"These folks are also the "Tactical Gun Armory". Between both companies they've stolen over $700 from me. DO NOT TRY TO BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE PEOPLE. YOU WILL BE ROBBED. I have been trying to get my money back for YEARS now. As far as I can tell they take your money; say the product is on "backorder" and then hope you'll just go away."
"I'm kinda an impulse buyer not too keen on shopping around and what not so anyways i ordered a knife from the blade shop on 10/29/09. The very next day im checking my bank statements online only to find i have been charged twice.(which over drafted the account its an expensive damn knife)I then called the bank they refused to take the one charge off unless contacted by the company
so i call the blade shop the lady said she could see where it showed up twice but one was declined(my fault there i typed in the wrong # on the back of the card) but that they were not charging me twice and it shouldent have shown up at the bank. she called the bank and attempted to fix it with no luck. fast forward 11/02/09 the blade shop emailed me saying my order had shipped and gave me the ups tracking number 11/3/09 Finally everything that was pending on my account cleared and guess what only got charged one time. also later that day i received my knife from ups. It was exactly what i ordered. after reading all the reviews of this company i had to write my own review i feel they did an excellent job on my order and even went out of there way to attempt to fix an error made by my bank. (its chase for now anyways)I plan to order from them again and would recommend them them to a friend "
"I ordered a Benchmade knife and accessories from this company on the 18th of October, my card was charged, and I received an order confirmation email. A week later I had not received a shipping confirmation, or my shippment. I checked the online reviews and thought "oh no..." So lesson learned, check BEFORE ordering! I emailed the company, and received a quick reply that they are waiting on the knives from Benchmade, they get weekly shipments from Benchmade, but they don't know when my specific knife will arrive. I was not told I was ordering a backordered knife until then, and a reply of "We have no idea when you'll get the stuff you paid for" does not cut it with me. I have no patience with companies like this. Do not buy from them!
After cancelling my order I was told it takes 10-14 days for a refund. Guess what? It's been longer than that, and no money back in my account! I've emailed back and forth with them, and I think I'll be filing a dispute with my bank. These people SUCK! Do not even consider buying from them. You will get robbed!"
"Awful! I tried to order a Benchmade 940 from them and their site showed it as "available" and said if it was out of stock or if there were any complications I would receive an email. I ordered and paid the extra $29 for overnight shipping on a Wednesday morning hoping to get it before I left for a camping trip on Friday. Thursday, no knife and I assumed maybe it didnt get send out in time but I will definitely have it Friday... Friday, no knife!
I thought this is odd and called them "sorry that knife is out of stock you should he received and email" (I double and triple checked even the spam folder) the only email I got from them was the order confirmation. They said they thought it would be 3-4 weeks before they got it in but didnt know for sure. I told the lady I wanted the overnight shipping fee refunded because it wasnt going to matter if I wasnt getting it for a month. She told me she couldnt do that so I got frustrated and canceled the whole order.
That was September 18th it is now October 12th almost a month later and I have still not received the refund, I have even called twice and they just tell me their account department is processing it.
Horrible customer service and the slowest refund times on earth the lady said 10-14 business day which I though was ridiculous but now it been even longer than that.
I had though specialty stores like this would improve service and try harder in a recession when most local knife shops have gone out of business, I wish my local stored would have stayed and this would be the type of store to go.
In the end I went on a knife forum and purchased one from a member and paid almost half and got it in 2 days
"
"This was my first order from The Blade Shop.com, I ordered my knife on Friday Sept 25th It was shipped on Mon Sept 28th. I recieved my knife as described on Thurs Oct 1st. Thats some of the fastest service I have ever had. Apparently this company had some issues at the begining of the year but maybe they are fixing their problems. I am 100% satisfied with this transaction and will probably use this company again."
"Placed a total of 2 orders for 3 knifes July 2 and July 5 2009.
Never received the Knifes or a refund.
Trying one last time then calling the local police. "
"Second time purchasing from thebladeshop.com. The first time I bought a knife it was backordered for 8 months, after fighting for a refund I finally got my money back. I tried to buy the same knife thinking it couldn't happen again, it did. Hate Hate Hate this company. It would be more beneficial for you to try and make the knife you want yourself with a rock and piece of steel than purchase it from these people."
