"I placed this order online and tried to check if the order would really ship during the week. I paid extra for 3-day shipping, since I planned to take the new camera along on vacation. The guy that answered the phone in customer service was rude. He told me that he could not check stock for me, I should just wait until I received the shipping notice via email. I cancelled the order. I then called again their 800-number to speak to someone in sales. I was on hold for 1 hour and 28 minutes and gave up. I ordered my camera elsewhere and it was a pleasant experience."

"I ordered a lense, Nikon 18-55. DX for $79.00. I received a call back saying that is not digital. I told them it said DX on the item description. He said that was a typo. He said it would not work and I would have to pay 20% restocking fee. He did offer a lense that "was not released" yet that I could have for $199.00. I told him no to cancell my order and he said "fine" and hung up. Wish I would have read the reviews first. I am hoping that my credit card will not be charged. "

"Got a call today to confirm my order. Got suspicious when they tried to tell me the battery only lasted 20 minutes. Refused the high-priced "upgrade". Then they told me the camera would ship in 4-6 weeks or "about 2 months". Waiting for the e-mail to tell me it's on backorder. What a rip off. Wished I'd found these reviews earlier. Don't bother with this company. If the price is too good to be true, it is."

"Run away - don't stop here. This company shipped the wrong camera lens (one of mush less value than the one ordered)and then were insulting when I called to get a return number. They use a lot of manipulative techniques to move you to a higher priced sale, including inferences that they know much more than the buyer about what is being sold, and just downright discounting insults. I may be taking a chance writing this, as I have yet to get my partial refund from them. The person I talked to stated that Stop and Shop would require a 20% restocking fee, even though the wrong merchandise was shipped. "

"Bought a digital camera lense mfg by Sigma, 70mm-300mm for a Nikon. Was told it is the Profressional Edition (PE). Not yet released in the US till July and they got approval to distribute early (should have been my warning). Turns out the "PE" represents the packaging material that Japan uses. So I paid $499 for a $129 lens. OUCH!... Customer service is horrible. Little to no ownership, no apologizes. So if you buy from here, be prepared to be SCAMMED."

"I knew price was too good to be true, but I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Ordered on May 30 but they told me that it's out of stock and will ship at the end of the month. I just emailed them today to inquire about the status and was told that it'll take another couple of weeks but I can cancel if I wanted to. On top of it all, they have my credit card information and there is a fine print on their website about a 7% cancellation fee, so I don't even want to cancel. I'm pretty sure there is no shortage of this camera so why should it take that long. They still have it (every color) on their website:

"This is probably the biggest SCAM company I ever dealt with - They wanted me to purchase a digital camera for $438.00 that I saw and bought at the Best Buy store for $233 with an additional 2 year warrenty included in that price. I do not understand how they continue to stay in business. God help the poor people that don't catch onto them!"

They actively participate in false advertising, false delivery time quotes and poor selling practices in general.

False Advertising: Stop & Shop Digital is a bait and switch operation. You will not, in any event, ever be able to purchase an item, for the advertised price, unless you agree to purchase over-priced accessories that negate any “deal” you may have thought you were getting.

In my personal experience, I purchased a digital camera from their website, which you can see advertised here. After the purchase, the phone salesman informed me that the camera did not come with a battery or battery charger and said “you will not be able to use your camera without it. You can buy the charger package now for $79 plus shipping.” As you can see under the tab "Included Features", the first item listed is a BATTERY.

False Delivery Time: They advertise 2-3 business day delivery times, but it could be 4-6 weeks or even a few years before you get you item.

Personal Example: When the camera I purchased did not arrive on the 3rd business day after my transaction, I called and asked if they could track the item for me and let me know the arrival time. The salesman said “Your item is on backorder, it will be 4-6 weeks before it is shipped”, when pressed further to guarantee that my order would be shipped within 6 weeks, he said “Mam, I cannot guarantee that. It may be an additional 4-6 weeks after that”. I responded “so it could be 4-6 months?” and he said “yes”. So I said “You’re saying it could even be a few years before I receive my order” and he said “it may be”.

Poor Selling Practices: Aside from false advertising and misrepresentation of delivery, the company also has an answering service that gives the illusion there is a call center consisting of a whole sales team if you press 1 or a customer service team if you press two, etc. Really there is only 1 person who answers all lines no matter what you press and he is the “manager” of the sales team (or the manager of himself).

"This site is definately a switch and bait operation. They advertise low prices but will not sell at that price unless you add overpriced batteries, ect. My order has been on backorder for 4 months and they refuse to talk to me on the phone or reply to multiple emails. I tried to purchase a canon G10 which they continue to advertise as available. Stay away from these crooks. "

I ordered ..got there two emails at the given email addy and called as it said.

They wanted to UpSell Batteries $99 and Memory Cards $79 1 GB...

Oh gee its not in STOCK now after i said NO to there UpSales ...

Backorder would take another 8-12 weeks...

"If I could rate them at less than one check I would. Apparently after reading the other reviews this retailer's MO is always the same. You think you made a purchase online only to have them send you an email that you need to contact them to confirm your purchase. It's a total scam. I'm just hoping that I won't have to dispute my cancelled order with my credit card company. Never, ever, do business with this company. I'm using B&H instead."

"Scam artists, like the other reviews indicate. Placed an order for a Panasonic "point and shoot", due to it's price being about $90 less than anyone else's. Was notified by e-mail a couple days later of a need to "confirm" the order. Spoke to someone who noted what a great deal and good camera this was, but that I really should purchase one of two pricey batteries (around $70 and $90, I think) as the battery included was only good for a matter of minutes. I declined his offer and he said he would tell the shipping department to ship the camera. A day later I receive an e-mail from the "shipping department" stating that by the time my order reached the "shipping process", the inventory went "negative" and that the camera would be back ordered 8 to 12 weeks. I called back to cancel the order and ask them how come the same camera is still listed on their web site (which changes listings and prices daily). A sales rep named Allan said "just because it's listed doesn't mean it's available". (I'm thinking "yea, available at the listed price without expensive extras"). Anyway, he said he would cancel the order. The following day I checked my order status on-line; it was still listed as "backordered". I went through the process listed on their "regret to inform you" e-mailing, which details how to cancel the order on-line, through a hidden menue which pops up when you highlight the word "status" on your account information page. Status was then changed to cancelled.
Take my advice, buy from a legitimate retailer, like Vann's; what a difference!
