"Seventh Avenue scammed me. After I did research on them I discovered they are old school phishing crooks. Like someone actually fishing in hopes of getting a bite, they are "phishing" for your social security number to steal your ID. This is how their scam works:
First, they do what’s called a soft inquiry on your credit report (probably using their Experian CSID account)) to ascertain your name and address. Then they take it upon themselves to open a fake “account” using just your name and address.
Next, they do one of two things:
1) They send you a statement for an item you did not order or they send you an item (usually a television shipped by FedEx). When you call to find out what’s going on, they say that “someone” has opened an “account” using your name, address, and social security number. It’s not true! Remember, unless you give them your social security number they don’t have it because they did a soft inquiry on your credit. A soft inquiry does not include your social security number. (Google the difference between a soft inquiry and a hard inquiry)
So now you are shocked! You tell them that the account is fraudulent so please close it. They say that the only way to close the account is to give them your personal information via online, by phone, or by filling out their so called "id/fraud report.” Don’t do it!! They are thieves.
2) They say that you have been pre-approved for credit. So you call them or go online, give them all your personal information, order something and pay for it. Guess what? They have successfully stolen your personal information. Now that they have your information and money either you never hear from them again or you never get your product. In a rare case you may actually get what you ordered. But, after you have paid for your order in full they continue to send you fake “past due” bills and/or continue to take money from your bank account.
My suggestion: Immediately review and put a fraud alert and/or freeze on your Equifax, Experian, and Transunion credit reports. Report the scam to the Better Business Bureau insisting that Seventh Avenue give you confirmation that the account they opened without your consent be closed immediately . Also report the scam to the Federal Trade Commission and your local police department. (Remember to tell the police not to divulge any of your personal information to Seventh Avenue during their investigation).
If you received an item, write down the tracking number located on the shipping label. Use your phone to video the item as proof that it was never opened. Then, send it back to Seventh Avenue by informing FedEx (or whoever shipped it) that the item was sent to you as an identity theft/fraud scam. FedEx will pick it up as a RTS (Return to Sender). Use the tracking number as proof that it was returned to Seventh Avenue. "
"Crooks! This seventh avenue appears to operate an in house "fraud department. An example scam: company buys mailing lists, then sets up fake in-house accounts using only limited mail list info like name & address, then process a fake purchase/ invoice, the "customer/victim" that never heard of them gets a bill in the mail... then either the the victim pays accidentally (ie: fake bills are usually a few hundred dollars, or victim calls in and is immediately forced into a "reporting third party identity theft" process. The ID theft forms and process are actually designed to complete their identity theft of your information. They will eventually insist you fill out their forms and disclose your social security number to them or continue to leave the account open with old and new "fake" purchases begin charged to you the victim... by the way, this company says they do not require social security number or bank info or similar in order to set up an in house credit account.. .."
"Sent me a credit limit of $400 and stated if I don't order I may not receive anymore brochures so I order and send it in, they send me an email stating that they need a size but the rest of my order is being shipped so I call the number given just to be informed that they will not ship my order until I pay over half the price of the entire order, bad business, poor customer service, they actually hung up on me when I asked for the order to be cancelled and to remove me from the mailing list. I don't how they've stayed in business so long. "
"Terrible ID protection. They allow ID theft, and make it extremely difficult to get a credit, and return products you don't order. They will destroy your credit for accounts you never opened. Someone used my info with an old phone number and fraudulent email address and ordered a TV. I nevee ordered it, and don't want it, and they haven't done anything except pile me up in paperwork to report it to the Police. No return label, no credit, and they won't close the account. "
"So I randomly received a catalog in the mail and was preaproved for 300 in credit. So I browsed the catalog and without thinking I selected a yellow 16gb 8 fire tablet. The price was 199.. I received a letter in the mail stating I would have to send them 74.99 and they would happily extend the rest as credit for me. Well I plugged Amazon 8 fire tablet in Google and the same exact tablet there selling for 199 is selling directly from Amazon for 49.99.. I don't know how they can charge 4 times the amount its ridiculous. Worse than a loan shark lol. If your looking for a good company Fingerhut has a fresh start program and there pricing is reasonable!"
"I purchased two sets of bath towels. Items were received promptly. I immediately washed the items and when they came out of the dryer the first set of towels was full of lint, hanging threads on the ends and generally reflective of poor quality. I called to return the towels--one set only. It took nearly three months for the credit to appear on my account, but the towels were $39.99/set and the end total for one set was $69.00. I called customer service because clearly that was not correct. The lady put me on hold and never came back to the call. So, I decided to not pay the bill until they called me and we could discuss it. That happened today. The guy spoke poor English and made no sense in what he told me. I was transferred to "customer service" where an extremely rude lady read me the account balance and as I was explaining my concerns to her, she hung up on me. So they can have the second set of towels now too.
Don't do business with this company. Their customer service is non-existent, the quality of merchandise is very poor, and the prices for sub-standard items are too high. As for Seventh Avenue, they are welcomed to kiss my ****..orted towel set."
"Called to get my mom's name off their mailing list, she is in a nursing home after a stroke. They insisted they had to speak with her which is NOT POSSIBLE. Then they wanted a copy of my power-of-attorney and her social security number!! I will NEVER give my personal information out just to stop receiving some useless junk catalog!! What kind of scam are they running anyway? I'm contacting the Better Business Bureau because this is the worst form of customer service."
"I had an account with 7th Avenue. I bought some things and appI reciated them. I got the account because I will be getting a different place to live and will not have furniture and furnishings when I move. I had planned to use 7th Avenue to purchase the things I would need. Recently, I got a letter from Experian telling me 7th Avenue had placed a report on my credit history saying that I owe them $113. I had paid off the account in full in May, 2018. I am currently waiting on a reply from 7th Avenue because I am protesting what they did. Protest is not a strong enough word!
I plan to keep the account open for a while because my rating will be affected--as though it's not being negatively affected now. As I write this, I will be closing the account--changed my mind. I don't need to deal with companies who lie and don't communicate when they think there is a problem. Obviously, their account process is not very good since my account was paid in full and someone thinks I owe money.
I'd think twice about dealing with this company if I wanted an account with them even though some of their products are over priced and neither good or lasting products.
"
"they are super rude, I purchased a furniture and a make the payment in time and I have all the screenshots that says thank you for your payment, then a receive a letter that says my account was severely past due "
"i seen some beautiful furniture on their site for a really good price, a chaise lounge and a sitting chair, i read the reviews and they were very positive about the furniture so i placed the order then i googled them and came across all these horrible reviews now im very nervous about getting ripped off or getting something i didn't even order to fill in for not having the piece i did ordered. i'll come back and let you know how it all worked out, gawd i hope it works out!
