We CANCELLED ORDER. TSK TSK - SHAME ON THEM!!!! What's with the NY HARDSELL attitudes?????"
"Put my order in for a Nikon 4800 coolpix camera on 11/6. Received thank you email. Email had nothing about shipping or in/out of stock. 11/10 got the call to confirm the order and also tried to sell me expensive accessories. I was patient and just said “No thank you” about 12 times. I checked the order online again and it had gone up by $5 from the original grand total.? Sent email 11/23 to sales asking for approximate date of delivery. No response back. I was patient till 12/3 and canceled order via sales and that only took 3 hours to happen. Go figure. I need this camera to be under the tree at Christmas."
"Attempted to purchase a Sony Cybershot DSC F717 for $514.99 which appeared to be a decent price, and the place was one of the few Brooklyn camera shops that did not have a bad BBB rating. Placed order on Nov 23, then I was contacted by phone to "confirm" my order--and of course I got the hard sell loaded with erroneous information. He stated camera battery only lasted "30" minutes and I should purchase a spare for ~ $100 (Review sites state battery lasts >450 shots!). I declined all offers and was told camera would arrive in "7-14 days." Of course I felt as if I was dealing with Lucifer himself, so I gave them a couple of days waiting for my order to be something more than "processing" and then i got the e-mail saying it was backordered. The truth is, if you don't pay these criminals an outrageous sum for the extras, you are not going to get anything at all. CAVEAT EMPTOR!!!!"
"Attempted to purchase a Dimage A2 for $570-good price for new. Placed order on Nov 13. On Nov 18, I was contacted by phone to "confirm" my order--sales guy attempted to sell multiple accessories. He stated camera battery only lasted "15-20" minutes and I should purchase a spare for ~ $100 (Review sites state battery lasts >450 shots!). I declined all offers and was told camera would arrive in "7-14 days." After reviewing all negative reviews, I got cold feet. Called back on Nov 24 and was told camera was "in shipping." Cancelled my order, didn't have faith store would stand behind its product."
"This store sucks. They put something with incredible price but you never count on your order."
"I was very pleased with the sale process and shipping, pricing, etc.... I purchased a sony vx-2100 on Tuesday at 4:30 pm and got it the next day at 10 am. Sales person sold me the warranty, a little persistent and 300 bucks later I had myself a 4 year warranty through repaitechinc.com total including camera and all accesories, NDA shipping and warranty was 2450.
Not bad considering that if I had purchased locally in CA I would have paid 2699+ tax (7.75%) w/ out extended 4 year warranty."
"SCARED OFF: After a few warning signals went off, I cancelled this $640 order.
- Promised e-mail confirmation never came, even after 16 hours.
- No order number was given until I cancelled.
- Web site recognized my e-mail address and said it was sending my password, but none came.
*If they had a better reputation, I would have given them a chance. I just couldn't risk getting the item held up late. "
"I purchased a Canon Powershot Pro 1 Digital Camera from Stop4Camera and the deal could not have been easier or have gone any smoother. I talked with Bob and he was very pleasant and answered all of my questions. He assurd me the Pro 1 they were selling was the retail box with all of the Canon supplied accessories. He was not pushy and told me several times to call him if I had any questions and or problems.
I placed the order and he did offer me some special deals on some other accessories I might need with the camera. He did'nt push the deals on me and I ended up purchasing an extra battery and a 5yr extended warranty for the Pro 1. As a matter of fact I told him I wanted to keep my cost down and he dropped the price of the warranty $25! I placed the order on Fri. Oct.29th and he told me it would ship on Monday Nov. 1st and arrive on Friday Nov. 5th. It did like clock work! Way to go Bob!
I would definately shop with Stop4Camera again if I have any future photographic needs and I will reccomend them to others! Two thumbs up!!"
"Stop4Camera certainly has low prices- but if you never receive the merchandise that doesn't count for much. After some research, I ordered a digital video camera with 3-day delivery for my husband's birthday. A "customer service" (read: sales person) called me several days later to "confirm my address" (which their ordering system had somehow jumbled) and see if I was interested in purchasing a few more items. I declined and he assured me that though it had already been 4 days since I placed my order that the camera was on the way. On day 8 after receiving nothing I placed a call to them, was transferred around until my call landed in shipping and receiving & was then told they did not have the item in stock. I asked to have the order canceled-I am also going to ask my credit card company to stop payment since they will probably try to charge a "cancellation fee"."
" want to buy a camcorder and the price on their web site is pretty good. I called to check the availability then placed order on line. I called the second day to confirm my order but no way to reach them. I sent two e-mails but no replay. I caught them by phone four days later and was told the camcorder is out of order. I cancelled my order. Their advertised price was great but there is no way you can get it. Don't waste your time."
"total scam, see below.
Called them back the next day to see if the item was in stock..."yes, it should ship in 1-2 days."
I said "Well i have an order number...can that ship today?"
oops, at that point a computer glitch made the item go away...its now backordered again.
I called the ftc as the first post suggests. so should you."
"The reviews are completely accurate. Though I wasn't hassled to buy any products other than a battery I didn't need, I did receive an email response (that was supposed to be a shipping receipt) 10 minutes later explaining that my product was on backorder. If you plan on buying a product and a lot of accessories, these types of stores are right for you. Otherwise, try other guys in the NY/NJ area like electronics expo as I have just done thanks to pricegrabber's great reviews. I paid $25 more and it just goes to show how much the other guys charge for shipping. Stop4Camera charged $29.99 (yes I know this is how they are making their money) where the other place only charged $9.98 which is the true UPS price (My dad own a UPS-type store). Read the reviews, people aren't lying."
"Another Brooklyn Bust. I guess it's my own fault. I've read all the negative about the slick talking, lying New York electronics firms but like a bug to bright light, I couldn't resist the promise of LOW PRICES. Called sto4camera verrified 3 times if the camera was IN STOCK, got the accessories sales pitch, said NO, was brushed off and given an order #, and didn't hear anything for 5 days, just called them and was told the camera was on 5 week back order-go figure. If you don't buy their accessories, you most definitely will not get a camera. BUST!"
"STAY AWAY! Typical bait & switch scam. They offer low prices but will not sell it to you unless you purchase their over-priced accessories. I know better, but I decided to take a chance since I don't need the item right away. I tried to purchase a Canon Digital Rebel along with a Canon EF 28-135 lens. I was hoping that they would consider the lens an "additional accessory." I called prior to placing my order on-line and was assured that the items were in-stock. I received the typical phone call to confirm my order and went through the whole hard-sell ordeal. I stayed firm and declined all of their suggested accessories. I asked once again if the items were in-stock and the sales rep said yes and it would probably ship out the next day. Well, the next day I received an email stating that the items were on backorder. Oh, well....I gave it a chance. Anyways, spend the extra money and purchase from a reputable place. Your are already saving money by making your purchase online."
"I ordered a Canon S50 on line. I called to correct my shipping address. They told me that if I didn't order anything else, they were out of stock. Basically the camera was available only if I ordered their expensive Kit. SHAM ARTISTS!!!!! DO NOT BUY FROM THESE GUYS. WE NEED TO STICK TOGETHER TO GET RID OF BAD VENDORS FROM THE NET."
