"I placed an order for a set of Alpine SPX-17PRO speakers, as well as a pair of Alpine SPR-69C speakers.
They sat in my room for 2 weeks after they were shipped to me, as I had to wait for my installer to have an opening for me to come down and get them installed.
After being installed they sounded great for one week, until the SPX-17PRO's blew out. I called in and they tell me they'll take it up with their warranty department and send me an email within 48 hours.
Well, not but a few hours after calling them about the 17PRO's blowing out, the SPR-69C's blow out as well!
Mind you, both sets of speaker are rated for 100rms, 300 peak, and I'm only using an alpine pdx 4.100 amp with the gain turned down, the speakers aren't seeing more then 50-70watts!
I spoke with my installer who double checked everything, and agreed that there was no way that this should have been possible.
I called them up a second time, and got the same "it's been more then 30 days, so the best we can do is have you pay to ship it back to us and then we'll fix it in up to 8 weeks" speech. The guy on the phone did said that yes it wasn't fair and that he would talk to his supervisor and give me an email back... no email.
Now, more then a week after everything's been blown and I have no music in my car, I called in a third time to say I had not received an email, and the guy told me that "we treat everyone the same" and that I'd just have to pay to have the speakers shipped back and wait "up to 8 weeks" to get them back.
At this point I just want to return these blasted speakers and get my money back (which I'm looking into with my credit card company). Of course, it's "past the 30 days" so guess what, no returns.
Their solution involves me having to pay to ship all of these speakers (not cheep to begin with) back to them, wait "up to 8 weeks" and at the end of it all I'll have two pairs of "refurbished" speakers, when I paid for brand new.

Spoke to my credit card company, they're sending me a form, then they're going to start taking care of it on their end.

Still no word from sonic, but my installer has started telling his customers to avoid this company like the plague.

Received a call and an email from a supervisor at sonic explaining that the associate's I spoke to were misinformed about the speakers warranty, and that they will be replaced with brand new speakers. They are paying to have the speakers sent back to them, at which point they are going to replace them. They told me they didn't have the 17PRO's left in stock, but that they would order them now so that they would have them before the speakers I'm returning got back to them. So far, so good."