"I recently ordered a knife from the Blade Shop as a birthday gift for my (college aged) son. Shortly thereafter I was informed it was backordered and could not arrive on time. I cancelled the order, but found that the Blade Shop charges your credit card immediately (upon ordering) rather than when the knife is shipped (like most web sites do). It is now 13 business days since I cancelled the order, and a credit has not yet appeared on my card. I take it up tomorrow with my credit card company.
Furthermore, I have called about two knives since then that are shown as available on the web page, but that were not in fact in stock.
I think a company that apparently maintains so little stock on hand has no business charging customers immediately. It raises suspicions, to say the least.
I would advise NEVER to order from this company without calling to check on stock first. Even so, I think they should change their billing policy to not billing until the time of shipment."
"DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS BUSINESS. I have the same type of story as most reviewers. Credit card charged told out of stock and then told it was shipped but delivered to the wrong city by UPS. Then retold that it was out of stock and would take another 4-6 weeks to get. When told to cancel order told would take 10-14 days to reflect on my statement. They are listed on the Benchmade website retailers as JEL Industries, I have notified Benchmade of their shady practices. THEY HAVE AN F RATING WITH BBB IN Knoxville, TN. BEWARE"
"just wanted to add in the pile of reviews that says - this site is HORRIBLE!!! - what a great selection of knives etc. but I have ordered from them twice and gotten nothing but a RUNAROUND! knives are backordered without notice, shipments held up, I was practically lied to - I asked to have my non-backordered knives sent ASAP via 2nd day air and was told (but not "promised," as I was reminded later when I called to complain) they would go out on Wed. and thus be there on Friday -- well guess what, they went out on Wednesday a WEEK LATER and they wouldn't give me a refund for the 2nd-day air, even though I only got that because I needed the knives by that Friday at that address - I now have to have them shipped to my home in Siberia --
NEVER SHOP AT THE BLADE SHOP!"
"I am kicking myself for not researching this company before I clicked buy!!!! I am in the same boat, I was immediately charged for my purchase
while my order was put on backorder. That should have raised a big red flag. ANY reputable company doesn't bill until the item(s) have shipped. I have tried re-arranging my order to items that are "in-stock" and promised a shipment, but still NO KNIVES! And NO REFUNDS to items canceled. Don't let the low prices sucker you in!!!! Now almost 2 months later I am filing with the BBB and my credit card company."
"The only reason I checked with Reseller Ratings concerning The Blade Shop is that I felt this seller was giving me quite a runaround. Sure enough, many other customers had voiced similar complaints. After placing my order, The Blade Shop immediately sent an email stating that the item was on back order, but that it should arrive in 1-2 weeks. 3 weeks after placing the order I contacted them via their 800 number because I hadn't yet received the item or any updates concerning order status. I was informed that the item was still on backorder but was expected to arrive soon. I feel that it is wrong for The Blade Shop to charge customers for merchandise before it is available for shipment. I have dealt with many fine and conscientious sellers over the internet. The Blade Shop is not one of them! "
"I ordered an item from thebladeshop.com on 12/13/08 and never received it. I asked for a refund but was refused because their standard US Postal Service (USPS) shipping did not include insurance. I asked that thebladeshop (TBS)file a complaint with the USPS and TBS agreed. I heard nothing afterwards and was not contacted by USPS. After reviewing other complaints about TBS, my experience mirrors other complaints. It seems that TBS has a pattern of failing to deliver and failing to follow through on requests for refunds."
"Whatever you do DON'T buy from this company. They misrepresent delivery times - lousy customer service. In my opinion they should be banned from selling on the internet"
"Having done a lot of business with web retailers since the internet was a "puppy", I'm a little embarrassed to report that the Blade Shop slipped past my "flake detector". My experience is much the same as many other posters, so I won't bore you with the details of my unfortunate transaction with these people. Complaining on web forums does alert others to the risks of dealing with questionable web retailers, but does nothing to solve the fundamental problem. I've filed a dispute claim with my credit card company as a first step. I suspect that The Blade Shop gets plenty of those and knows how to game the process. A reminder to all that complaints can be filed with the Consumer Affairs Division of your state's Office of the Attorney General. If you have the stomach for dealing with the federal bureaucracy, you can also file with the Consumer Protection Bureau of the U.S. Federal Trade Commission. The only hope consumers have for weeding out the predators is to complain to the folks who can do something about it. "
