"I am very impressed with Thinkific's efforts to help course creators make the best, most engaging courses possible. Their educational materials are great, ad they are always adding useful functionality. Even their free version has all the functionality that is really necessary for helping students navigate through the courses and stay engaged.

Two minor problems I've had: Support can be slow (and finding the great explanations they have isn't always easy-- sometimes I've "happened on" a great idea and had a very long search to find that help article later.)

Also, the feature that allows teachers to import powerpoints as pdfs and then add audio in Thinkific is extremely slow, erratic, and fallible. I've spent a LONG time painstakingly adding audio to each slide, waiting minutes while it was processed and saved, and going on to the next and repeating... Then in the student area the recording wouldn't work. Several wasted lessons later I gave up, and learned to record audio (using Zoom) for my slides before uploading to Thinkific as a complete video.

Aside from that one badly-working program (which really was a benefit most hosts wouldn't even try to provide), my experience has been quite positive. I'm just waiting to be able to afford to upgrade to get the special features available for paying customers!

"If you want to create an online course but still have another life (ie day job) to live, then Thinkific is one of the best places to get started. No working with (and paying for!) a developer to give your course a great home on the web, instead, you get a user-friendly experience for both YOU *and* your students.

The free plan is great if you are using a free mini-course to generate leads, but you have to upgrade to connect PayPal, reduce fees on tuition, implement coupons, and much, much more.

There are two themes, dark and light, but the dark is too dark for today's bright and minimalist trend, and the light is quite boring and drab - it just feels like too much gray!!!

The monthly price for the first paid level of the software is a bit steep unless you have your marketing in place. If you do your marketing first, build a waitlist, and *then* get students then you're golden and tuition will cover your monthly fees (and you may as well upgrade to the next level because that seems to be the best, even for new course creators.) If you don't have your marketing in place and you haven't already successfully created and sold a course before, then this monthly fee is going to add to the lows of the entrepreneurial roller coaster. If you need to figure out your marketing, go with the Free plan. Once you have it figured out, then it's wise to move up at least one level, if not two.

Overall, a great place to get started. Easy to organize, upload, and make uniquely you! "
