"This will be a somewhat brief review of the aimpoint pro. The optic comes in a no frills white box, build quality is very robust, qrp2 mount locks and mounts up very solidly, not to mention that I would consider this a qd mount of sorts although it doesn't fall under the traditional throw lever variety. Very easy to zero and adjust brightness levels. Battery life is phenomenal at 30,000 hours although if you can spare the extra $400 dollar's the comp m4 gets an astounding 80,000 hours and runs on a standard aa batt. however if your on a budget you would be better served by the pro. Although I have not abused mine there are several accounts online of this optic withstanding an unreasonable amount of abuse, going as far as withstanding a house fire in one case were the rifle had melted and become inoperable but the optic would still turn on. Now for the only two negative points that I could find on this gem, one is the oddball battery that the optic takes, up until I purchased the pro I had never heard of a 3 volt dl 1/3 n. Maybe I'm just sheltered....I dunno.... but I would have loved a basic aa it just makes life a little bit easier. These 3v are not the most common batteries, not to say there impossible to obtain. But you definitely have to look harder than for a aa. The second concern I have is with the brightness settings now it's great that it's NV compatible (if your into that sort of thing....which I am) but It almost seems like the only real usable modes are gonna be the last three maybe four, the rest are so dim there's no real use for them, unless your using the ninja night vision gear then only the first few settings are of any use. The rest of the settings kinda get stuck in a no man's land of "to bright for night vision but not bright enough for daytime or even lowlight conditions". Aside from those two points this optic is a winner. You get value, durability, and a precision red dot from aimpoint, the first manufacturer who pretty much perfected the red dot system. Not to mention if you look at similar products from other manufacturers they do not have the track record that aimpoint has in regards to red dot sights. I would also like to mention swfa had a very reasonable shipping time and there price match guarantee is a dealbreaker for other websites that charge tax if you live in the state that they reside in or over inflate there shipping rates. In the end I enjoyed doing business with swfa and am extremely happy with the aimpoint red dot sight I purchased from them."
