"DO NOT buy from SonyStyle.com
I placed an order on 2/19/06 and today is 2/25/06 and I don't have the product on my hands nor any updated email telling me about the shipping date. The order status still showing "Ready for Shipment"
DO NOT buy from this store. You could find the same or better prices on the net with better customer support and/or fast delivery."
"I tryed to buy a computer at sony style, but i needed it for a certain date, and the dates they provided me when made my order, moved further away, the customer "online" service is awful you send an email and wait one bussiness day for an answer, I called them to try to at least change my shipping method, but the guy said that once you place an order, the absolute one thing that can change is the dates they give you, that can be pushed further and further away."
"I had read reviews of Sony on this website before but stupidly I still went ahead and ordered a Sony Vaio S580 laptop because of its looks. The issues began immediately, the order was shipped late even though the website said it was "in stock". A customer service representative told me "in stock" doesn't really mean that parts will be in stock when they start assembling the computer! What is the point of saying so then? The laptop finally arrived and within one day of operation it locked up, refused to boot and gave the message "Hard drive not found"!! The build of the computer was also not very good with a rattling battery and cheap wifi switch that looked like someone had just tacked it on. I returned the laptop the very next day and guess who has to pay for shipping? Me. They sell you a defective product and you have to pay to return it to them. Now they are telling me they will take 8 weeks to refund me. I will be out nearly $1300 during this time and of course lose the return shipping cost of $50.
Please do not make the same mistake I made. I have found to my loss that the Sony brand name of the past has no meaning anymore. Now they make flimsy, low-quality products and aggravate customers by their unethical sales practises. There are many better companies out there for all sorts of electronic products, you don't have to allow yourself to be abused in this way."
"Sony Style clearly advertised 2 rebates as being valid for the DRU-720A dvdrw on that product's order page. I ordered in good confidence that Sony would fulfill what it had advertised as part of the purchase price of this drive. 2 months later I got a postcard saying that one of the rebates was invalidated. I called sony rebates and the csr "jason" told me that he was aware that Sony Style had advertised the 2 rebates and that they would validate the rebate. I still had not recieved the rebate by January so I called Sony rebates again and they stated that they had escalated the matter and could not validate the rebate despite what they termed an "error on Sony Style's part". I contacted Sony Style and they basically told me that advertising 2 rebates was a mistake on their part, but I would be out my money. They offer rebates and then do not pay and leave you with no recourse. "
"Ordering on the site was fairly easy, however the shipment was made UPS ground signature required. I could not sign the door tag (had to accept in person), and when I did receive it the package had a note on it that it could not be held for pick up. If like me, you work during the day and don't want to take a day off to wait for the FedEx guy, you might not get your package.
Sony does not outline this policy anywhere that I saw while ordering from their site. I buy consumer electronics online all the time, and wasn't expecting this so it made it much more of a hassle to be able to get my package. Since this is not standard shipping behavior (In my experience I can always either sign or hold for pickup), they should outline this difference.
If I had been unlucky my laptop would have been returned to sony, and reading other people's reviews that could be been a nightmare."
"Will never again buy from Sony Style. I believe it is a fraud. bought a 19" monitor, total invoice:$635.99, it was never delivered for unknown reasons (FedEx arrived to this state but never arrived to my address) They accept that they received back the monitor but by today December 9 I do not have my money back or the charge oif my credit card reversed. Asked them to re-send the monitor and they do not accept that. Have to pay for another one. They say payment will be reimbursed in 7 to 10 working days. By today it is over one month and nothing. "
"Just a note: SonyStyle.com will not, under *any* circumstances cancel your order after you place it for you. You will have to apply for a refund to get your money back.
I ordered a Sony VAIO Media Center Desktop computer for Christmas last year. I found a better deal/offer for another model, so I had to return the one I originally purchased and order the second model from them. They refunded my money to my bank account within days. I didn't have any problem with getting my rebates from their partner companies either.
They ship their products in a timely manner and packed well. The desktop computer works great and I love it. I also made an order in Fall 2003 for a Sony Cybershot camera, and I had absolutely no problems with that order. Sony is a high-quality company, and I'd order from SonyStyle.com again in the future."
"Horrible customer service. Order was cancelled without emailing me or anything. I was waiting on a much needed burner and it never came. I will never shop there again."
"Ordered on the 19th. Arrived on the 31st. Easy purchase. The item was on sale so the price was somewhat decent, much better then their normal prices that are outragous, but then again it IS Sony, so it is to be expect. My only gripe is that it took to long to ship."
"I am an engineering student in college and wasted way too much money on a vaio laptop. after a year it is going in for repair for what should be a third time, i fixed it myself once. it took 2 weeks to get them to send a box. within a week of its first repair it was still shuting down by itself, if they tested it they would have known they didn't fix the issue. dont waste your time or money."
