" Supermediastore, given a look at many of their reviews, does not seem like a bad business. Unfortunately, since I cannot get a response from them directly, and I see they pay attention to what is posted here, I'll try this.
Myself and a co-worker each independently purchased a "32GB" usb flash drive about ll months ago. It turns out that both drives had the same problem: they are 16GB, not 32GB devices. The firmware has been either intentionally or accidentaly written wrong.
I am a professional computer tech. I got my hands on the software to verify the problem after one drive only accepted 16GB, then giving i/o errors, while the other corrupted everything on the drive after attempting to write more than 16GB.
After getting an RMA and sending mine in, they cancelled the RMA ("order") without explanation, after UPS confirmed they recieved it about a week earlier. I had already notified them about my co-workers drive and the true nature of the problem. I recieved no response to that and decided to wait.
When they cancelled my RMA, which I suspect was because it probably arrived after their 14 day cutoff, I was done being ignored. I told them again about the nature of the problem. I stated that they could have contacted their customers if there was a recall. I also stated clearly that I would not be satisfied until I had a replacement for both units.
Later the same day, I recieve a full refund (for my unit, to PayPal), with no explanation nor acknowledgement. I did not request a refund, but a replacement, which is what is appropriate under the warranty.
I can appreciate that a replacement may not be available for whatever reason, or any number of other issues could be the case. Without any communication from the company I have no way of knowing what's going on.
Again, the company is probably OK in general, but there is a serious disconnect here. Isn't it a significant concern that they, knowingly or unknowingly, resold a product which could have been tampered with? How many times will I have to ask?"
