"I probably made a big mistake. I found a Nikon D90 package for $409 on skypointdigital.com. The price was great, and I didn't think much of it. I had seen a reference for the website that said they sold used cameras. So I bought the camera and today I get the email that says to call to verify the order. The guy took my info and then slyly slipped in with "so which battery are you going with?". I immediately thought to myself that something just doesn't seem right. I told him I was looking around and he just said "oh". He then told me my order would arrive Thursday and said goodbye. Only AFTER did I find these reviews.

UPDATE : I received the infamous "oversold" email today. What a bunch of scumbags. Because I didn't buy the battery that was offered, my order was canceled. They tried to sell me a $15 battery for $150. Here is the full email.

"Unfortunately we are currently oversold on the item you have ordered, and it is currently on a backorder for 6-8 weeks. Therefore, your order has been canceled. Please note, your credit card has not been charged.

Your cancellation number is: SPD57829 The email address that you provided to us has been added to our "Notify List" and we will notify you as soon as the product becomes available.

"I to went through the ordering of the nikon d3000, only wanted the package on line. Thought it was great price. I was told to call and verify my order. they asked for the three digit number on back of my card, which I had already supplied on line. He also asked if I wanted the battery and charger, I stated no. The guy said, oh really? I should have known then by his tone. When I hung up, a few hours later I received an email that the item was back ordered for 6/8 weeks. I was going to call today and order one on the phone to see if it was really backordered as I felt they cancelled my item because I didn't order accessories. I went to look up their site and found this one. Thank GOD!! I hadn't called yet. I will not try to go through with the transaction. I just hope they really cancelled my order and my only concern, as with everyone else, is that they have my credit card information now and will they use it for something else. thank you for posting these reviews. It saved me a lot of aggravation. I hope someone will deal with the horrible company soon. SOmething needs to bo done to stop their shady dealings. "

"Wow, wish I would I have read these reviews before I ordered. I ordered a Canon 430EX II flash, great price, should have known. It was immediatly back ordered. But.......they had the digital version for $299. I called Canon and there is only one 430EX II. They also tried to move me to a more expensive "better" flash but I wanted the Canon. Calling them is a joke, your are put on hold or shuffled around. If you want to buy something they will happily help you but if you want to cancel something you go into limbo. Horrible experience and very frustrating. called my credit card company to warn them and get something on file with them because I am afraid that I have not heard the last of them. I will review this site before making anymore purchases online. Sky Point is based in NY and is actually a company called Bingo Cameras according to the Better Business Bureau. Only a couple of complaints, suprising. You can go to the BBB and file a complaint. I could not find a phone number for Bingo.

"After ordering a Canon SK1 IS for $409.00 I received a comformation where the total was exactly $409.OO and red flags went off. No state sales tax and no shipping charges??????? I called my bank and put a 30 day hold on the card I used for this purchase and forwarded the conformation of this sale which excluded my states sales tax to my state attorney general. The fact that taxes are not included in the total should be a alert that these guys are not on the up and up."

"I was scammed on the purchase of a Sony HD Camcorder- bait/switch to "better" filters, memory, batteries and so on. Price was low and should have been suspect. To make a long story short, the shipment never arrived, called UPS and tracked it, said they lost it. Called Skypoint, they confirmed it was lost and shipped another one. First shipment was found and delivered to my house. Called Skypoint to make arrangements to send the duplicate shipment back. They said it would be a 20% restocking fee!!! I insisted that I was being honest by returning a duplicate. They insisted on the 20% restocking fee .. Thanks to Skypoint I have two cameras and related equipment now. The FREEBIE ALERT stuff has never been shipped either. Every time I call they say 6 to 8 weeks, mdse is all back-ordered. False advertising and Fraud to say the least.

"I purchased the Canon T1i online with one of the too good to be true packages and it was. The items being sold with the camera will not support a pleasant experience with it. The customer service rep told me that it was not a retail version therefore the software is not included and not loaded on camera. He told me about a another camera that would be better for me and since I could not decide I would take both. He said that I could return the one I didn't want and it would be no problem. I was not online at the time, just on the phone. He did not have the common courtesy to state that there was a restocking fee of 10%. I WAS ON THE PHONE - NOT AT MY COMPUTER WHERE I COULD SEE THE POLICY AND KNOW MY OPTIONS. When I went to cancel the order he said that it was too late although it had not ship until 3 days later. I asked why was I not told and wouldn't he want someone to tell him of all of his options and a courtesy reminder about a restocking fee? There site says 100% Customer Satisfaction. THAT IS THE BIGGEST JOKE. The reps are VERY RUDE and will argue with you and talk to you like you are stupid and you did something wrong. When they are getting your money they are SOOOOOO KIND, when it comes time to do the right thing - FUGGETABOUTIT! I received the package, which was shipped to the wrong address and called to get a RA number. I was on hold for so long and transferred so many times that the returns department was conveniently closed when I got to the third person. Why didn't the first person tell me. Why did I sit on hold for so long? When I got to the last person, he was so smug and such a smartass about the whole situation. I have never filed a complaint or review for anything - EVER! SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DO NOT TRUST THESE SCAM ARTISTS. DO NOT OVERLOOK ALL OF THESE BAD REVIEWS ABOUT THIS COMPANY. WHY TAKE THE RISK. BUYER BEWARE AND RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN."