"ordered a cd/mp3 walkman from sonystyle.ca and so far so good. I havnt recieved the item yet, but they shipped it out next day.
they also answered all my questions within 24hours.
the prices were decent. They offered a 20$ off coupon for orders over 49.99 so i ended up paying 68 bucks after tax.
they also have free shipping on orders over 24.99 which is nice and they ship it via Purolator which is a very good shipping company here in Canada."
"I bought a Sony digital camera from Sony website.
I paid the highest retail expecting good service.
The purchase came with a $55 rebate, after sending
in the rebate forms, I never heard from them.
I contacted them 3 months after the purchase.
First they gave me a lot of non working phone numbers, then, when I finally reached someone, I
was told to wait as it could take several months.
Now I am told the rebate offer is closed.
If you want to pay the highest price for a Sony
product and don't expect any service, that's where
to go. I will never shop at sonystyle.com again."
"So far Sony has given me the wrong tracking number and they shipped my Package 6 to 8 day ground instead of the agreed upon 3 to 5 day mail. I thought I might be able to slip through the cracks with this company and at least get my order on time. Nice going, Sonystyle. I should have just listened to all of these posts. I didn't think it could happen to me, but now I am on the "I TOLD YOU SO" list. I feel so suckered...."
"NEVER, NEVER, NEVER EVER place an order with Sony Style.com. If you do, you will SORELY REGRET it. Here is my story:
Our cheap old PC was on the fritz, so my wife & I decided to purchase a high end model this time, from a reputable company. And who better than Sony, right? WRONG. We placed a $2500 order in late November, expecting to have it well in time for Christmas. WRONG. Although the computer appeared in stock on Sony's site, it came up "out of stock" after we ordered. It took multiple phone calls to their customer service dep't to resolve the issue, and each time we got a different story. Sony is completely inflexible about orders and refuses to change anything once an order's placed (so when they told me the monitor was out of stock, I couldn't just change this to another model--although the next time I called it wasn't the monitor but another part. I finally figured out they were just way behind on orders and stalling.)
Anyway, this was bad enough, but we finally-- after threatening to cancel the order if it didn't come by Christmas--got the PC on 12/23. Happy celebration for about half an hour, because after setting the computer up, IT DIDN'T WORK. The computer continually crashed, and finally wouldn't even turn on. I called Sony's technical support line and they were amazed themselves at their own incompetance. They had me take the PC apart for about half an hour, removing and plugging in memory chips etc. Nothing fixed it, and I also noticed as I took the computer apart that one of the screws was missing from the back. So either they sent me a refurbished model or one poorly put together. Finally they offered to have someone come and fix it. I accepted at first, but after thinking about it, and hearing they couldn't send anyone for 6 days, I decided to send the thing back.
Now, guess who had to pay for return shipping? If you think Sony covers their own errors or feels apologetic about sending defective merchandise after making people wait a month to get it, think again. I had to put out about $100 for shipping, and spent hours on the phone with them, doing set up, take apart, repacking everything and carrying these massive boxes for return shipping. To top all this off, they took about 8 weeks to refund my account, so I was out $2500 in the red for all that time, which isn't pleasant either.
In sum, in my experience with Sony, I lost $100 and hours of my life to aggravation and bad feelings. Sony Style showed no apologetic attitude for their defective merchandise and turtle slow movement, and even continue to send me spam. As if I would ever buy anything from these creeps again.
If you are a masochist who enjoys being abused, then by all means go ahead and place your order with Sony Style. You'll love the experience like needles and rubbing alcohol. If not, avoid them like plague.

"I stupidly placed an order with Sony Style website after getting my Sony camcorder as a gift - I shopped around a little (not enough) but didn't see all the accessories I wanted in one place, plus I got a 20% coupon from Sony Style with the camcorder so I thought, "why not?" Here's why not. -
Ordering itself is laborious. Their site is slow! I order a lot of stuff from a lot of places, and it's SLOW. And awkward. Order finally gets placed, I upgrade to 2 days shipping, and the order doesn't ship for 3 business days, even though it's in stock. Why?
Then it finally comes, Fedex, signature required. I leave a nice note to Fedex about how it's really me, and I release them of all liability, and he can just leave it at the door or with my neighbor (he left a box from another site that day!) and he leaves another note that he can't - shipper's orders.
I called Sony this morning and they said they refuse to ship without requiring a signature of the purchaser (not a neighbor). They said "it's always that way" - otherwise they "lose too much merchandise". They were quite rude.
I told them how much they suck and how they should put a giant disclaimer on their web site should someone actually order something. I told them to enjoy getting their order back from Fedex.
Then I found the exact 4 items on Amazon, all in stock, for $37 less for the total order, free shipping (Sony was not) and no tax (Sony charged sales tax). That order took less than 3 minutes start to finish. The Sony order took forever to place.
I'm such an idiot. Why didn't I do that to begin with?
Unless you MUST, I cannot in good faither recommend Sony Style over ANY other reputable retailer. They just don't get it.
Online ordering is about convenience. If I sat at home all $% day to wait for their package, I couldn't afford to order their full bloat retail priced products! And I'd grow old waiting for it to begin with. "
