"I ordered 2 phone cables on 7/6/2004, and my CC was charged immediately. In the weeks that followed, several e-mails and phone messages went unanswered. Finally, on 8/23, I received a notice that my order had shipped USPS. The USPS status said that USPS had been "notified by RPI wireless on 8/23 that a package would be sent". The status NEVER changed. After more unanswered e-mails, on 10/5, I finally got a PERSON on the phone by calling the SALES phone number (tricked you RPI, ha ha!) The guy I spoke with blamed USPS (even though USPS claims RPI never actually delivered a package to USPS!) Finally, on 10/7 I received the cables via DHL.
The SKU numbers did not match the cables. It took another 10 days to get someone on the phone at RPI; he assured me that the cables would work, even though the SKU numbers were wrong. Next, I tried the software that came on the homemade-looking RPI CD, but it refused to install on my system. I then hunted down newer versions on the Internet (it was all freeware anyway). I finally got it all working today. I've made well over two hundred purchases on the Internet from dozens of merchants and individuals, and I've NEVER had an experience this bad. Please, please please, stay away from RPI wireless!!!"
"I ordered an lg vx7000 data cable from RPI they never delivered and after many attempts to contact them and failing I've finally opened a claim with Visa and my bank. This company is bogus. I've requested multiple times to have my money refund, left messages that were never returned as well as many many emails. Don't buy from RPI !!"
"After and extended attempt to resolve what I hoped was a misunderstanding, I'm forced to conclude that RPI Wireless is probably a fraud. They do not respond to mail, phone, or chat queries and, at least in my case, took money and did not fulfil the order. Even attempts to contact their President, Robert Valentine, directly were not fruitful"
"I purchased an LG VX6000 "charging" USB cable off of RPI wireless'. It took about 1 week before he finally shipped it out, and from that point on, things only got worse.
After I got the cable, I followed the directions on RPI Wireless website for setting it up. I installed the drivers first, then I plugged my phone it. It was detected, began loading drivers...then it just froze my computer. I am running Windows XP, and I had to do a hard reboot. Tried it again, same thing happened.
So I emailed RPI to get some support. They did not reply. So I emailed them again, this time they responded and told me to call. I did not really feel like talking to these people, but I called anyway. No answer. Called again, got voicemail.
To make a long story short, I'd highly recommend NOT doing business with RPI. Their .71 rating here is very flattering, i'd give them a -10. Oh, and here is something amusing...while RPI would not answer the phone or reply to emails...post a complaint about them on HowardForums.com and watch how fast he replies. I bet he is so busy trying to plug up all the "holes" that he forgets to ship things on time, and support his customers.
Now about the cable for my VX6000. I posted my problem on Howard Forums and was directed to a set of USB drivers for the VX5800 phone. For some reason, the VX6000 drivers do not work right on ALL win XP systems. They DID work on my laptop, but I want the cable to work on ALL my computers."
"I ordered a LG USB data kit from this vendor. It arrived very timely, and very well wrapped. After opening it, I was extremely disappointed by the lack of professionalism. The drivers CD were home made with a CD burner on Durabrand CD-Rs (Durabrand is the Walmart store brand... yes, they bought them at Walmart). And the connector set is obviously third-party generic. As a seasoned software programmer, it took me well over 20 minutes to figure out how to get the device working properly, so I have great sympathy to all those others who said the drivers didn't work. The software boot-sequence was written with Visual Basic, and the writers did not even bother to change the default program icon! (Not to mention an extremely silly song that is played when the CD is inserted into the drive... something akin to 4 drunk guys singing about how RPI wireless is awesome.)
Overall, I got a cheap product, and it worked. That much I am happy with. I've just got a suspicion that for your average user, its just gonna be frustration."
"I too ordered a data cable from this company, however DID receive it in a timely manner. Yes, they charged my card immediately. I did make the mistake of trying to call and add items to my order, two phone holsters. Once I found a number that would get me through instead of the menu loop that the 888 number puts you through, I was able to get a person to add the holsters to my order and they shipped with the cable. However, once I received them, I did not like them and tried to return. They WOULD NOT allow me to return them. I'm stuck with $24.00 work of product that I DO NOT WANT. Avoid this company.
BTW: to find their "hidden" number, go to http://www.rpiwireless.com, and do a text select below the manufacturers logo's, you'll find a (618) number there that answeres with "hello". Yeah, I think it's someones basement."
"Stay sway from RPI Wireless!
I ordered a USB charging cable from them on 3/6/04 and my credit card was immediately charged. The next day they emailed me to let me know the order has been completed and was being sent out by USPS Priority Mail.
2 weeks later still no cable. I called and emailed the company at least a dozen times but did not receive any response. It's as if no one works at RPI Wireless.
6 weeks after my initial order I placed an order with a competitor. I also called up my CC company to dispute the charge. 4 days later UPS tries to drop off a package from RPI and I refused shipment.
I'll never deal with these guys again. If you want to hear more horror stories log onto Howards Forum."
"Was told by sales person that the required installation software CD would be included with mobile phone datacable but did not receive the CD with purchase.
Have not been successful contacting anyone at RPI by phone after several attempts.
Plan to return cable for refund. "
"Credit card charged day of order, item never shipped, emails and calls not answered, webpage shows order "complete" but no tracking number. On-line "help" menu goes offline when I enter my order number to ask for refund or shipment. Grossly inept business conduct avoid this merchant!"
" This has been the worst buying experience ever. On January 22, 2004 at 7:00 am I ordered a data cable for my phone from this site. Today is the 2nd of February, and the only thing I have received is an email saying that the order is complete. No cable and no tracking number. I am currently holding on the phone for over 20 minutes listrning to some crappy music with a voice cutting in every once in a while telling me I am the first person on the queue.
Whatever you do avoid these people like the plague. It is probably some kind of rip off. Next call is to the CC company to stop payment."
