previously also contained a lense; presumably it had been bundled with one, and that lens had been subsequently removed. The lens that I actually ordered was in a separate unmarked white box, wrapped in bubble wrap and then put into a ziplock bag. Definitely not factory packaging, but the lens was new nonetheless.

I called up Primotronix just to check what the deal was with the packaging. The sales rep (can't remember his name; might have been David or Richard) was polite and forthcoming; specifically, the reason for the lens packaging was that it had previously been bundled with a different camera.

So, whilst the 'new and factory sealed' claim on the website may be dubious, the fact is that both the camera and lens I received were indeed new. It's very possible that they're grey-market imports, but I was still able to register them both online with Canon, so their USA warranties are valid and the items are brand new.

Overall, Primotronix was not nearly as bad as some reviews would have you believe. You're reading this review because you've seen how cheap their prices are; your order will take a few weeks to arrive and be prepared to call them once or twice. But ultimately, you will get the things that you want, they'll be legit, and you'll have saved a ton of money."