"I know better! That's why I'm so embarrassed that I actually fell for their "too good to be true" price on a camera that I needed for an upcoming trip. The moment that I pressed enter on the order form I got a bad feeling, so, since it was after store hours I had to wait until the next morning to call. First call got hung up on. Second call, terminal hold. Third call, "Murph" told me that the camera was on backorder for 6 weeks. I requested that my order be cancelled and he said that would be no problem. Too soon to know if they'll actually charge my credit card. BUYER BEWARE!!!"

"I ordered a Canon SD780IS camera for $124. I thought it strange I did not get any confirmation E-Mail. When I went to My Account, I saw that it included 1 item for $124. A week later, I found this site with reviews regarding their service. On Jan. 31, still no camera, I called and was told politely that they tried to contact me and tell me the item was no longer stocked and would I like to upgrade to another camera. I asked to cancel my order, they agreed, saying it had not been placed yet. A few minutes later, I checked my account and the $124 item was gone. ABSOLUTELY bait and switch. The camera I ordered is still being advertised for sale at the same price! I am only glad I didn't get as far involved as others have with this company"

"Same story as many of the above. I ordered a camera. They asked me to call to confirm my order. When I did they asked what kind of battery I wanted to buy. When I said I didn't, they said O.K. but then proceeded to cancel my order the next day. They claimed they oversold that particular item. In fairness, they were generally polite, but it's obviously a bait and switch scam. "

"The worst! I made an purchase with these clowns - then researched them - shame on me. Anyhow, after reading the posts below I was ready for the impending email/phone call. The call went just like the others have noted below. So knowing what was coming I let them play it out a bit then informed the 'gentleman' on the phone I needed to record the remainder of the conversation as I believe they are a scam business. There was no further talking from their end of the line - just a hang up. How this place can still be in business is beyond me! I did find out their location in NY if anyone wants to send Luigi over

"Doing bad business!!!I ordered one camera. The guy called me the next day and pushed on me a different model saying that what I ordered is bad quality and plastic from China. And that I need to purchase a different model with the cheapest lense. I could of got a much better deal thru another company or even ebay! They are doing bad, unprofessiional business! Scammers!"

"I have debated writing this review after seeing so many bad reviews. I however had a more positive experience dealing with SkyPoint Digital than those that have published here. I was not aware of the hustle they put on their customers until I found this review site.
I purchased the Canon T1i Rebel with the Sigma lenses and yes like many others reported I was upsold on much more than I originally ordered. I wanted the Canon lenses however the gentleman sold me on the Sigma for more money. In hind sight I see what the deal was; I would have most likely been a customer with the "back order" issue had I not purchased what I did.
I must say though, I received excellent customer service when speaking to "Chris" and my camera arrived exactly when he said it would. I also bought a camera bag which is not listed on their website, the person told me I would be pleased with the bag and if not I could return it no questions asked. The bag came and it was a Vivitar Professional, he sold it to me for a very reasonablle price and he even paid the 3 day shipping.
I tried calling today to order another camera and unfortunately I ran into the backorder issue since I would not bite on the upgrade. I'd have to say the company plan is offer the cameras at a price they have no intention selling at and work on the upsale. I have no idea how many they actually sell but they truly have a golden opportunity to make a great business if they would just come clean.
I'd like to know if anybody has had any credit card information compromised after dealing with this company. I'm considering having my card changed, I just don't know how far they will go.
I really wanted to like thses guys, but I fear my dealings are done.

IN FAIRNESS THIS IS WHAT I KNOW TO BE TRUE:

The price I paid for my Canon Rebel T1i and accessories was more than fair.

The company did what they said they were going to do. I ordered on the 21st and my package was here on Christmas Eve and they paid the shipping.

Everything was "NEW", never opened and in perfect working order.

I received the entire package, no additional cost for charger, battery, software or cables, it was all there. (Thank GOD)

I was able to register everything with Canon and had no issues.

I did have issues with 2 salesmen until I spoke to "Chris", he said he was a manager and I suspect he was.

I was hung up on once and I was put on terminal hold as reported by others.

Today, 12-28-09 I tried to buy the EOS 50D and was unsuccessful.
