"I ordered a PDA, the promised shipping was delayed one week without notice; after this time I cancelled my order and but got it two days later! The item they sent was not working properly and I had a lot of hassle to return it. Finally (7 weeks later) I got my money back. I recommend to buy somewhere else, e.g at Newegg.com "
"I bought a Vaio laptop in Japan, it made this weird beeping noise once every day or so. I told Sony about it but was not that big of a problem so I decided to ignore it.
14 month later, one of my memory slot stoped recognizing my RAM. I was going to Japan in 2 month so I called Sony, and requested a repair. I told them that I would pay for the repair since, it is way out of guranteed period. And I don't live in Japan, which should have voided the warrenty already.
But they said, no problem since I called them before for a different matter; they will fix both problems for free. Delivery service came to pick it up the next day, and I got the laptop back(They actually FIXED the machine instead of giving me a new one.)in 10 days. They didn't charge me ANYTHING."
"Quick delivery, easy shipping. Bought a TRV350 camcorder and am quite pleased with the whole purchasing process"
"Awlful Experience. Good products but people selling the products are casual and unprofessional . "
"Ordered a tripod from them using a $20 coupon given for filling out a marketing survey. Noticed shipping cost was listed at $.01 I got a confirmation e mail with a FedEx number on the 19th. They shipped it on Dec 20 Japanese time & it arrived on Dec 20 Kansas time. Best shipping I've ever had for a penny."
"Fast Shipping.

"If you KNOW all about the Sony item you are buying, you can't do better than Sony Style. Sure, you pay retail, but many items are Factory Direct (I like that), and only 1 cent shipping! And my 3 separate purchases each made it to Michigan (USA) from Tokyo (Japan) in only 2-3 days! For 1 cent shipping!
However, and as unlikely as it seems, Sony Style's listings for Sony products can be highly inaccurate. I bought a RM-DR1 remote for my MVC-CD400, and the Sony Style advertises this unit as having the ability to control shutter speed on the camera. NO! It features power on/off, zoom, and shutter release controls only.
Also, I purchased a Sony HVL-F1000 flash, which Sony Style says supports TTL (Through-The-Lens) metering. NO! It self-meters via an old-fashioned thyristor sensor on the face of the flash. Reasonably accurate metering, provided the flash is mounted on top of the camera and the sensor is pointing at the subject, but definitely NOT TTL as advertised.
So, if you KNOW what you are buying, Sony Style is a legitimate business to deal with. Just don't rely on their item descriptions in doing your pre-purchase research.
And 1 cent FedEx Priority shipping from Tokyo to Michigan in only 2-3 days!"

"My experience with sony style has been AWFUL. I found a 27" TV I wanted and it was a good deal w/ free shipping. So I bought the TV. 4 days later it showed up and the top two corners were dented badly. So I had the TV for a week while they mailed me a return label. Shiped the old one back and a week later the new one arrives. Of course I miss the shipment so I take off work and drive to the FedEx site. I inspect the TV best I can on site and take it home. Upon unpacking the TV I discover the bottom left corner is badly cracked. I call customer service again and complain and they tell me they will ship another return label. Unacceptable, so I talk to the "manager" and he can do nothing for me. The "protocol" is set by coporate HQ and they have no phones there apparently. The only recource is a mail-in complaint dept. So I returned the TV to fedex the same day and they agreed to return it for me. I hardly think FedEx is to blame. Their idea of packaging for 110 lb TV is a few styrafoam corners. In both deleviries the foam was cracked.
In summary sonystyle customer service stinks. Perhaps if you buy somthing small you will have an okay experience. Just don't buy anything heavy, it will break and you will waste much of your personal time."
"I have just completed an order with sonystyle.com. The product had to be shipped from fatory, which is located in Tokyo, Japan. They only charge 4.6 USD for Fedex overnight shipping to USA! Can't beat that. The product arrove sound and problem free. Excellent first purchase from sonystyle.com."
"First order from SonyStyle. Wasn't much of an order, a light for my DV camcorder, but overall a very good experience. Shipped fast and received within a few days. "
"First, my on-line purchasing experience with Sony was perfect. I ordered a 21" FD Trinitron monitor from them, was pleased to note that due to Sony's obvious purchasing power with Fed Ex my overnight shipping from coast-to-coast was but $37, whereas the 2-day air was $36. Naturally I selected the overnight rate.
I ordered on Monday, my order was processed on Tuesday, and I received the monitor on Wednesday morning. On Tuesday, Sony emailed me my order confirmation along with an order number with which I could check shipping status directly from their site. It was sort of funny, but I had already received and was using my new monitor when I got an email from Sony informing me that my product had been shipped! It was as smooth and as perfect a transaction as I could imagine in every respect. Highly recommended. Never had to talk with a human being at all--not that that would have been bad, of course. It just shows how good their system is, I think.
Secondly, I noticed that few of the comments I read under the Sony reseller site before posting here have to do with on-line purchasing--but rather with various people's problems with tech-support and Sony products in general.
This posting is specifically for people who wish to know about my on-line purchasing experience with Sony, and nothing else. The monitor is every bit as good as I expected and comes with a three-year parts & labor warranty. I looked several places on the Interenet for this monitor, and none were offering it for less than Sony direct. The build date on the back of the the monitor was February 2002, which is means this monitoring hadn't been languishing on some retailer's shelf for several months.
Again, the on-line buying experience with Sony could not have been any better. Frankly I wish the moderators of this site would remove the posts under Sony which have to do with matters other than the on-line buying experience, as the presence of this information is somewhat confusing. Evidently people don't quite understand that there is a difference between liking the product you buy, or getting tech support for that product, and your experience in actually purchasing the product on-line.

"Tried to use "disclaimer clause" when caught with their pants down on a matter completely within their control."
"terrible experience when I bought a camcorder from sony.com directly.
They will make you feel you made a mistake of life. The whole process couldn't be worse.
One word: stink"
"Sony products seem to have some decent quality standard. However, I cannot say the same for the customer service side of the business.
My job involves extensive computer hardware services. Dealing with Sony tech support and other customer serices usually yield only one result: FRUSTRATION. The tech support rep have the ability to take product registration and that's all they seem to have the capability to do. Rudeness tend to be the compensation for their deep level of INcompetence.
In one occasion, I asked a customer service rep at accessories dept not to keep calling 'sir' in such irritating way. Her immediate response was "Okay, sonnie... what do you want?".The she immediately hung up the phone. Sony was unable to 'locate' that person, needless to say.
I hope that Sony executives read this posting and try to look into what kind of image they are projecting through poor customer relations."
