"Their business model isn’t working. They needed to be more discerning in their intake - not push fee penalties on returns for items not as advertised (last two orders both had stained tops and a very worn coat - that yeah, was a high-end name brand, but still looked like a homeless coat due to the wear).
I’ve sent in several bags of clothes (much nicer than anything I’ve ever received via a purchase) - got a decent to low price for mostly new suits with tags still on for my first one; but the last bag I sent was a joke - $12 for over a dozen designer tops, most still with tags, a silk dress, and two never used leather purses (one costing over $200 as it was from an artist/designer) and two brand new pair of shoes/boots, leather - still in their original boxes and packaging. I could have (should have) sold the brand new knee high leather boots on Facebook swap - I would have gotten at least $30 for those alone. I’m canceling my account today. "
"i sent in a bag of clothes which included a london fog raincoat, designor top, dress, etc, they sold the coat for 36.99 i received 14.35 for all 7 items, i will donate next time this place is a joke. i used it years ago and received fair prices, i dont know what happened"
"I sent a totally fully bag to ThredUp with brand new (some pieces literally still had the tags on them) to gently used clothes all decently in style. Some of these pieces were from Urban Outfitters, Tommy, the North Face, etc. Not only did it take ThredUP over two months to process my bag, but the payout was only $4.48. That is RIDICULOUS. If you're looking to sell your clothes, go to Plato's Closet or just donate them locally. DO NOT sell your clothes to ThredUP. Also, their customer service is just terrible, getting a hold of them is no small task."
"I’ve sent in 4-5 bags in the past, and I had a good experience. Now, suddenly my items are now paying out less than $1 per item...even on trend items with tags on them! I’m done with Thredup!!! Feels very much like s “bait and switch” business plan. No thanks!"
"I sent in 3 bags total. 1st bag great payout ($120+) So I sent in a second. Still decent payout ($70+) but I sent in a full bag and a few new with tag items that were not listed or accepted with zero explanation. I decided to send in a 3rd bag FULL of name brand items (kids and women's items) and got back $1.26 (after they took a $6.99 S&H fee). It took over 2 months for them to process the bag and then half the items were not listed. They list crap Forever 21 items that fall apart after washing twice, but a new Michael Kors dress with tags is not accepted and Ralph Lauren items get me $1.26? I would rather keep or donate at that point. NEVER again will I sell to Thread Up"
"Like other reviewers have said, it's a scam. Don't do it."
"Don't throw your money away! Sell your items on a local Facebook yard sale site instead. I sent several items new with tags still attached and received $7.00 - that's right $7! "
"Terrible company! Sold them a huge bag of women’s and children’s clothes, they gave me 3 dollars, accepted 2 things and kept the rest for themselves! Funny thing is I seen all the clothes that were unacceptab
le FOR SALE on their site! There is no way that a ton of what I sent just so happened to pop up in the same sizes at the same time! I HATE you guys and I hope someone sues them
and get all the people their damn money back! RIP OFF"
"I sent a big bag of clothes, including a Carolina Herrera beautiful, worn only once, suit. I should NEVER have sent this suit but they advertised designer clothes. The original cost of this suit was over $3000 so I figured I would get at least $100-200. They took most of the other clothes and never even credited the suit! I wrote to them and never heard back. So disappointed and really felt that I was cheated by Thred Up.

"I sent them a HUGE bag of barely used and brand new clothes. Some even had tags. Lucky brand, Free People... and they gave me $30 for what I could have sold on ebay for a few hundred. Next time I won't be lazy and sell it myself. Live and learn. This company is a scam and robbing people of their profits."
"Don’t waste your time. All other reviews are right. "
"I had a good experience with the first bag I sent in, I wished I had gotten more for some of the clothes but I earned more on a few designer bags I sent in so I was happy with it. However, the last two bags I've sent had like new Coach bags that they deemed "unacceptable" yet they accepted one bag that had stains on it, marked it that way and it sold. I don't believe the bags were "unacceptable" and "donated." By the time I realized this it was too late to get them back because I didn't ask for unaccepted items to be returned to me - that I would have had to pay for after paying to ship my bag to them! They've changed their fees, they now charge you to send in your clean out bag, I didn't pay that fee previously. So you have to pay to send in your items and pay to have anything returned to you that they deem unacceptable."
"After sending a few bags for donation and a few for pay out, I realized how untrustworthy this company is. I am extremely aware of quality standards as a designer myself, and therefore I only send sellable items in the pay out bags, and less sellable items in the donation bags. The most recent bag I sent was worth HUNDREDS of dollars, and though I knew I would get less than I paid for these items, I did not expect to get less than $40 total! I cannot emphasize how insanely small that amount is in regards to what I sent. Additionally, items that were in excellent condition from stores like Express and Vineyard Vines, were not accepted. The company also does not tell you why your items are unaccepted, and I wouldn't be surprise if they are still somehow making money off of these items. I have no doubt that this company will start to have trouble when people get fed up with the payout they receive and no longer have things to sell. At the end of the day, if you want to donate items and do not care to get anything in return, they'll make it easy for that, but if you're selling your clothes because you need money, don't expect this company to do anything to help you."
"I would not recommend this website at all.
Especially if you are selling them clothes.
Plus, I sent a bunch of clothes and accessories and one purse.
And for the total of clothes that they accepted (worth at least $100, they give me only $12!!!)
I asked for the clean out bag back if they didn't want it.
And I am missing few of them!!!!
They didn't take time to put my clothes back in the bag, it seems like they just threw it back in there!!!!!!
I really should've read the reviews first.
We can't even talk to a customer service representative on the phone.
Worse experience ever!!!!!!"
"Just a warning, do not sell your items to this company. I personally sent two (2) huge bags packed full of great items. Name branded items jeans, skirts, shirts, heels, scarfs, etc. Brands ranging from Jcrew, American Eagle, White House black market, Lee, BKE, seven for mankind, etc. all items were washed before sendoff as they require and no items had any tears, stains or any defects.
Well they only pay you based on what they feel like I guess, on those two bags I only made $5.22 total!!!! Ridiculous! You are better off going to a local consignment shop and selling your stuff to them. I did that with my remaining clothes I had and they paid me $120.00. So if you don’t want to get ripped off by these people sell your stuff elsewhere!"
