"I ordered an Epson printer off the Staples web site and the order indicated a ship date about 4 days out. When I checked the status of the order online it appeared that the date was not progressing fast enough to meet the expected ship date, but I was pleasantly surprised when it arrived on schedule. Normally, I will blast a company for poor service, and I did notice many unfavorable reviews for Staples, but my experience was excellent. Based upon my experience I would have to give them a very positive rating. "

"Staples canceled my order without even telling me. I found out when I tried to track my order online. No email or notification received!

Likeacoupon.com had a coupon from Staples that was $15 off, but I guess Staples decided without telling anyone that they decided the coupon wasn't valid anymore. It's not the customer's fault that you decided not to honor the coupon code! I don't think I will be shopping at Staples ever again, and I will be telling my friends not to, either. Very poor customer service.

"Placed two separate orders using discount codes for orders over $15 and orders over $10 only check the status of them today to find out they have both been cancelled. I received order confirmation emails when the orders were placed but received nothing to explain the cancellation. Went online to find out that all orders using the discount codes were cancelled because Staples "intended" the discount only for two specific items, here is a snip of the email posted on a consumer website from staples:

"...these coupons were widely redeemed on items other than what they were advertised for. As a result, orders containing these coupons have been cancelled. If your order was for these Avery labels, please contact us at the number below and we will replace your order at the advertised price."

Not only could Staples not limit the coupons to the "intended" items in their ordering system they could not even take the time to check the orders to see if they actually contained the "intended" items before cancelling them! Even people who ordered the "correct" items (as if consumers could tell) now had to call them to "replace" their orders!

A total failure by Staples who apparently has an online ordering system from 1994, only to attempt to silently sweep their incompetence under the rug.

Thanks Staples for making me and family Office Depot customers for life.

"Staples charged my credit card then cancelled my order. I also hate how they allow order to go through even though the item is out of stock or a coupon code is not valid. But once I go into my account, the coupon is gone but they'll still charge me the full amount. That is just stupid! I'd have to waste my time calling customer service to cancel my order. Very annoying and time consuming! Stay away from Staples!!!"

"Staples is by far the worst place to buy office goods. Even after my order had been cancelled, there was not even an email regarding my cancellation. I've previously viewed Staples as a stable office supply store but their business method has once proven faulty. "

"BEWARE WITH THE SO-CALLED 'EASY REBATE!'

You hardly get what you are supposed to get!


I purchased the camera from staples.com as the advertisement said "Get a Free 8GB SDHC memory card after easy rebate".

I did my rebate online at staples.com and I got a "$10 Visa Prepaid Card on a 8GB SDHC memory card" instead of memory card itself.

I talked to the customer representative Sarah Panchuk and sent her an email as requested by her, attaching the print screen image of the offer I have.

She later called back and said, that offer only valid while supply last. I am really upset and feel cheated.

Firstly, if there is no more SD card in stock to be given out free, Staples should remove the advertisement.

Secondly, in the advertisement itself, it does not say that it's only valid while supply lasts. Thirdly, it is hilarious to know that SD card would be out of stock in a big corporation like Staples.

I would have bought the same product with other companies but I chose Staples since they were giving out free 8GB SDHC memory card after easy rebate.

I have the print screen image here as proof and I am totally disappointed with the business I gave to Staples.

SHAME OF YOU, staples! No more business from me. I should have read the reviews here before I placed my order. Another guy here who had also written the review, faced the EXACT SAME PROBLEM with me.

"I ordered a camera, and at the time of ordering, there was an offer of a free Sandisk 8gb SD card with any camera purchased (over $79.99). I received the picked up the camera last night at the local Staples store and the SD card was not in there. The Assistant Manager verified that I was supposed to get an SD card with the camera, but that Staples.com must give me one or at least pay for it from him. He got on the phone with Staples.com and they asked if he carried the card in his store and how much it was. He priced it to them at $29.99 plus tax, and they balked at that price so he could not give me the SD card I was supposed to get. Please help me. I would have went to the store (or somewhere else) if I would have known this was going to be such a big problem. I called last night, but the lady kept me on hold forever and then tried to say that it was "in store only". Two different stories from Staples employees. This does not look like Staples cares about its' customers. There are many other places to buy things that do care."

"Extremely poor customer service. Ordered a hard drive online and they claim it was "delivered". They even managed to get a fake signature but conveniently "cannot read" what the name is. Called and spent an hour going from person to person with no help and they refuse to refund the purchase. This has happened previously with a printer I ordered and I foolishly asked them to re-order it when they said it was lost, and I ended up being charged twice. So this time I asked for a refund and they refused. I will need to take it up with my credit card company AGAIN! Never by anything more expensive than a staple from this company!"

"Warning! Warning! Warning!


Staples "Easy rebate" system can easily lead you to a phishing site, that is what happened to me. Concerned, I called and asked for fraud prevention, but the fellow was NOT interested.

I called my local store, that I enjoy greatly, and asked for a manager, he may be able to resolve this, we shall see.

Staples has an obligation to shut down phishing sites if a common spelling error leads a person to an illegal phishing site. To not do so is to aid and abet fraud and show callous disregard to customers. I am shocked at my inability to get this taken seriously.

Note: I kept a page of all interactions showing the path that led to the phishing action and offered that to them and will do so if questioned.

Also when I went to do my "easy rebate" using the correct spelling instead of the $6 it only went through as $3.

Note: I love my local Staples store but I prefer to be protected from phishing scams and Staples has the means and the responsibility to do that. So far they have failed.

"I didn't want to like Staples - I wanted to give my business to an independent retailer - but they always have what I need and are constantly offering a great coupon or free shipping. Their shipping is reasonably fast. They ship small things (like flash drives) in big boxes, which is wasteful, but not really an issue. Plus their Rewards program is awesome. Staples is my Ol' Faithful for work & personal needs. "

"Ordered two refurbished Dell Computers. No shipping acknowledgement and no tracking information. When computers arrived, one had a DC power supply that was incompatible with the AC cord provided. Corresponded with on-line Customer Service and was told a new power supply would be shipped - no written acknowledgement - checking my account revealed that they had charged a third machine to my account without my approval. Windows could not be activated on either machine - Microsoft indicated that they were not legitimate copies.

I called Customer Service and requested a Return Authorization for both machines on May 24th. On the 25th, I received a call indicating that shipping labels would be emailed - never received. Called back on May 31st and was told shipping labels would be provided in 3-5 business days - never received. Called a third time on June 7th and, after insisting, was connected with a supervisor who finally managed to expedite the return.

Staples refurbished computers . . . NEVER again!!

"Bought an Auto Document Feeder All-In-One Printer. The salesman was pushy for me to buy the extended warranty. I got sick of him telling me about it so I just bought the extended warranty to make him happy. Outside of that I would say my experience at Staples with salespeople has been good. They have answered my questions thoroughly and seem knowledgeable. They claim their tech service is great but all it sounds like they do is call manufactures and third parties to fix things for you and charge you a premium for it. You can do that yourself. I know their extended warranties are not worth it, but I just bought it to make the young college salesman happy. Their prices seem to be lower than Best Buy's, comparable to newegg and other online stores. Their ink rebate sounds illegitimate. I took an empty ink cartridge in and they told me the rebate comes in the mail and it is only $2 per cartridge. I don't think it ever came. They took back some blank CDs I opened without question so I can't complain about their return policy. The relatively new store in Har Har seems unusually dead, even wasn't that busy during the holidays. Got a feeling it won't last much longer. East-siders are so cheap and conservative."
