"We are very happy with the heating under our laminate floor. There is no basement under our new addition and the floor is more comfortable to stand on than anywhere else in the house. Installation instructions were very clear. I took great care when installing but it still only took a day to lay the heat and underlay and install my flooring. "I cannot recommend Thermosoft's heating mats, specifically the ones that install under laminate or hardwood floors. I am going on my third winter with their product installed (500sq.ft of zone heating installed at a cost of $3000 for the mats, and $1000 for labor....the first time). The sales team that I dealt with was professional, fast, made me feel like I was getting a great deal, helped me get the right materials and products...shipping was fast, installation of the mats seemed easy (during a remodel), and for that first winter...man, those warm floors were NICE! It does requires a pretty significant adjustment to living style, as far as where you can put furniture, and what kind of furniture you can have. We leave the floor heat off during the summer, and when we turned it on the following winter there were several cold areas on the floor that never warmed up. After pulling up the floor, we found that several mats had 'burned out' (one even left an actual burnmark where it shorted). After returning them under warranty, only one of three mats was actually covered. So we reduced the overall heating square footage, installed the one replacement mat (we paid all shipping) and put everything back together. A couple of months later we noticed another cold spot develop, and then another. We waited to pull the floor up again until this summer, to find that 2 more mats had burned out. We just left them. This winter when we turned the heat on, another mat burned out, and yesterday another one went. Out of 500sqft, only 105 are actually working 3 years later. A disappointing experience to say the least. The worst part is, when the product worked, it was AWESOME and very efficient. I'll miss it. "
