Bait and switch!

"I ordered 4 tree stand climbing stick combo's they had listed for $27.99 from Sportsman's Guide Amazon store. (Too good to be true?...YOU KNOW IT). When I received the shipment they had changed my order to ratchet straps! After multiple contacts with their customer service and providing proof of my Amazon order, they refused to send me what I ordered. Their customer service said that Amazon screwed up the listing and it was their fault. They actually changed the price on the item as I was on hold while Amazon was contacting them. Thank god Amazon made them return the ratchet straps. Very bad customer service! Sportsman's Guide lied to me and to Amazon about how they knowingly changed the order I made.
Still waiting for them to credit the money back to my card!

Great experience! Helpful customer service, good 1st time shopper coupon and free shipping on Yeti Cooler!

"I came online to check Sportsmans Guide's reviews after I'd already made a purchase since the deal seemed it might be too good to be true! That concern grew when I saw the horrible rating/reviews but since I'd already ordered (during non business hours) there wasn't much I could do at that point, so I hoped for the best. Long story short.... I had an excellent experience! I purchased a Yeti cooler (in a size/color that was hard to find, and when I did, it was priced almost $100 more than here!) and was able to use a $50 off for first time shoppers coupon and in addition got free shipping! In fact, in anticipation of the hurricane I upgraded the free shipping to 2nd day air for only $15 more. Since I ordered it late on a Sunday night (when they were closed) and needed it before I could leave town, I called customer service first thing the next morning to make sure I would get it 2 air day as requested. The rep I spoke with put me on hold so he could contact the dept responsible for shipping, when he came back to the phone he assured me it would go out that same day. When I called again the following day to check the status (again skeptical based on the bad reviews) I was told the 1st rep had made several notes on the acct/contacted the vendor and yes, it would go out as expected. Shortly after I received a text w/ a tracking number and I was able to track it to my door. It arrived on time, as promised! Excellent experience all around! "

"ordered a gun belt, two weeks to ship??? i should have paid for the faster shipping, i dont know any company that ships this slow. ive received items from china faster. dont opt for the free shipping. "

Pay A Few Dollars Extra

"Saved $30 on a gauntlet pcp rifle. First package was a garden umbrella!!!! Customer service was handling the return, and new shipment. Went to confirm with manager so put me on hold. New person picked up not knowing who I was, and said they would handle things. Watched as they fedex packaged me.... two pcp rifles. After two days tracking they recalled one. Rifle finally arrives today. Hard to see the scratches but looks like someone sprayed it flat paint to touch it up over a scratched area of about an inch. Should have paid the few dollars more and stayed with the pros. Be warned."

Poor service from them

"I tried to order some blind chairs and my debit card would not go through! ( it works fine every where else ). Tried 3 times. I put in my wife's credit card and they took it. I did this on Monday and sent them an email as to where was my order on friday as I got no notice of any kind from them. On sunday I got an answer from them and to call. I did and the billing dept, was not in on weekends! I call them monday morning and they said the address did not match the card. I read it back to them again and they said that is whats there. I gave up and cancelled the order because of them screwing up and no contact for a week!"

Can’t get a tracking number

"I ordered a wood heater for my shed. It’s been several days since my order. I buy a lot of stuff online, and always get a tracking number so I can see where and when to expect my package. I called sportsman guide 3 times and no one can give me a tracking number. So I have no idea where my order is or when to expect it. It will definitely be the last time I buy anything from this company again!"

****!!!!!!

"Ordered 2 pair of Wrangler jeans and the 3rd was free. Ended up being charged 3 different times for it all different amounts!!! $100.46 $95.96 92.36 . This BS over charged my account and they arent doing a damn thing about it!!!! I am through with these clowns. Taking this to Legal actions now. This wasnt rhe only time they've screwed my orders up. And I have spent a lot of money with them... "

Horrible customer service for a returning customer - missing parts

"First off, let me start out that I am not a first time customer. Last year I bought the swiveling tripod stand and was pleased with the product. This time I ordered the cheaper tripod, and although it does not seem very sturdy, the stand overall is okay. HOWEVER...delivery was a joke -- FedEx threw both boxes in my front yard (I have a big front porch with full access). The boxes were ripped and torn. About 2 hours after I received my thrown boxes, FedEx came back delivering ONE piece that must have fell out in the truck. I contacted customer service about this and had to go back ad forth just to receive a refund for the shipping. Now that's fine BUT when I finally got around to putting this stand together, there was missing pieces and the holes did not line up so I had to use a drill to fix that. I contacted customer service about this and they want to send me all around the world to file a claim with another company. I should not have to contact this person and that person. When you purchase something from a company with item details and promises of good customer service...that is what you should get. How about you work on making me happy instead of emailing back and forth over and over with your "if i can assist you further, please let us know" YES assist me with a discount OR you file the claim and send me the pieces missing.

I will NEVER order through this company again..BULLSH**
When you spend good money over and over, you should be treated better.

Mixed experiences, but still on the positive side

"POSITIVE:

Good selection of unusual items, reasonably priced
Great returns policy
Fast order fulfillment and shipment, even at economy rates (of course I live in a neighboring state)
Responsive to e-mail customer service inquiries
Order and shipping status promptly and accurately updated

NEGATIVE:

Rude customer service and credit phone employees
Problems with unusable foreign and US military surplus (coats without buttons, inaccurate sizing, funny smells); (storage chests that could not be opened), foreign military surplus is frequently mislabeled as to country of origin. The problem of defective items is largely alleviated by the very responsible returns policy, noted above
Negative product reviews are frequently removed

As far as I am concerned, the experiential balance still is very much in favor of SG.

Of course, many of the negative experiences of other customers appear to pertain to ammo and weapons, items which I don't purchase

Poor quality product

"I purchased 800 rds of Hirtenberger 308 ammo because I had good experience with 8mm Mauser ammo I purchased from another vendor. I packed up all my bags and shooting gear, and I drove 45 miles to the range, and I set up to shoot and found only one of ten rounds would fire. My new M1A fired all USA ammo 100%. Called SG and listened to the mantra, but "Ammo is not returnable." not, "I'm sorry but, I (mantra again like a guru from hell,"....... not returnable". How about a partial refund, "..... not returnable little grasshopper." But buy and take your chances. No thanks SG. "

Yeti against the NRA

"How can a business like Sportsman's Guide sell products from Yeti when the latter turned against the NRA? It is a slap in the face to SG's customers who support the NRA , which is probably most of them. I have been a loyal customer and card carrier for years. If SG continues dealing with Yeti, they will be lossing me as a customer sooner than later."

Refund is a rip off

"They sent me an item with incorrect hardware that didn’t fit the holes in the product so a defective item. When I returned it, the only credited me the original amount, not the shipping so spent almost $10 for nothing. It’s not like I just didn’t want it, it was clearly their fault but I paid the price..."

They are Thieves and lire’s

"The first time I ever ordered from them they sent me a pair of defective boots which I returned they only sent a partial refund so I called customer service again and was promised a full refund in 24 to 48 hours after checking my account every day for 10 days not only did I not receive the balance of the refund but they had fraudulently enrolled me I there CLUB with out my authorization. Me my bank and there representive on a three way recoded call my bank and I were told that by the end of the business day they would release the hold on the $39.99 unauthorized membership change as well as making me whole for the balance due on the return of the boots . None of this happened they took the $39.99 and did not make good on the balance due to me on the return after promiseing to do so on a recorded call between them my bank and myself , they are criminals this is a criminal act of overt fraud. RUN FROM THEM as though your hair was on fire "
