"I would NEVER sell CDs through SecondSpin.com again. They are a complete ripoff!
I sold/sent them a whole group of CDs, based on the prices that they quoted on their website. I even received a confirmation email stating all of the CDs that I was selling, and the prices that they would pay for them. I sent the CDs out 2 days after.
Weeks later, I get an email with a check total and it is WAY under what they quoted! I called them and was told that while they did quote the original prices I was counting on, the UPCs in their system NOW aren't giving that price. So, when I was to get $10 for a CD set, they only gave me $2. This is on a few of them and is just WRONG! They should not be able to change their prices, AFTER I sent them my CDs! Then, they stold them from me!!!! They will not send them back!!!!
I would NEVER do business with them again and would advise anyone against conducting business with them also."
"I ordered a used DVD on 3/25, it got here on the east coast on 3/29. The DVD was packed well, in original jacket.
No issues, I would order from them again."
"I have ordered (not sold) CDs from Secondspin numerous times and have been very satisfied. It is one of only 5 online music retailers that I use."
"Please be aware if you are going to sell items to secondspin.com. I just sold some DVDs to them. According to their confirmation email the total should be $XX. I packed the items and mailed to them. I got a email after they received the DVDs, the DVDs passed their inspection, but the price in the email they sent me has now been changed to much lower, in my case, about 14% lower, and they did not give any reason for this in their email. It seems they can change the selling price on the fly and even after the sales agreement. I am sending email to the customer service and so far no reply yet. I am going to wait for some time and will see if I should report this to BBB if I still get no reply. I am not going to sell DVD/CDs to secondspin again, their "discount after the sales agreement" policy (if that is their policy) does not seem to be good business practice to me. "
"Bought from SecondSpin twice. Both times the CDs themselves came in excellent condition. I've had 2 or 3 (out of 8) cases cracked during shipping, however. Only complaint I have with the product is with the barcode stickers applied onto the jewel cases. They are extremely difficult to take off, usually just ripping and leaving paper glued to the cases.
The shipping was quick and the pricing is very good. The selection is much better than I expected, but not quite as good as I hoped. Only thing I would change (other than the packaging during shipping) is having SecondSpin give me a tracking number when they ship an order."
"Looking to Sell Your CDs?
If it sounds too good to be true, then it probably is. I've told myself this countless times, but it never seems to sink in. I recently decided to sell my 260+ CD collection and move to all digital music. I came across the Web site secondspin.com. They appeared to offer better buy-back pricing than all of their competitors. So I carefully cataloged my entire CD collection, and created a spreadsheet. I then went to the site and began entering my CD information. Immediately I noticed how archaic the user interface was for this site. (I should have taken this as a red flag.) I decided to just write down the prices on my spreadsheet, as it was much easier to do this than create a list on their Web site. After I completed, I sent the list to their sales department. Their reply informed me that I cannot use Web prices for a bulk order. Their bulk pricing is actually 10 to 20% less than Web prices. So I returned to their site, as I was forced to create a list online. It took me about 4 hours to complete, and was very slow and not at all user friendly. Once I finished, I packed up all my CDs very carefully and shipped them. A week later I received a reply that they would only accept 30 of my 260+ CDs. What!? I couldn't believe it. A complete waste of my time. Everyone knows that CDs scuff easily. 90% of scuffs never affect playability. The "strict quality control" they mention in the description on this site is NOT emphasized enough on secondspin.com. They state that CDs must be in "good" condition. My CDs were in good condition. I always took care of them and kept them in the jewel cases. And for the cherry on top - they lost one of my CD inserts and said it was "missing." Just perfect. I will sing displeasure on this site until the cows come home. And no, I will never do business with them again.

"On 3/13/2005 I visited the web site to place an order to sell 64 of my CDs. On 3/14/2005 I mailed my package at my own cost ($9) as instructed with a copy of my packing list. Order number #1071544 placed 3/13/2005
On 3/30/2005 I was contacted by the company via email to stated my order was cancelled and all CDs were to be returned to me.
On 3/13/2005 I placed an order to trade in 64 cds which the site offered me $178 for. I promptly shipped the CDs the following business at the cost of $9. On 3/30/2005 I received an email from ****@**** stating my entire order was rejected because the CDs were "promotional" and that they will be returned to me.
None of the CDs are marked promotional, or bear any reason to think they were promotional materials and I have the original receipt for the CDs that I purchased at another retail music CD site. What is even funnier is that some other user comments, and even SecondSpin's web site states they do accept CDs that are promotional with drill holes and sawed cases. All of my CDs are in perfect mint condition, no promo marks of any kind. Some CDs even still have the retail store stickers i.e. Tower Records $17.99. I can provide all receipts and documentation of the claim.
Needless to say, I was quite upset as a result of this and will never do business with SecondSpin again and encourage others to do the same."
" My experience with this company has been great. I order six CDs and they arived even earlier than I expected. All the CDs were in perfect condition (no scrathes or signs of wear). I also recieved all the cases and their booklets, three were even still in what appeared to be the original wrapping with the promotional stickers on telling what the feature tracks were...and this is a "used" CD store.
Great selection, good prices...also the shipping and handling was a reasonable rate( $4.60 for $56 purchase!). This was nice because I know a lot of other stores that advertise low prices ding you with really high shipping and sometimes an extra-crappy "service" charge...
When I checked resellerratings.com there were 3 ratings about secondspin.com and one of them was really crappy...something about scratched CDs and missing cases...I don't know if thats true or not but I was a little concerned, then I bought the stuff anyway because the price was so good. I don't regret it.
I recomned this site, but I hope no one else has a bad experience. If so, please email me at ****@****

"Havn't run into much problems, perhaps lack of selection at times..."
"I recently placed an order with Secondspin.com, and was EXTREMELY UNHAPPY with the results.
5 of the 6 cd's I ordered were scratched and marred. Now according to their policy of what you can sell to them all "discs must be in good shape without scratches". But apparently they dont feel that they should follow their own guidelines.
Also the cd's were sent with no jewel cases even though again their buy policy states "US & Canadian customers MUST include jewel cases". Again they do not follow their own policy.
When I e-mailed them to express my dissatisfaction with the order, the response I got was as follows"
"All of the CDs that we sell are used. We guarantee them to play but we do
not guarantee them to be in "mint" or "near-mint" condition. Acceptable
amounts of wear and signs of use include but are not limited to light
scratches that do not effect the play of the CD, small drill-marks, saw
marks, and punched bar-codes. We also do not differentiate between
BMG/Music Club items and general issue albums."
Even though none of these "conditions" are available anywhere on their website.
So now if I decide I no longer want these cd's at some point, I won't be able to sell them to anyone because of the deplorable condition they are in.
I don't know if the positive reviews are from people that just got lucky or if they have no concers for quality. But since 5 of the 6 cd's I ordered were unnacceptable, it seems to be a consistant quality problem.
But I would say BUYER BEWARE! If you are looking for quality cd's, DO NOT shop at secondspin.com."
"Have ordered from this company MANY times and will continue to order from them. Even though they're not tech related, they're worth noting for their excellent delivery time and easy-to-use website. I highly recommend them."
